    Kidd and Stocking
The Page Sisters all look at you around the same time. Hillary rolls her eyes and turns her attention back to Stocking, but Priscilla and Robin look at each other. Priscilla shrugs, and Robin turns back to you.
Of the three, Robin was the leg-breaker and skull-cracker, so it falls to her to deal with you. "Sure. If you can find Atticus Murphy, we'll answer all your questions." As she speaks, the lenses of her glasses go all swirly and hypnotic, and you find yourself drawn into them, unable to look away. Slowly, the tension leaves your frame, your muscles relax and a calmness settles over you. She just hypnotized you. "Is that alright with you?"
Hypno-glasses really work. Who knew? Sure, you could break out of it if you… really… wanted to.

    Nico Minoru
An enormous figure joined the Japanese Witch. The warrior was at least six feet in height, and wore a lion's fur cloak, sturdy leather bracers, a strong looking bow hung over his back, a pair of gauntlets which hung over his belt with a buckle of yet another lion, and little else. His features were noble, with a powerful lantern jaw, his eyes a clear sparkling blue, and his shoulders wide. His hair was a rich burgundy, with a spit-curl, and he was almost ridiculously top-heavy.
    Hercules.
The tale of Hercules was a strange one, in that he was not his historical counterpart. In the days he lived the term hero had simply been applied to anyone strong enough to force the world to adapt to them. Their were no expected behaviors or moral standards to uphold. Mr Revise, however, had found that to be utterly . And so, Hercules had been updated to meet a higher standard of behavior, and given a new, more appropriate legend. Except, as a consequence, he had never got around to performing any of the deeds that made him in the first place, and so to fill the void Kratos had come into existence to kill everything Hercules had never dealt with himself. Leaving yet more work for the editor to deal with.

    Light Yagami
"I admit I am diversifying, however my expertise has always been in matters of… death." Light said softly to Misa, stroking her hair absent-mindedly while she lay there, a contented-look on her face. It was doubtful she was really listening to his words, but Light liked to speak to her as a way of vocalizing his thoughts, and she liked the attention.
"In light of that, consider the psychopomps, who amongst the shinigami are those that guide the souls to their rightful place after death, and maintain balance in the netherworld. Unlike the others, they are more human then spirit, indeed spend most of the time as mortals, and receive their orders impersonally. If I could tap into their dispatches to leave messages of my own…"

"And how would you control them?" Ryuk asks. His tone isn't curious. It sounds tense, and a little challenging.
"I have my ways." Light replied mysteriously, with a small, secretive smile. "Are you worried, Ryuk, how close to you I am becoming? Do not be afraid. But a Brittanian saying comes to mind. One about omelets and breaking eggs. How ever do you expect me to build a new world while leaving the old one unchanged?" Light strokes Misa's hair again.

So far he's managed to accumulate a large poofy baseball cap and a scarf. He turned his jacket inside out too.

    It looks weird.

He'll wait for a moment to see if the guidance counselor starts monologuing for muttering vital details to himself.

But if he continues crying...well Gary'll feel obligated to get him some tissues and tell him to stop crying.

    He doesn't like crying.

Atticus Murphy Junior maybe somewhat withdrawn and inwardly focused on account of loosing something indescribably valuable the very second he's about to be checked up on by his bosses, but not quite enough not to notice you. Fortunately, your strange clothing protects you from suspicion. "Ah. You must be my two o'clock." He says, noting your bizarre fashion choice and doing his best to compose himself and act like nothing is the matter, then ushering you into the office. It's in complete shambles, given his frenzy to find the book. The cushions were ripped off the couches, the contents of the drawers scattered everywhere, and that's just the beginning.
Atticus gestures around desperately. "Sorry, I have to… to…" He thinks desperately, but his imagination is busy filling in the blanks on what's going to happen to him if he doesn't get the book back before anyone realizes it's gone. It's not pleasant. Mostly because it's going to happen to him. "So if you could sit here, and tell anyone who asks that I just nipped out but will be back in a moment, I'd be very grateful." He seems to have lost the middle-half of that conversation somewhere. But without a word, he leaves you in his office and heads out, looking for the book.
He leaves you in his ransacked office. With all the papers spilled everywhere.

Jack counter-charges, but he might as well have not bothered. Beast crashes into him like a freight-train, driving his fist into Jack's midsection like a cannonball and knocking him off his feet. "As I tell my students, mass plus acceleration equals force." He tells Jack as he's sent flying up into the air. He's about sick of the irrational, time to showcase some good old Newtonian Science. Jack could make himself invulnerable and sharp, but he still only weighed as much as an ordinary man.

"I'm faster, and heavier then you. More then that, I can do the calculations in my head for precisions sake. All the raw power in the world isn't going to help you." He let that sink in a moment, then reached over and casually uprooted a medium sized pine-tree, bracing himself so as not to topple and serve as the object lesson of his own demonstration. "And for my next trick… leverage."

    Archer, Shirou
"I would suggest retreat." Archer says, after dodging a particularly nasty strike of Mickeys. He's quite aware of his own capabilities. Enough to know, anyway, that any fight where he's defensive is one he's going to lose, and lose quickly.

"I mean this in the best way possible but both of these Magus are infinitely more competent than you in every thinkable way when it comes to conventional magecraft. I believe, in my current condition, I could take out Salem." Unusual for a master to introduce his servant, but he wasn't dwelling on that. "If not for the Saber, that is."

    "We can't."

There was a blur, and Shirou slumped to the ground. Archer hefted his now unconscious master over his shoulder, then left the battle, leaving the other two to try and duke it out.

"No? Such a generous proposition too. Shame." He says, and stubs out the cigarette. "Well, seems to me that my boys are losing, and so, as usual, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. Nothing personal, you're great in the sack and all…" He snaps his fingers. "Speaking of which -" Jack adds, then started rummaging around int he clothes pile again, until at last he made a delighted noise. "Knew I had it in here somewhere. Never go anywhere without it. Here we go." For a moment, you tense, expecting a weapon, but it's just some sort of dark fabric. It's a sack, a small bag you can keep things in, nothing more.
"We'll finish this up later. Clackety-Clack, Get in the Sack." He tells you, the all is darkness.
You feel nothing. No light, no air, no sound, no temperature, no texture, nothing at all. Total Sensory Deprivation. But you can tell what happened, Jack sucked you into the bag he keeps his loot in. And there's no way out.

    Smedry
Jack Ketch doesn't even flinch as the razor-sharp tip of the sword nicks his leg, leaving a red line that starts to leak. Which is a shame, because before you can dart back means the return swing of the axe clips the side of your head, removing a flap of scalp and sending you staggering. If the axe was angled slightly differently, you'd be dead, but luck was on your side and it only cut you painfully but superficially and rattled you a bit. As well as taught you a valuable lesson. You're not young anymore. And you've aged, while he's been preserved in perfect shape, untouched by time. Without your talent to keep you safe…
Which isn't to say you're not skilled with a blade. Past your prime you may be, but you've been swinging a sword long enough to account for that. At your best, you'd give a much better showing. Some day where you aren't already drained from exertion after exertion and had plenty of sleep. You are far from at your best.
Well, you're not faster than him, you're not stronger than him (unless all those rippling muscles beneath his jerkin are for show), his axe has greater reach then your sword, and his silent intensity and professional demeanor suggest you wouldn't have much luck distracting him or trying to reason with him either. But you are almost certain you are much smarter than him, so drawing it away from a physical contest can only help matters.

    Gary
Most of the files are about the students, many of which he's not seeing in his role as a guidance councilor, including several of the teachers. Many of the information is sensitive and private. Or classified. And down-right terrifying in the details. Sleeping patterns (he's got somebody watching you all sleep), personal information…
Were you the blackmailing sort, you could use this to disregard the privacy of anyone in the school. Is there someone specific that you are looking for?

"You want me to teach you sword-fighting? Hrm. You would be learning from the best, then. I can teach you some of my style, but the intricacies will be for you to discover on your own. But you will need to commit. My lessons are not for the curious. Are you sure you are ready?" Kiryuu asks, that smug grin still creeping on his face. The glint in his eye belies more experience with the blade than many soldiers, with countless wounded hearts and not a single drop of blood. But underneath, there is something nervous brewing in Touga's mind.

Are you sure you are ready?

    Am I?

Something pulls and tugs at the councilman's mind, making the words reverberate. A ghost from the past locked away in his room, where not even Alex could find it. He had gone to his room to retire after transporting Nunally to safety. The girl gave him an awkward goodbye before he departed. Kiryuu opened the door to his dorm to find another rose-sealed letter. With almost a little disdain, he opened the envelope and began to read the familiar curling handwriting, inhaling the scent of roses. It took him a moment to reach the shocking conclusion that this was not his former master.

    Touga,

It has been almost a year since we last spoke. But we were never either for words. You always knew my place, and I yours. The connection still runs deep, though.

My search continues. I have wandered far, and sought the strange places of this world for her. I fear she may no longer be in this dimension. But have no fear; she is not dead. I know.

My searching has not proved fruitless, though. In the wild country, half way between death and dreams, I found something. It nearly cost me my life. I gladly payed the price for this. I have split it into five pieces. Each of you has one to guard with your own life. Even your sister.

You may be wondering why I have entrusted this to you. I know my brother still speaks to you. You could easily deliver the piece into his hands, and undo all my work. I see so much of him in you. It is no wonder that you were his favored disciple. But above all that, Kiryuu, I see much of her in you as well.

You still love her. So do I.

I have faith that you will do the right thing.

I have faith that you are ready.

    Signed,
    The Rose Bride

Within the envelope was something that shook Touga to his core; a shard of a sword, that shone rose-pink in the light.

    Alex

"Blue John! Look here!" Alex cries out. "Lil' light readin' for the road to keep us from goin' barmy. Looks grazzy as all hella, too." Alex opens the tome, admiring the craftsmanship on the binding. "Now where do you 'spose this dengy razmazz came from? Think it could get us some jink?" The Britanian anarchist opens the book as he says these last few words, voicing the bare want of every man into the malevolent grimoire.

"Oh my stars and garters." Hank McCoy said, then took a step back, eyes widening in shock. He'd taken Jack Frost to be simply moving thermodynamics around. Not the incarnation of the hostility of a season. Assumptions. If one of his students had made it, he'd be scolding them right now. Fortunately, it was all salvageable. He just had to fall back on something.

"Leavenworth old boy, I don't suppose you can hold out a moment? I think I'm going to have to do something… drastic." Beast asks, judging the distance between Frost and the lake. Still too far. Well so much for tossing him in, and letting the spirit sort him out. But no matter, it wasn't his only recourse. Just the more elegant of solutions.

He glances around quickly, then spots the bag of guns Souske had provided. Perfect. Falling to all fours he makes a loping break for it, meaning to get armed and seeing how ice powers worked against some heavy ordnance.

    Alex Delarge
Rivalz backs away a step, making nervous sounds. You've managed to keep him at heel with the threat of physical harm, but really he's good for very little. You might as well just get rid of him so you don't have his whiny voice in your ear the entire time. Nothing spoils a night on the town like a bratchny narc who won't stop griping.
Of course, you have more interesting things to concern yourself with. The Book of Pure Evil. A tome of ancient, long forgotten lore, for a very specific intended audience. As you open it, a spider skitters halfway across the book, brushes against a segment written in some language that seems to use pictograms, and turns instantly to stone. If you had more time you'd muse on that, however the pages begin to turn of their own violation to the back of the book, where the appendix would be in another sort of informative text. Their is a map of the Quilette reservation, where (on the ground that was once used for the burial of their dead, in the long, long ago) the native Americans have built a casino (much of which is not strictly speaking legal, and underground, incidentally where Lelouch does his gambling). Beneath that is the heading 'For Fortune', and beneath that is a list of all the winning combination's that night. What to expect every hand played, every dice rolled, every table swept. Apparently, it senses your intent, both in terms of what you want to do, and of where your going, and is trying to be helpful.
A man more experienced with the book would be very suspicious (re: flat out terrified) of how helpful it's being, but it has it's reasons. The most pressing of these being that it like's Alex, particularly his attitude. Here's a man that could let the really 'creative' aspects of the book come to the fore, if he's nurtured correctly.

    Touga
"I am certain." Lelouch replies, and means every word. "If there is one thing recent events have taught me, it's that the time when I could depend on others to fight my battles for me is long past. We can start as soon as you are ready."
Which seems an odd attitude for a man asking you for help, but he's not finished speaking. "This makes me twice in your debt, Touga. I doubt you to have forgotten, but if there is any way I can repay you, do not hesitate to ask." He's earnest and quite serious, and something in his deep violet eyes suggests that he's quite capable of making good. Perhaps you can use him as he uses you, to try to get closer to her.

Magician's Duel (Harry, Alex, Salem, Mickey)
For the last twelve minutes (yet it feels like so much longer), since Harry threw down the gauntlet in a rather dramatic way, the two of you have been testing each others defenses and preparing yourselves for the coming ordeal (Shirou had mostly kept out of your way).
Alex did not major in combat magic. And what she knew was mostly the showy sort, rather then the practicalities of using magic to end a life, which had not prepared her for this. Harry was an Auror standard wizard, who hadn't won countless duels on luck alone. She was defending herself using animated furniture, chairs, tables, desks and anything else handy whirling through the corridor in a parody of motion, acting as maneuverable shields by imposing themselves between her and the spells, and increasing the density of them in order to make them more durable, and able to survive damages.
Then she decides to stop being reactive, and to retaliate with her own brand of skills. She takes a deep breath, rolls her shoulders, then blurs, and an identical duplicate materializes beside her. Then a third, then a sixth, then there are ten of her, all acting as puppeteers to the crude magical constructs. Now that's a trick. But are they reflections with her conscious split between them, or autonomous clones?

With Archer having, in the vernacular, gotten the hell outa dodge, Mickey turns to Salem. "Well, this would seem to be in my favor. I know I can take you one at a time." He says, shouldering the giant key he uses for a sword, and giving you a small smile that has a dangerous power of it's own. "Maybe I should tie one hand behind my back."

    Shiki
You have been asked to locate a girl, Kallen Kōzuki, and protect her, as she's apparently about to meet some very dangerous people who dress as bats when it gets dark. It's easy enough to remember her, she's on the student council and Lelouch gave you a photo to make sure.
    She's on the student council.
Which makes the matter even easier to resolve. Your best bet is to go and talk to Mily Ashford, who seems to run the group with a gentle but iron hand. She's easy enough to locate. The principle's office, explaining to the former navy seal what's to be expected of him and his soldiers, now that Souske has been debriefed. Poor Sam Axe's long career in espionage and breaking enemy operatives without resorting to torture has not prepared him for a force of nature like Mily Ashford. You should begin by going in and asking her.

    Touma
You've been dragged off with the rest of the students who experienced Mr/Mrs Garrison's endorsement of brutal lynchings at the slightest provocation, by the school councilor Atticus J. Murphy. His suit is rumpled, suggesting he's both run and slept in it, his hair is sticking out all over the place, and there a deep bags under his eyes. He doesn't look like he's in any shape to deal with himself, let alone this crop of students, which, based on your powers of observation, include not only yourself, but a suspiciously feminine cyborg, an alien, and an exiled Prince of China.
There's something really odd about this school.
You've all been gotten dressed again, and Atticus is still doing his best to hurry you all along, and bunch you up so he can watch you all.
Atticus gives you all a shaky look that suggests he's trying to be reassuring, but doesn't even have it in him to reassure himself, and clears his throat. "Ah… so, how was that? Wow, Mr/Mrs Garrison. Who'd have thought. Always the quiet ones. Hope nobody was hurt, you better stay away from the 3rd floor, sounds like an electric malfunction or something."
He adds, indicating the area where Potter and Alex Russo are out for blood. He's sweating bullets, and his hands are trembling. He's had to mop his brow with his tie twice. He looks like a man who has only just realized he's been left with just enough rope left to hang himself. "Anyway, I'm going to need you all to empty your bags, while I look for something. Or I'll expel you. Right now. Hurry up, damnit! I don't have all day!" He fiddles with his tie, and starts working his collar loose, suddenly feeling strangled, and he keeps glancing over at the windows where The Book Mobile can be glimpsed. He needs to resolve this quickly or they'll string him up. Fortunately, he has a lead.
A violent and spontaneous attempted lynching of students. That had to be caused by the book, right? But each bag, while many of which have interesting contents, proves to be lacking in the eldritch tome of forgotten lore front. Finally, he comes to you.

    Beast
Jack Frost hurls long lances of ice at you. You know for a fact he's capable of using his powers far more effectively, apparently he's having what he thinks of as fun.

    Kidd

Kidd's eyes focus in on the glasses. The swirls drawing his eyes, but not for the reason that Robin thinks. Oh sure the glasses work on him, he could have broken out with a lot of effort, but something else saves Kidd from hypnotism this day. The swirls of her glasses...SWIRLS BY THEIR VERY NATURE ARE UNSYMMETRICAL! This really grinds Kidd's gears as, he by his nature is orderly. His parent could be as wily as the geese when s/he wanted. However Kidd was literally a being of order. It is what makes him. This is the reason for his OCD towards symmetry. To him it is the penultimate of order. To him Asymmetry is chaos his direct opposite (Soul Eater Cannon explanation).

As such Kidd's eyes fill with rage as he says, "Or you could tell me know and I don't punch those unsymmetrical abominations off you face and crush them in the dust. Also I have to insist that you stop harassing this person." At that last part his points at Stocking.

Gary goes for the usual suspects. Souske Sagara, Cassandra Cain and friends, his roommate Shiki...and Bella. It all revolves around her in the end.

He looks around at the bookshelves, frowning as he attempts to spot any books with a coloring scheme out of place amidst all the others.

    Leavenworth Smedry

He spares a brief aside glance to McCoy, jumping back from another swing of Ketch's axe, blood pouring down his neck.

He smiles a smile that show no sign of all his aches and pain.

"Get to it, Professor." He says. "Remember what I said earlier, eh?"

With that, he changes opponents, sword lashing out to hamstring the airborne foot of Jack Frost. Buying Hank McCoy some time.

    Death and Stocking
Robin's glasses went back to normal, giving you a good look at her big brown eyes. She looks a little surprised at your rather extreme reaction, but hardly intimidated. Her father aside, she doesn't get shouted at. She does the shouting, and it takes her a moment to come to terms with it. Then her lips tighten, and she turns back to Hillary and Priscilla, and shrugs. "You all saw me. I tried to be reasonable." She says, sounding vaguely regretful about the lack of results.
"Yes you did sis. Almost for two minutes. A new record for you." Hillary replies right back, rolling her eyes. The Page sisters were very close, and tended to banter exclusively with each other like this in tense situations, which tended to give the impression that they'd forgotten all about you.
"Everyone's a critic." She replied, rolling her eyes, then hefted the MI7. "Well, which ones this? Should I just shoot him?"
"The shinigami I believe. Those three scars are a give-away" Hillary (research), tells her, after staring at you thoughtfully for a moment. You don't like those scars. They make you asymmetrical. "And don't shoot anyone. We're not supposed to disturb the experiment."
Robin smiled. That was a relief. She wasn't in the mood to just shoot you, she had some venting to do, after having her father yell at her for almost an hour. They all had their ways of blowing off steam in these circumstances, Hillary seduced one of the prisoners, Priscilla threw a crates-worth of plates against a wall, and Robin beat the crap out of anyone unfortunate enough to give her a reason. "Well in that case, I'll adapt…" She dropped the cannon, and opened the back of the van, groping around for a moment before settling on something and pulling a long zanpakutō out. It was four and a half foot of blade a hands-breadth wide, and sat very awkwardly in her hands. Though more the question, where the hell did she get that? A shinigami soul-blade built out of it's wielders soul wasn't something you could use if you weren't intended for it, yet you'd bet Liz and Patti that she wasn't it's intended wielder.
"How do I release it again? I can never remember the passwords to these things. Should have had daddy dearest come up with an owners manual." She muttered for her own benefit (you'd suspect you weren't meant to overhear), than decides not to bother trying to remember and runs straight at you, swinging the blade one-handed like a madman.
Hillary rolled her eyes at her sisters antics. "Well, that's torn it. Pris, go get Atticus, and drag him back here while Robin does her thing. And remember we're supposed to be somewhat covert."
Priscilla (retrieval) rolls her eyes. "Let her run things in the field once and she thinks she needs to tell us how to do our jobs." She grumbles. Without another word she picks up Robin's dropped gun, then heads over towards the school, meaning to make an example of the guidance councilor.

    Gary Bell
They all look to be ponderous, boring books, bound in leather to look authentic, with titles like 'A beginners guide to faking a psychology degree', and 'how to obtain false identification', and 'what is expected of teachers in a modern high school environment'. Why a school councilor would have them in his office for easy referral is a total mystery.
You sift through a few of the files you've taken. Bella has very little information, given that the file was intended for the reader to refer to, and is made up mostly of observances about her daily life written as though even the most trivial of events is incalculably significant (she tied her left shoelace first today. May have to step up treatments. Today, she didn't eat quite as many cornflakes as usual. Excellent. Continue as planned.). , Next there is a dozen pages made up of a series of graphs that you have no idea what represent, but they have words like 'resonance', 'synergy', and 'self-control' next to them.
Occasionally, there is a reference to something called 'ugly-duckling', but it never elaborates, so it's also lacking in value. Still, some details do seem wrong to you. Her emergency contact is listed as someone called Luke Garroway, not her father as you'd expect. Curiouser and curiouser.
Cassandra Cain/Wayne… Nothing. Nothing at all. She was adopted by Bruce Wayne, but before that she didn't exist. As though he'd somehow called her into being immaculately at sixteen. She had no parents. She had no prior history. The adoption was handled by an agency that came into existence, sorted her matters out, then returned to nothing, it's task done, with no staff at all that can be located and traced. Cass is a complete enigma, and whoever made her that way is much, much better at hiding things then Atticus was at finding them.
Souske you struck gold. It details his entire life-history, which all seems to have been in the armed forces. If this is accurate, he enlisted when he was four, and has been killing people for king and country more or less since day one. Apparently he was deployed here to protect Bella to the exclusion of all else. No wonder he flies of the handle at the slightest provocation, he thinks he's following orders. His commanding officer is listed as Sam Axe, who is the schools principle. Apparently, Souske's not up to the job solo, guns or no guns.
Lelouch, quite suspiciously, doesn't have a file. He hasn't even attempted to learn more about the prince. Which suggests whoever is protecting him is a lot higher up the food chain then Atticus.

    Smedry
Jack Ketch does not follow through. He just holds his ground, axe held loosely in his hands, eyes still on yours. He's bleeding quite a bit from his leg, but if he feels any ebb in his powers at all, he doesn't show it.
And Jack Horner steps out from behind the tree, dressed in his jeans and boots, with no shirt on, thumbs hooked in his belt, and a sardonic smile on his face. Jack might not be smart, but he is clever, and slipperier then a greased eel. "Now look at this. I'm gone no time at all, enjoying the attentions of a rather lovely lady, and when I come back I find this." He waved his hand vaguely at the executioner. [COLOR="DarkSlateBlue"]"Stand down, mister Ketch."
Jack Ketch grunted, then shouldered his axe, not taking his eyes off Smedry for a moment. "How's that. And Smedry, you put the sword down, and perhaps we can come to an understanding that don't involve making an awful mess of this here woods once Ketch gets a bit more enthusiastic."

    Leavenworth Smedry

Smedry notes Jack's sack. And the absence of Panty. He takes stock of the odds.

Finally, he sighs. "We've already come to a bit of an understanding, Jack Horner. You're three heavily armed fellows, and I'm a old naked man with a sword."

He hefts his sword. "Let's finish this. Be sure to give Ketch and Frost their due credit when you get back to base. They deserve it."

    Touga

The thought crosses Touga's mind. Lelouch owes him a favor... but how to use it? Yesterday, it wouldn't have been a problem; blood for the dead god. More puppets for the puppetmaster. But now the ring on his finger feels cold and heavy, like a shackle. And so, with some deliberation, Kiryuu slips off his rose crest into a pocket as he asks, "Actually... there is something you can do to help me. Do you have any contacts? Spies? I'm looking for someone. No... two people. I will give you the specifics after our first lesson. Be readyat the practice room in the P.E. building."

    Alex

'Buggaty bogs! I've hit dorogoy hot!'
The thoughts race through Alex's mind. This is enough to set him up long enough to buy his way through this little mission! He could burn anything and still come out ahead...

Huh. 'Buy'. Feels kind of tacky now. Yeah, it would be easy. Real easy. But if he has all the money, and he still has to pay for the guns, isn't that kind of like cheating? They still got some of his money. No, they're money. that's blight cheating, it is.

But if he cleaned the house and crast the guns, they'd have nothing. He'd have it all! 'Course, they'd come looking for him. Try to bleed him dry after he won fair and square. (Magic book is fair now). So maybe he could just nozh the whole sodding joint.

Now that's thinkin'. He gets all the goods and gold, they get nothin'. He'll take his share, and throw the rest wherever. What did that frutity veck say again? Cause chaos and mayhem and fun? 'Well who am I to question bogs on high, eh?'

But this plan would take subtlety.

    Cunning.

    Precision.

A patsy to pin it all on.

    Beast
The sharp retort of a gunshot sounds behind Smedry, and and Jack Frost collapses. It had taken Beast a moment to sort through all the weapons, wrapped in protective oilskins, for one he was certain would do the job. But he settled on one pretty fast. an elephant gun loaded with 30-378 wetherby hunting rounds. Top of the line ammunition. Just one shot would blow a person into chunky salsa, or kill a charging elephant. Beast isn't the sort to casually resort to lethal force, as his conversation with Smedry about the fate of Zim would demonstrate, but after Frost had boasted about killing a little girl, Beast had lost a lot of his inhibitions.

He turned to Horner, and pointed the gun. "I'll kill you as well, if I have to." He says softly but menacingly.

    Batgirl
Cass nods. There's an awkward moment where she stands there, still and silent, then it occurs to her that she needs to express herself a little more. Not something that comes easy to Batgirl, but she does her best. "Looking for Edward. Dangerous." Beneath her mask, she smiles a little shyly. He's a stranger, but she still managed to make her intentions perfectly clear, without having to resort to charades!

    Souske
The threat of physical force sets him off. He sinks into a shooting stance, points the gun, and pulls the trigger.

    Steph
Out of nowhere, Steph tackles him, knocking him onto the ground and sending the shot wide. She does her best to pin him, and really hopes she gets back-up quickly.

Rivalz Cardemonde might be a born follower destined to never amount to more then a supporting character in somebody else's story, but he's about bright enough not to be completely comfortable around you. You did stick a knife at him a few times, and he finds your smiling, charming manner and sociopathic undertones extremely scary. Too scary to say no to in fact.
Besides, who doesn't want to be rich?
"Sure!" He says, in a fair imitation of brightly. "Hey, who doesn't want to be rich, am I right?" You couldn't ask for better patsy material.
He even comes with his own transport. Sure, it's a bit beneath your dignity to passenger on a glorified electric scooter, but if the book delivers as promised (and your ever-present confidence won't let you believe otherwise) then chances are you'll be able to ride out in style.
    "So where too?"

    Beast, Smedry
Jack Frost has just a moment for his face to fall and his mouth to open before you pull the trigger. "Oh -" One can only guess what would have followed that single sylable, but it is my belief it would not have been 'dearie me.'
Then he shatters, reduced to pinkish icy chunks that rain out of the sky, leaving almost no trace at all. Jack Horner only smiles, unconcerned and above-it-all. "Good shooting, ace. Does the eyes good to see shooting as good as that on occasion. And you couldn't have picked a better target. To be honest, hated that absolutely uptight tit. There'll be another Jack Frost along by the time I get back, maybe he'll crack a smile on occasion." The office of Jack Frost has indeed been steadily filled by one Jack after another since Horner first conned the Queen of Winter Lumi out of the powers, but he exaggerates. They shall take some time to settle.
Jack Horner paused. It had gotten through his momentous ego that he'd just had the tables turned, and things were looking grim, once again, for the Jack's. "Oh. Right. Gun. Well, some-one should have told you, always four Jack's in a suit. Candle-Jack!"
A rope loops around Beast, and suddenly the big furred mutant is weightless and insubstantial, the gun slipping out of his fingers. A figure wrapped in a hood of sack-cloth holding a candle floats down behind him, indistinct as smoke, dark and shadowy and ragged having appeared from nowhere at all when he was called as he always did, his dark eyes fixed on his prize. "Boo." He says to Doctor McCoy. SCREAM!
Unlike the other Jack's, this one was a total mystery. What was he exactly? Nobody knew. Some whispered he began when Smiling Jack Candle the bandit rode the Wild West murdering and pillaging his way until he was beaten to death by an unarmed lawman, others whisper he is some boogie-man that feeds on the fears of children, but whatever he is, it would seem Jack Horner can direct him.
Horner winks. "That's him taken care of. Now it's just you Smedry. And knowing you, you've got some way to make sure we don't take you alive. Well if that's the cut of your jib, then fine, but you're companions aren't worth a treat without you. So this time you only get a warning. Don't try anything, or I'll polish off these two." He smiled, then picked up his shirt. "Take 'em away boys."

    Touga
Lelouch hesitates, then acquiesces with a nod. He is reluctant to reveal his resources and connections, but he did promise, and a man was only as good as his word. Of course, by the same token he has no intention of telling you how he gets the information. Too many people know the truth about him already. "I shall endeavor to see you there. And while I have never had the occasion to hold a sword before, I suspect you shall find me a quick study." With that he turns and walks away.

    Kidd

At hearing Hillary's statement Kidd collapses to the floor his hindquarters in the air and his fist pounding the ground in a childish tantrum. "Stop talking about it d*mmit! I know I'm asymmetrical garbage you don't have to rub it in! I should die!"

Then Robin pulls out the zanpakuto. Kidd's tantrum is halted quite abruptly as he sees it. When robin comes swinging at him he was on his feet in a split second his Skull Shields on both his arms blocking her sloppy strikes rather easily to due their size and Kidd's skill. His face is pulled into a very scary expression with a glare that would easily make one think that death was looking them in the face. "Where the HELL did you get that sword!!!!!" As he says this he attempts to use Soul Perception to look at her soul.

    Liz and Patti

Seeing Stephanie struggle Liz and Patti ran forward to help her hold him down as Liz says, "The hell's wrong with you guy! You could f*cking killed someone!"

    Maka and Soul

Maka nods to Cassandra as she shifts her scythe so that she is holding it in a non threatening position as she says, "I'm looking for Edward Cullen for that same reason. He is a dangerous individual. I'm guessing you don't know where he is either?"

There is a misconception about marital arts. That mastery in one equals mastery in all. Robin is no stranger to fighting. However, her specialties are biggest, shootiest guns she can find, and when she can't rely on that utilizes a form of modified savate. She's never really had to use a sword before, particularly one like this. Not that it seems to bother her too much. She's unnaturally strong, fast and nasty enough to stick it places you'd really rather she didn't. And as long as she's on the offensive and you're not, then who's to care? If that soul-knife touches you, it'll carve you up like a roast.
You catch her blade and she steps forward, attempting to use it as a leaver to trip you. "Wouldn't you like to know." She says, the intimidation wasted on her. So you utilize a more extreme manner to get to the bottom of it. You look into her eyes to read her soul (the lenses offer some protection, but you power through it), to find that she's simply a self-aware function much like yourself. She's an anthropomorphic personification of organizing and codifying things into a more orderly structure. Which is bizarre, but strangely appropriate.

She nods, pleased. He'd gotten it straight away! She was really getting the hand of this talking thing! It's easy, when you know how it's done. "Yes." She said, a tiny amount of emotional expression making it's way into her voice. This was so easy.
    "Find him?" She asks.

    Steph/Souske
Sagara is harder to get a grip on then the wind, and Steph can't do a thing as he breaks her hold easily and gets upright. He then draws the bayonet he was threatening people with earlier. Yes he could people. That's more or less exactly what the tools were made for.
Once Souske would have argued that it was the opposite, that weapons were there for the sake of not needing to use them. But that Souske was gone.

    Leavenworth Smedry

    [I should have expected this...]

    Gunshot! Jack Frost exploding.

"Oh!" Leavenworth said, pleasantly surprised as Hank returned with the weapons rather quickly and insta-gibbed Jack Frost. "Well, that turned out surprisingly well...now then, Mr. Horner, concerning Ms. Anarchy's wherea–"

It's Leavenworth's turn to have his eyes widen and his face crinkle into a look of dismay as Jack summons C–...that one guy.

He turns around, sword raised up in a threatening gesture towards the hooded man...who tightens his grip on Professor McCoy's neck and glares at the Smedry with a silent promise.

Smedry's eyes glare murder, he prepares to do something reckless–

But then he thinks about his options. Thinks about the stakes. Thinks about that strange alien boy.

His shoulders sag. He turns around to face Jack Horner.

"It seems, Mr. Horner...that you've won this long dance of ours." He replies. "I'll surrender to you if you promise to release my friend."

He flips his arming sword upside down and twists the pommel around 180º. A faint clicking noise comes from the sword's hilt.

"But I won't have you let him go only to have him meet a grisly end in this wilderness. Ms. Anarchy is the means by which McCoy can return to his own dimension: release her unharmed and without any ironic twists or 'letter of the law' cruelties, and I'll stop the countdown. If not...sometimes, a quick death for your friends is better mercy than other fates."

Leavenworth's features are set and tense...but his expression looks thoroughly beaten.

    "What say you?"

    Jack Horner
Jack looks at you thoughtfully, a long moment, gauging you and weighing you the way he might look at a mark before deciding just how much it would be safe to fleece off them before they started to get suspicious, then shakes his head slowly. "No can do I'm afraid, my fine gent, even if you do throw yourself to the wolves. Dead or alive it is, and I suppose if you're dead-set on tossing yourself to the wolves then all I can do is appeal to your innate sense of decency not to squander a long and succesful life on an obscure point of principle."
Then he smiles affably, and you could almost forgive him. A man as utterly despicable shouldn't be able to smile like that, shouldn't be able to come off as a lovable rogue and evade the consequences of his actions just by smiling, but Jack has made it into a fine-art. " But I'm afraid they know too much. They're being shipped off with you. Can't have them dropping a name to someone who'll know what to do with it, or plotting a rescue. Besides, while they're small potatoes solo, with Levenworth Smedry (dead-or-alive) then they're his infamous gang. But don't worry. Jack Ketch here is all booked up 'til June. They won't be meeting him anytime soon."
Candle Jack glides down the road, leaving Beast bobbing weightlessly entangled in the rope, and returns leading the wagon. The internal combustion engine has been made redundant in Idris by the use of glass springs under the axles of the wagons, an invention so obvious it can barely be imagined that it wasn't once self-evident.
"Now leave the sword right there, and get on board. Oh, and put the sack over your head, if you don't mind. Like to keep the ways secret." He says, then climbs aboard up the front, and takes the reigns. "Any time now is good."

    Gary
A tall, statuesque woman with redish brown hair pulled back in a pony-tail and horn-rimmed glasses steps into the office. She has a pair of very, very big guns (you don't often see girls of that calibre), and is dressed in a latex catsuit that makes her figure extremely noticable. For a moment she stares at you, at the state of the office, and at the files scattered everywhere, somewhat incredulous. Then she shakes her head, and raises an eyebrow.
"Haven't seen Atticus, have you?" She asks sweetly. "We have a date." Something about her tone makes it clear that the guidance-councilor was very smart to attempt to make his escape.

    Batgirl, Maka
You didn't see where Edward went, but given the army surrounding the school and the lack of cover on the school grounds, the only place he really could have gone after leaving the main building is to the small, carefully trimmed pines trees at the back of the grounds. That, or the groundskeepers shed, but that seems unlikely, given that everything you've observed of Willie would suggest 'dangerous lunatic'.

    Leavenworth Smedry

[I'm trying to surrender, but this guy just keeps making these expressions. That make Leavenworth want to punch him.]

    *Dammit*

Smedry grits his teeth. There are so many things that he wants to do to that thrice-damned Jack Horner. But deep in his heart, he knows...that he's helpless. In this time and moment, he has no options.

    Smedry bows his head.

"Right then. Can't blame an old man for trying..." He says. And begins walking forward.

As Jack Horner sticks a leg on the wagon to hoist himself up, Smedry frowns.

"Almost forgot–you'd want me to disarm. Here you go."

He casually tosses the still ticking sword to Jack Horner. Point first. In his upper leg.

Then he smiles, and hold his hands out.

"Right then! Are there to be handcuffs?"

    Gary Bell

Gary starts doing database searches on the school principal/Souske's superior officer. It's time to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Pacing around the office, fingers 'tuning' at the air in front of him, he starts as he notices the woman standing behind him. Glasses, Catsuit, hair–she's dating him? Wow...oh. Oh wait. She's using a sinister metaphor.

Gary frantically panics over what to do. How to defuse her attention from him.

He falls back on his chief tactic to avoid attention...exaggerating his social ineptness.

"He went out. These papers...they're made from a old style of pulp from endangered trees, you can tell from the edges. They shouldn't be thrown away like this without proper recycling. Is Myalamar latex? I don't like the texture of latex, it's slimy-feeling."

    {Don't blame you. But Jack's kinda meant to be an *******, so I'll take that as evidence I got the characterization more or less right}

Jack Horner yelped comically as the blade pierced his left buttocks, and jumped in the air. After a moment, he turned to glare at you, eyes narrowed, before, with a grimace, pulling out the sword and tossing it on the road. "Good enough." He says, for once managing not to get petty. He's saving it up for later, when he can really get back at you.
He slapped the reins, and the wagon took off smoothly, moving through the woods, heading along the grass pathway led right to it, beneath an archway of green where two apple trees mingled their branches (forming, as if by accident, the number 19). The wagon headed that way, it's movements a little like swimming and a little like flying.
The sun was sinking by the time you got to Alicante, the city of glass, capital of Idris. The little lands and worlds that inhabited interconnected 196,832 pocket worlds around the central world are too numerous to list. But can be divided, with broad strokes, into three groups, The Territories that were under the thumb of the librarians, the Disputed Lands where war still raged between the factions, and the Free Kingdoms. Idris was right on the edge of the Territories, the lands under the Adverary's control. These days, since it turned traitor and defected back to the librarians, it is used mostly as a prison for those captured in the wars. Nobody knew what happened to them, once they were imprisoned, for nobody ever returned, but stories arrived anyway each one more fearsome then the last. The current dominant theory is you slowly stop existing, until you retroactively never even were, and become something completely other.
Just another day in the life of a Smedry.

    Batgirl, Maka
You head into the woods at the edge of the grounds. At first, the underbrush is thick, but soon it lightens ub, and at last you come to a clearing. Edward Cullen has his back to you, and is staring at a plain, mousy girl named Bella, who you have seen about your classes, and who Cass saw Souske almost shoot. "Oh, Bella, I know our families will never understand. I know people will thing it's strange for a hundred year old aristocratic vampire to love a common, ordinary girl. That the sheer imbalance between our life-experiences, emotional maturity, depth and range of memories and the fact that we are a completely peartrees species means that our love can never be true."
His bottom lip trembled as he began to get emotional. "But I love it when you tell me how boys your own age are shallow and don't understand you, and how unfair it is for your father to give you a curfew, and how your teachers all try to quash your individuality and make you conform. I know that we can never be intimate, but…"
"Will you stare at me, Edward?" Her voice was husky and hoarse with lust.
"Intensely?" He queried, turning the full force of his smoldering brooding handsomeness upon her.
    "As intensely as you dare."

Priscilla is nowhere near patient enough to put up with this. For a moment, she considers giving you the enemy operative treatment, then interrogating you, but she decides against it. You probably don't actually know anything. So she steps into the room, and makes a sort of sniffing noise, closing her eyes. For a moment, she mulls it over, then walks out, heading towards the third floor.
Sam Axe is a former navy seal who got promoted to captain the old fashioned way (glory road), worked in intelligence and espionage, became one of the greatest operatives ever, then seemingly retired a month ago, in order to become the principal of a prestigious academy. Something about that story seems less then convincing, but then nobody is supposed to have gotten this far into the database, so the massive holes in the story are starting to come to light.
His last deployment was indeed with the Dewey Decimal division, in Germany putting down an uprising in the Black Forest. There was nothing about that in the news, and the whole thing is so classified that the scans look like they've been worked over by a black high-lighter. Though given the length of the deployment specs, they were taking it seriously, as that's a truly staggering percentage of the entire occupying force of Western Europe.

    Alex Delarge
The casino was the biggest thing on the reservation, a truly staggering thirty stories tall bedecked with tasteless neon and glittering lights, and on bigger grounds then the Academy. Why they could afford such an obscenely over-done eyesore, however lived in a little provincial shit-hole of a village is a very good question, and one I don't claim to have the answers to. Like why a prestigious academy and opera house is built in a town without anything like the population density to support either of them.
Rivalz parks the crappy scooter between a beautiful silver Aston Martin and a glossy black Bentley, and heads up the strip. The massive golden doors slide open automatically, perfectly balanced as they are, and a tall, swarthy gentleman, in beads, buckskins, feathers and moccasins with clay body paint raises a hand. "How." He says. You're dressed in your best, so you pass under his scrutiny as an acceptable guest. "I am Black Crow, in your language. Welcome to The Full Moon Casino."

Harry shrugs. "F*ck 'em. We used the land the white-man give us as our ancestors intended, and became rich. Who needs kids?"
Billy sighed. "Suppose you're right." His son was quite the disappointment. Maybe he could do better next time. he was immortal, after all.

    Harry Potter
You defeated Alex Russo off screen, using ingenuity, wits, and lots of fire. You didn't kill her, but you certainly put her in her place, and taught her not to squander the gifts that made her as a god. Now, you have other concerns. You have to find the boy who claimed he wished to be a hero, and you have to find somewhere to sleep. For the war is about to get bloody,
Salem frowns. For a moment, just a moment, she thought she sensed something…

Atticus, desperate to grasp onto anything, grabs your bag and rips it open violently, spilling pens and notebooks everywhere. But not finally demonstrating the position of the Tome of Eldritch Evil (Long Forgotten) that he'd hoped to find.

    Kidd

Yes what she was fit her in a bizarrely appropriate way. However it also ticked Kidd off quite a bit. He continues blocking her attacks with his skull shields as he says, "So that's what you are. Your like me. However I can never forgive you! You supposed to personify the organizing of things into a more orderly structure. Yet you were those asymmetrical abominations on your face. That is something...that can never be forgiven!"

With that on her next strike Kidd would tilt his defending shield to make her slash go wide so that it would take more time to recover. He would then lash out with a kick to try and make her drop the weapon.

    Liz and Patti

Liz and Patti back up from Souske as Liz says, "Look pal, just calm down. You won't be doing yourself any favors if you kill someone. Just calm down."

    Maka and Soul

Soul mentally starts fake vomiting to show his disgust with the scene. Even Maka has a twitch in her eyebrow from the scene. It was, quite frankly, horrible. She whispers as quietly as she can to Batgirl, "I'll take care of Edward. This is something I have to do. So please let me take care of it."

    Batgirl
If the bizare but macabrely amusing (in a sad sort of way) scene is bad for the shinigami, it's completely dull for the vigilante. As has been demonstrated time and time again, Batgirl isn't really like other people. She doesn't really understand the words, and their body language is so completely, desperately open that there isn't all that much to see there either. Given that, despite a small crush on Souske, the girl is more or less completely asexual, the rest of it doesn't make any sense to her at all. She honestly wonders why they feel they have to say so much and express so little. And why her companions were having such extreme reactions. Some form of attack?

"Why laugh?" She says quietly into her ear to Oracle, who is splitting at the sides she's laughing so hard. Barbara Gordan considered attempting to explain the awkward courtship they were witnessing in terms that Cass would understand, and gave up before she'd even started. It would be like explaining Facebook to Bruce. Cass only gets even more confused.

Then they pull themselves together, and Cass nods once. "Not hurt girl." She says, pointing at Bella, then folds her arms, indicating 'go ahead'. Edward was a pushover. The two of them would have no trouble subduing him at all.

    Kongming
In life, the foremost strategist of his (and perhaps any) generation had an enviable ability to effortlessly read the flow of patterns, whether of battle, the weather, economics or anything else. He could do it so well he seemed almost able to see the future. And he could also read people. His strategies resolved around quickly judging his opponents and then anticipating their actions, which he did with both imagination and skill. Indeed, many believed him able to read minds as well.

He could do neither. He had no magic, merely an unmatched understanding and insight into the universe. And yet…

He could not alter the will of heaven, no mortal could. It was the height of hubris to believe so. But he had, in a way, changed destinies of men, whether by his own designs or that of another. Men had come to him unpolished, diamonds in the rough, and he had taken what was already there and magnified it, making better men of them, and so giving them new futures. Perhaps he could defuse this situation, and perhaps not, yet it seemed he had to try.

Gliding forward, he placed a hand down on Souske's shoulder, heedless of the knife. It would take a lot more then that to kill him, and if he willed he could have it from the boy in the blink of an eye. But simply asserting himself as stronger, that might made right, would be wrong.

"They are not your enemies, soldier." He says sternly. "There is no call for you to threaten them." He then catches the knife between two fingers as Souske tries to jab it into his throat, and continues. "Are you not ashamed of your actions? Of your designs? Is this the way warriors conduct themselves in this nation, threatening the helpless, soft and weak? Shame on you."

    Souske
He collapses, unconscious. By midnight, he'll be dead.

The living dead have many monsters, and no matter how many times they are defeated they always return in a new form. Many years ago, that form was Vampires. But they've learned since then, vampires are a genetic dead end, as far as monsters go, and it is only thanks to their effective immortality that they have yet to realize that they are, in every meaningful way, already extinct. They cannot reproduce with each other, they need to consume their weight in blood faster then they can metabolize to be capable of sexual performance, and are only capable of successful reproduction with a human.
Edward suddenly stops the closest he can get to physical gratification, to turn and stare directly at the three of you. His super-vampirehearing had detected your quite understandable sounds of disgust at his clumsy courtship. There was something about Bella, that made him always want to be around her, soaking her in, like a plant soaks in the rays of the sun. "Stay here, Bella." He said, handsomely, before marching off to fight you, quite unaware that, having spent so much time around Bella, all his powers had long since been sucked away. He was currently about as dangerous as a limp noodle.

    Kidd
She sees it coming and is out of the way before it can connect, springing up into the air and executing a tightly controlled back-flip over your head to land perfectly behind you. She turns smoothly, graceful as a dancer, takes a step back, then plants the sword tip-first into the ground. leaving it standing up, having lost faith in the dubious benefits of unfamiliar magic weaponry forged from the souls of Deaths army.
"This isn't working. Sis? Gun." She says, not talking to you after your…outburst, worried you'll go off the handle at her again. Hillary tosses her the M7, and she unleashes a hail of bullets at you, enough to turn a platoon into chunky salsa.

I got buried man... they buried me... alive... Not even... finals. Whatheell... whathe'ell...

    Touga

At the appointed hour, Lelouch meets Touga in the school's dueling room. Kiryuu is equipped with a standard practice sword, and begins his lesson; "To begin with, do as I say here, and act when I act. The beginning of every fight starts with the individual. You determine the victor; not strength or skill or even God on High. Victory stems from the power of one's self. And so, knowing that, do you believe you would win in a fight against me if we were to fight right now?"

    Alex

"Yoz dotsy'..." Alex admires. What he could with any night here. DeLarge snaps out of his greed-laden reverie to remind Rivalz, "Alright, you remember the plan? We split up. You go in. You win some. Make sure to lose some so they don't wise on up. When I've got what I need, I'll head to the door. You're not there, you're lommed. Savvy?" Alex had written down some winning numbers for 'Blue John', but not all. He intended to reap a little reward for himself too, before moving on to his main business.

Inside, Alex smiles at the burly man in front of him and says, "How back, chief! Me and my friend here are lookin' for a lil' bit of luck at the tables. What say you take him to someone who will show him the ropes, eh? He's a little green, if you catch my meaning. I'll take care of myself, no worries."

Without even waiting for a response, DeLarge swiftly uses what little cash is on him for chips and finds himself a roulette table and settles down. It's like watching a hawk grab a rabbit and fly to its nest; one smooth course of action. First thing in the book, Wheel of Fate 19 Black. Good a place as any to start.

As Alex places his bet, he hears three simultaneous groans of despair in musical harmony from across the table. He recognizes the voices; sure enough, the three choir-boys that always follow Touga around sit across from him. They shouldn't be a problem for much longer, though; they're out of chips, and two of them are trying to bet with spare pairs of glasses while the remaining blond one throws a cell-phone on the table.

Alex can't help but wonder if everybody's luck is rotten tonight. Maybe it's a sign; they suffer so he can prosper. In the end, isn't that what matters? Prices have to be paid, and it's only what somebody gives up that determines value. And how can anyone put a price on a good time?

    Sam Axe
Unusually for most career soldiers, especially life-long elites and intelligence operatives, Sam wasn't a patriot by any means. That required a certain romanticism in the makeup that Sam didn't have. He was too practical, down to earth and aware of the empire's underlying brutality to have any of that in him at all. However, neither was he amoral or without scruples, or unashamedly opportunistic. He wasn't even a revolutionary, or anything of the sort. He actually didn't think much about politics at all. He was honest and forthright in his dealings, perceptive and experienced, and not afraid to use his common sense (explaining his inability to progress any further up the ranks).
He kept his eyes open. And it didn't take a man as experienced as him to realize that there's something unusual going on at Ashford Academy. One of the red flags is the government involvement in a private facility. What's more, since taking over Ashford, they'd used it to conduct some sort of social experiments. He was a bit hazy on the details, but Sergent Souske was beginning to sound less paranoid the more he looked into it. Maybe he was onto something. Maybe that's why…
He shook his head, but the suspicion didn't go away. Beneath its placid facade, the school is involved in the torture of students as well as various investigations into occult and supernatural phenomenon that had no business being conducted here. And now the soldiers were to encamp the place and let nobody leave under any circumstances, in order to force results. He didn't like it.
Now out of uniform and comfortable in a loud Hawaiian shirt, linen slacks, loafers and flashy jewelry, including a pinky ring and Rolex watch, he's become even more out of place in the academy then he was yesterday. He does not look like the man in charge. Not a bit, And he didn't feel like it either, not after a good half an hour of being bullied by Mily Ashford into not intefering with the scheduling of the summer dance (fairy tale themed).
And now, to induct the new staff. Wonderful. He thinks to himself, then gets up and lets them in. It was the third day of school, and his predecessor was dead (for sure), along with the Society and Culture teacher (in a gruesome and bloody fashion), and the School Councilor (his head had been crushed by something, which really didn't bear thinking about). The English teacher had never showed up, and was very suspiciously missing. The Chemistry and History Teacher had both vanished into thin air, and to make matters worse, the physical education teacher Mr. Oliver (citing a family emergency) had left as well, leaving him a grand total of one active original faculty member (the groundskeeper). There was a back-up history teacher, however there was no record of him anywhere, and if matters weren't so desperate (and they were certainly desperate) Sam would drive him off the facility personally.
They'd made the news alright. But a degree at Ashford Academy was something no renaissance man who wanted to be considered nobility on the Americas East Coast could be without, and was even respected in Europe, so parents continued to offer up their children like sacrificial lambs.
He opens the door, and lets the replacements file in.
Mr Gribbs (the new Geography Teacher) was a tall, broad-shouldered individual who had 'thug' written all over him; his flattened nose looked like it had been broken multiple times, his eyes were small and mean and his suit fit him with an awkwardness that indicated a man not accustomed to dressing himself for success. Sam didn't let his obvious physicality worry him.
Georgina Daramount (Ms. Daramount) was tall and prim, in an extremely provocative way. Her sensible skirt was a touch too short, her sensible jacket a touch too tight and figure-hugging, both designed to draw attention and provoke. Sam would guess she was perhaps in her middle thirties, with dark hair in a bun, blue eyes with a firm set that made her appear stern, and a smile that cut like a knife. The mathematics teacher.
Helena Rosa Bertinelli was a spicy italian, and if he was a decade or two younger he'd have swept her off her feet and married her if she'd let him. She was here to teach english. Well, at least there's be no truancy among the boys in regards to any class she taught. He also noted the way she held herself erect, much like special forces did. Another one to watch.
Around about the time Emma Frost stepped in, he decided this was probably going to become a theme, but to him that was no issue at all. Quite the opposite actually, though she was dressed in a slinky white number that left nothing to the imagination and would be far more suitable gliding your way on the arm of some distant cousin of the emperor through high society then teaching the children of the future. He'd recommend she got something a little more conservative later on. She would be teaching social propriety.
And that was all they could round up on such short notice, minus the new gym teacher and the history teacher, and Mr Gecko (former treasurer of the entire nation) to teach economics, who hadn't arrived yet. Well, let's see how this works out.

    A Clockwork Orange
The brave nods, grabs Rivalz and leads him right over to dice, steering him with a hand the size of a shovel. That's good. He'll be making so much noise over there, you'll only get just enough notice.
Roulette. The wheel turns, around and around the ball goes, and where it stops, nobody knows. Nobody except you, that is. You've got friends in very low places. The ball bounces, rolling down satan's alley (I know that's dice, but it's such a lovely metaphor) as red and black blurs past. Even you cannot deny the sheer, visceral excitement, the almost primal feel as you take a risk and trust to sheer dumb luck and fortune's favor. Even with foreknowledge of the result, it's still an exciting experience. It stops on black Nineteen, and your tiny pile of chips grows by a magnitude of 35. Everyone at the table gasps, as your win enchants you with a certain glamor the men looking at you with a mixture of admiration and envy, as the women regard your manly qualities with even more admiration then normal. If you wanted one of them, you wouldn't have had to ask twice. And the night was only warming up.
Touga's three followers all bare their teeth at you, having managed to scrape and scrimp a single bet between them and missed out by the narrowest of margins. The blond one had lifted the man next to him's wallet, you notice. It would seem they are lacking on the class front.
You're about to place your second bet, when another tall indian (dressed in buckskins and with bead jewelry and feathers woven into his hair) places a velvety hand on your shoulder.
"I admire your luck, mister Delarge." He says, though you haven't told anyone your name since you got here. Without another word, he indicates the blackjack table behind him. "How's your courage?"

    Touga
Lelouch meets your gaze levelly. In his fencing whites he looks a little more hopeful, he's not strong, and has no endurance to speak of, but he is deceptively quick, and though he lacks an eye for it, he is at least holding the foil correctly. "I believe that a fight is not over until I win. No matter what the other man might think." He said, meaning every word. "Man is not meant for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated."
"Hemingway." Came a smooth, cultured voice that nonetheless had an undertone of gravel, and a tall man in white bowed low from the entry way. The room was supposed to be empty, you booked it and everything.
"Old man and the sea." Lelouch nodded.
"Now he was a man among men." The Man in white chuckled, and pushed back a few strands of greying, grizzled hair out of his face that he wore unfashionably long, and smiled through his beard. "Grace under pressure. We are all apprentices in a craft without a master… but forgive me, I have not introduced myself. I am the academy's new master at arms, and physical education supervisor, count Dantes, " Again, the courtly bow. "Though fellow followers of the sword should feel free to call me by my christian name, Edmond."

[Sorry about the long absence. Alls the Homework.]

    Gary Bell

Gary considers snapping a photo of Priscilla as she walks off, but has a feeling she would object to that.

He memorizes her features–the feature that you put into a person of interest search database, and heads off, wandering back towards campus.

He keeps an eye out for all the people he's gotten dirt on. But as he walks, he thinks over that strange encounter with the British Library database, how it actually reacted to his attempted intrusions, evolved, evaded...almost like it could think.

Gary feels a huge tug of curiousity. And so, pulling out his custom smart phone, he starts sending out some packets of code, over a few signal wavelengths here and there.

And over in the British Isles, at several branches from Manchester to London, a series of dummy identities reserve a huge quantity of books–every single copy of the same book, in fact. Handshakes and Hellos: A Self-Help Guide to Overcoming Shyness and Introducing Yourself to People.

    Translation: Hi.

After all, Gary thought. If you want to talk to a sentient library, how else would you go about it?

    Smedry

Smedry starts memorizing details. When he escapes, these details will be vital to winning the war effort.

And he does have a plan. It's a plan that relies on luck and bending civil customs, but he's hardly in a position to complain.

Aside from the nudity. He actually finds himself looking forward to prison clothes.
