But didn't Altmax tell Not-Walter not to use Fireball, as so he can loot the body? Unless he gives the order to use it, he cannot deny Altmax's orders.

On the other hand, it could have a trait like the World's Largest Dungeon setting, a 'locked demiplane' where you can't be Dismissed or Banished by any means once summoned.

The banishment effect of blasphemy only occurs if the caster is on it's home plane. So I'm thinking everyone involved is safe from that.

I can't decide if that was more or less badass than I expected. On one hand, it's a really brave move to put yourself in that situation and then bargain like he couldn't just squeeze you to death with one hand. On the other hand, compare her snarl on the prior page and compare it to panel 1 here.....thwup. Sort of anti-climatic don't you think?

Note that she's still got her tail coiled around his neck. My impression is that she had planned to try to strangle him... And when it failed horribly, she came up with plan B on the fly and trying to prevent what would otherwise have been a very messy death.

Goblins vs. LFG isn't until next round, actually - this one seems to be Goblins VS "Scandanavia and the World", and LFG vs "Unsounded".

Scandinavia and the World is a cute, sometimes funny webcomic about stereotypes that generally manages not to be offensive. Nothing to write home about: it's not great and it's not awful. I'd still vote for it against LFG if it had won.

Unsounded is a great comic. While it's far from perfect, at least the setting diverges a bit from "generic video game fantasy universe" and the characters are characterized as something else than pop-culture reference and 4chan meme generators. So, that means it is leagues ahead of Looking For Group, and that it is doomed to suffer humiliating defeat in any popularity contest like this one.

I'm not exactly Thunt's biggest fan, but next round I'll vote Goblins against LFG. After that, though, if Goblins wins it'll be against Erfworld or Girls With Slingshots. Dunno how that'll go. Erfworld won the previous year's tournament, and GWS has a bigger fanbase than I expected.

I felt like LFG was going somewhere for a while, but now it just seems to be wandering around again, and I'm still not sure what the heck is going on and can't keep everything straight, and I've read it twice through. Goblins will definitely get my vote.

It surprises me that Erfworld took it last year, unless OOTS wasn't a contestant? I feel like OOTS' fan base alone should guarantee a big win.

Also, it's a shame all of my favorite comics are for the most part in one bracket. I feel like Dr. McNinja is SUCH a good comic, but when it's McNinja vs. OOTS there's not much choice...

Back to the topic at hand, I definitely did not see this coming, though it goes to show what a near epic intelligence contributes if roleplayed well. How does Banishment interact with Grapple? Surely she'll command him to let her down first, though.

Why is Kin still wearing that collar anyway? I'd burn something like that the first chance I had.

Can she not not remove it herself or ask some to take it off?

She explained why she wouldn't take the risk to remove it.

Also, the collar is from Goblinslayer.

Wow. That explanation is silly. The collar is a super nuke, and yet they decided the best use for it is to enslave some serpent lady? I hope that was just a lie they told her, or it's very sloppy worldbuilding.

No. Someone developed a Super Nuke Spell, which Goblinslayer decided he wanted to put on the collar as a safeguard. So theoretically, there's a guy out there Super-nuking people; we just don't see him.

On a more serious note, I'm hoping this means Fumbles is over his Heroic BSOD (considering he didn't speak, except for his battlecry, in the last scene he was in, I wasn't completely sure). Then again, this strip is non-canon...

Well to be fair it IS really detailed, and he spends pretty much all his time drawing, making at least one all-nighter per week i believe. Plus he's got the tempts fate thing too.

I believe they are trying to hire another artist to work on the monster adventuring party storyline, which will take some stress off of Thunt and possibly allow him some days off. (i believe it would take up one of the two update days per week? I don't know the full details.)

The Monster Adventuring Party isn't part of the main story, and would be a spinoff comic. It wouldn't affect Thunt's workload at all.

Personally I'd be a lot happier with Thunt sacrificing some quality and making updates more consistently. Even just forgoing the shading touch-ups he's been applying after the fact recently would free up a fair bit of his time, but even dropping the drawing quality some to get the 2 updates a week without him working 70 hours a week.
If my text is blue, I'm being sarcastic. But you already knew that, right?

I would never want quality sacrificed for time. I kinda miss one-a-week. Backgrounds were hella more extensive back then.
