Anybody want a fairly mediocre male Gen IV Riolu with a 31 Atk IV?

How much have you played? I've been playing since Gen II and I've played every single game in the series at least once past defeating the Elite 4. I also don't use repels, ever (until post-game). That's a lot of random encounters, so finding a shiny isn't too much to ask.

But yeah, it's entirely completely random. Honestly, I'm surprised Emerald didn't screw me and throw Shinies at me in Battle Frontier or something.

About that much. Gold, Ruby, Sapphire, Pearl, Platinum twice, SoulSilver, Black 1.5 times, and I'm just starting another SoulSilver run.

So I'm crafting a Region for Pokemon Tabletop Adventures and I have just finished the preliminary design for one of the gym badges. I was wondering what you guys would think of it:

    I present the Drill Badge!
    "So...the orphan attacked you?
    "Aye"
"And so you cut him down with your axe in self defense."
    "Aye..."
    "I don't believe you."
"Damn...would ye believe that th' orphan was an alien?"
    "No"
    "Damn."

Ah, yeah, that's just awful luck. I can be certain I've beaten Silver, Gold twice, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Firered twice, Pearl, Diamond (up to after Elite 4), Platinum, SoulSilver, and Black, which is a lot of gametime. I didn't actually beat Crystal but I played halfway through it. I also restarted Sapphire about halfway through, though I forget why. I'm currently in my All Smeargle Run of HeartGold, but I haven't played it in a while.

I actually want to start a Nuzlocke in my White version, mostly because I feel like it'd be amusing. I mean, think about this: N himself is doing some kind of Nuzlocke run. He always only has Pokemon from the regions around him. Perhaps after you keep beating him he's like, "well, guess it's time to try again." I dunno, it's kinda amusing to me. If I do a Nuzlocke, I'll be using the fire pig. And never evolving it, ever. Screw Emboar, I choose Tepig.

Steel type, focus on things that look like mechs. I've also created some new pokemon specifically for this region (just a few), two/three of whom are set to feature prominently in this Gym.

I assume that in the rematch the Leader uses a Golurk as a surprise.

Edit: I think Golurk might be my new second favorite pokemon. It is so badass.

Can't remember the name of it, it was the building next to the desert in Emerald where you could do all those double battles, those trainers could have shinies.

Yes, I did try to capture the opponent's Pokemon; yes, this was like my 8th year playing and I should have known better.

Battle Hill, I think. Battle Frontier (any of the facilities) I believe can also generate Shiny Pokemon. Especially Battle Pyramid, because there are "wild" Pokemon in there, but I think any facility can.

Note: Playing Emerald may result in extreme rage.

So I'm playing through the Battle Subway, trying to earn BP for those darn EV increasing items and...yeesh. This is rough. I have yet to make it to a Boss. I get through the first two "sets" of 7 just fine and then wind up getting pantsed pretty early into the third set.

I'm running through with Blitzle, Conkledurr w/ Drainpunch, and a Samurott or a Swoobat depending on who I randomly choose for that third slot.

I clearly do not understand this Battle Tower/Frontier/Subway whatnot well enough to succeed heh. Got me the Attk increasing item through stubborn persistence though, working on the Def. enhancing one.

I loled. I don't usually say 'lol', but I really did burst out laughing when I read that. It was not what I expected. From what you said, I figured that they were disqualified cause of some heinous hack, maybe they had some way to erase their opponent's games.

And then it was like nope, poop.

It really helps to understand Effort Values and Natures in detail. I believe there's a comment in the first post of this thread on what Effort Values are. If you want to succeed in Battle Tower, knowing your Effort Values is rather important. Using a team with some Effort Values and cruising through the Normal Subway, I can say this with fact.

I've got a decent understanding of EV training and IV breeding and whatnot. It's just sort of frustrating that the tools that make doing that easier are locked behind an activity that requires you EV train. Sort of counter intuitive. I'm sure I could do it if given more time, I'm a bit pressed currently due to having to play the part of a Rocket Grunt in a birthday party we're throwing soon, and I wanted this to be the best wobuffet ever >.> heh.

It's also a quality of the team that you have. My initial team of Conkeldurr, Reuniclus, and something else I don't even remember that I used to beat the game was good enough to at least grind through the first 2 stages twice, which was enough to get 2 IV breeding items. From there, I was able to breed a kick-ass Ferrothorn and a kick-ass Jellicent, and then I proceeded to crush the Normal Subway several times to collect the other IV breeding items.

It also helped that I already had perfect Dittos ready to begin my breeding operation, and that I had gone out and obtained a Ferroseed and a Frillish with the proper nature. These things are important, and fairly time consuming. But they're totally worthwhile.

Well, not much left to do, so I guess I'll fill out those random blank spots in my pokedex. Let's see, looks like I still need Remoraid's entry, so I guess I'll breed that. Okay, got the egg, good enough, I'll save and hatch it later. Might as well try to get something on Dream World.

Female Moody Remoraid wants to play!

I'm doing a HeartGold run, limiting myself to three Pokemon in-party at a time, not including HM slaves (four if three proves impossible). I'm currently at Bugsy's Gym, with a Quilava, a Butterfree, and a Zubat. Any tips on what Pokemon to switch at what points? If any evolutiions should be delayed, I want to know those too (I remember that Torchik learned Flamethrower if you didn't evolve it til level 40 (forgot that it had an Everstone)).
