Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Beating game, and gen 5. Interesting idea with the choice band. That might work out well.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Basic method to use Slaking: Giga Impact with Choice Band. After one-shoting everything you fight against, when asked to use a new Pokemon, switch. You'll never suffer the consequences of using Slaking. Give him Earthquake and a Dark-type Physical attack to help hit all the Pokemon that resist your ridiculous Giga Impact.
By the way, don't know how you're intending to use it to beat Gen V...

More on going round 2 on elite four. I'm looking at different ways of winning.
Thanks for the advice.Last edited by ThePhantom; 2012-02-26 at 11:48 PM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Unfortunately, it'd be hard for Slaking to tap Cofagrigus with that moveset. Pretty sure he'd just die to Sucker Punch plus your opponent's attacks before Gigas gets to hit him. Unfortunate, if awesome if you ever successfully pull it off.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
On a critical hit (assuming both have max IVs in their respective stats), that would be an average of 142 damage, or just enough to either take cofagrigus out or leave it at very low health. On a normal hit, that's a range of 66-78 damage.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
I mean, in Double you can expect to get double Surf'd in Rain a large percentage of the time. So much Weather and Trick Room in Doubles. I don't think very many people do competitive triples, at least as far as I know.
Rotations would be such an awesome tournament, though. So much insane strategic thought!

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Are there any repeatable trainer battles in Black pre-E4 other than the Stadiums? Preferably higher levelled?

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
There's the two Rotation (Black) or Triple (White) Battles in Opelucid City's battle house, but you're generally better off just going in wild pokemon battles.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
...I totally forgot about Audino.
I just picked up Black again after several months. I was in the middle of EV training then, and I can't find my notes. More importantly, I can actually do real IV breeding in postgame.
I really wish the Flamethrower TM was not in post game (Ice Beam too, I guess). Fire Blast is nice, but I'd really prefer the extra PP for taking on the E4.Last edited by tonberrian; 2012-02-27 at 09:51 PM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
I normally trained on Route 10 or Victory Road's patch of grass looking for Audinos. Victory Road also has things like Bouffalant. Just attach a Lucky Egg or Exp. Share that you're sure to have by then (kinda impossible to not have) and you're golden.
Money in Black?Short? Every 10 trainers you fight in Black City gives you 10,000p. Plus attaching an amulet coin during the S.S. Unova fights and the Stadium fights in Nimbasa City, I've never been short on money.
Miss-read, sorry.Last edited by drew2u; 2012-02-28 at 12:28 PM.

Anyone know if there's a Shiny Gold equivalent for RSE-to-DS? I have a 3DS, but I have a flashcart, and I don't like computer-based emulators.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
Nope. Those games have not been remade yet. I honestly hope they never are, just because remakes are meh and they already remade what are, in my opinion, the two best, most nostalgic generations that newer generations probably hadn't played.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
IV Breeding is weirdly... entertaining. You'd think that riding back and forth on your bike, punctuated intermittently by visits to the battle subway for IV calculation+documentation would be boring as heck, but I've been doing it for hours and, well, loving it. I now have a thoroughly superior serperior. (I amuse myself).

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
So I have been tinkering around with this anti-meta team...been doing decent against the teams I expected it to.
I actually had an opponent who described it as "running circles around my team".
SpoilerLead/Anti-lead
Sableye @ Leftovers
Prankster
Bold
252 HP/132 Def/124 SpDef
-Taunt
-Will-o-Wisp
-Recover
-Night Shade
Locking down physical threats and stopping Ferro/Forry/Skarm from doing anything relevant. Max HP and mixed defenses + Leftovers for superior survivability. Also, lead Stealth Rockers are prevented. NS is carried for Espeon and faster Sableyes.
Rain Abuse
Kingdra @ Lum Berry
Swift Swim
Adamant
144 HP/252 Atk/112 Spe
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Outrage
-Return
The greatest counter to Rain teams is the former King(dra) of Rain. Normally Swift Swim + Drizzle is banned, however there is no clause about using other people's rain. Hitting a staggering 702 Speed after one DD in the rain, along with 476 Attack, you are going to crush many of the standard bulky waters (Jellicent gets 2HKO and Lum clears away any WoW).
Other walls, such as Ferrothron or Skarmory are taken care of by teammates.
Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Modest
144 HP/252 SpAtk/112 Spe
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Will-o-Wisp
-Pain Split
Part of a Volt-Turn combo with Scizor, RW is a standard Special attacker who all the cool kids use with a Choice Scarf, however, with the bulky set you can scout your opponent as well as cripple physical threats.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant
Technician
244 HP/252 Atk/12 Spe
-U-Turn
-Bullet Punch
-Pursuit
-Superpower
Possibly the core of the team, Scizor has two main objectives:
1) Physical Sweeper half of the Volt-Turn
2) Form a 3-prong trap* with Magnezone and Dugtrio
Overall, still a very potent threat, able to take out Choiced Terrakion and other glass cannons.
Magnezone @ Leftovers
Magnet Pull
Modest/Timid
6 HP/252 SpAtk/252 Spe
-Volt Switch
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power: Fire
-Substitute
Solid check to Ferrothorn/Forretress/Skarmory/Scizor able to lock them in and KO with the appropriate move. Able to Volt switch in case of an errant U-Turn from Scizor.
Dugtrio @ Focus Sash
Arena Trap
Adamant
6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Reversal
-Sucker Punch
Revenge killer, and the best way to stop a Ninetails/Heatran/Tyranitar.
Solid mid-game cleaner, doing respectable damage and trapping opponents, Dugtrio can catch an opponent off guard if they leave a weakened Pokemon on the field.
*The 3-Prong Trap is effectively where you switch around until your opponent has something you can 1) Pursuit trap 2) Magnet Pull or 3) Arena Trap. A fun example I have is Rotom Volt -Switching on a Blissey switch to Scizor, who then U-turns on the Magnezone into Dugtrio who goes for the kill.
Or you switch out against a Ferrothorn into your own Magnezone. More or less, you keep your enemy on tilt until they get caught with their proverbial pants down and wrecked by the appropriate check.
EDIT: Double checked on PO, Kingdra is faster that I thoughtLast edited by boj0; 2012-02-29 at 09:53 AM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
I'm currently training up an Axew for the E4 in Unova. She's Adamant with a 31 IV in Attack, bless her heart (though her other stats aren't much to write home about).
Only 9 more levels until she learns Outrage, then I can let her evolve.
Edit: So it appears that I am in a unique situation where my Haxorus can hack Reshiram down into slivers of hp with two moves guaranteed (seeing as how I managed to do it on basically THE WORST DEFENSE FOR RESHIRAM EVER with a 70 power move, and I have a 75 standing by). My question is thus: how can I make sure I get the Reshiram I want with the least frustration?
Edit the second: So apparently you save automatically after beating the game. Anyone want to help me trade in my Reshiram for a TOTALLY LEGITIMATE one? Perfect IVs, no EVs, Timid, shiny, and level 50, please?
Edit the THIRD because the forums frown on double posting: Have you ever gone back to an old save and thought to yourself, "What the HECK was I thinking?"Last edited by tonberrian; 2012-02-29 at 11:03 PM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
The way for a legitimate Reshiram/Zekrom that's acceptable is to check its stats during the fight with N, then calculating the likelihood that it has this or that nature and IV spread.
(Also, shiny Reshiram/Zekrom is blatantly illegitimate: the code expressly forbids one from appearing. Most requests for "TOTALLY LEGITIMATE" Pokémon are for those that are indistinguishable from Pokémon generated by the system's RNG or handed out by Nintendo events.)Last edited by Mando Knight; 2012-03-02 at 05:11 PM.

Re: Pokémon XII: Truth of the Ideal Thread
I'll take #7. If it's spoken for by someone else, I'll take any female with Marvel Scale.
No name request, I would just like it for my gene pool.
If you want, I can offer you females of: Magic Guard Abra, Immunity Gligar, Hustle Nidoran, or Frisk Sentret. In addition, I can offer PP Ups or any species replicable by breeding in regards to Pokedex filler. You said it was a give away, but I'd love to pay you back if it's possible.Last edited by Talvereaux; 2012-03-02 at 04:31 PM.
