Yes, this is pretty much how I feel. I wish there was a way I could deliberately state my gender as 'Other' rather than leaving the gender field blank, which (imo) means I could have any gender, I just don't feel like revealing it.

I think this forum is very accommodating and I do appreciate not having to pick a binary gender. It would just be that much more inclusive if nongendered/genderqueer people were recognized as an additional category of gender, as a few others have commented.

It is impossible to recognize every gender deviation, because we are as widespread and unique as we can be. It would be wonderful if we could all have representation of the genders we perceive ourselves to be, but its ridiculous to expect the forum staff to provide for all of our individual needs.

Would it be possible to have a text input box where we can write whatever we want for our gender? We have one of those already for "Location", don't we?

As a genderqueer with a clearly defined symbol, I think the issue is being pushed too hard. A mod has already commented on the subject.

I've always been the type to just climb to the top of the walls and go from there. If it's underground, I guess I'd have to do it your way.

Anyway, I can't remember if I posted (that night was pretty amusing; my counselor suggested I develop multiple personalities as a solution to some of my issues), but I had an interesting exchange with my mother a few days ago regarding my sexuality. I was talking about how I have decided that I don't get why people drink. I have to assume that I was drunk on New Year's Eve. I'm on sertraline, which I'm told can increase the effect of alcohol, and I drank four or five ounces of vodka. Anyway, I didn't enjoy it, and although it wasn't a bad experience, it's not something I would do for fun. And then I listed a couple of other things I don't get, like "attraction to women, or people in general for that matter", I think is close to how I phrased it. And she was pretty surprised, because she thinks I'm gynosexual ("straight") and thinks I at least used to like girls. Could be because I often hang out with girls, or because of that one girlfriend. So at least now she seems aware that I'm not currently interested in anybody (sexually or romantically), even if she still thinks I used to be.

The idea of the show does not bother so much as the fact that it just looks like a bad show in general.

While I *can't* imagine how offensive this is to women (both cis- and transwomen), I must say it offends my intelligence and me as cismale. Surely there must be a better way to tell stories about how the (current) recession affects working and middle class cismen.

Having "poor" people living in spacious villas was rather silly in the Donald Duck comics. In The Simpsons, it was at least lampshaded and explained by mortgages. But in modern day live action TV-series, supposedly made for adults? When the protagonists are not even having a job at all? For a year? WTH?

I know nothing whatsoever about this program, having literally never heard of it before, and I know I could google it, but I'm trying to piece it together from people complaining about it. I have yet to work out what about it is offensive, despite getting the message pretty clearly that it is, aside from unrealistic portrayals of what homes people can afford? Complain more about it so I can figure it out!

    One, that's a terrible premise.

Two, it does tie into something I've noticed. Women are far more likely to get hired in public relations situations (though there's still a male bias in so many other fields that complaining about reverse gender inequality is ridiculous).

Which leads to something I've noticed at my work specifically: almost everyone above the basic employee level is female. My workplace in particular is a matriarchy to the point that even a couple of the guys in managerial positions have vaginas. (True, still a terrible joke, apologies)

Which leads to another thing that happened at work the other day. I was able to call someone on transphobia (gently), and they backpedaled. Yay! Then we discussed gay celebrity crushes.

Oh my. I just read that review of Work It and watched the trailer. Even I didn't find even a single joke funny, and earlier today the only thing I laughed at out of a whole page of philosoraptors was this one. Please tell me the show was cancelled after the pilot? How did the pilot even happen? Who even thought this was a good idea? Can somebody please make me forget what I just saw?

Since somebody ruined my fun (), I suppose I'll go do that. And then probably complain about it myself!

@Golentan: What area do you work in? I mean, what field, not what place. Is it PR? Also, I'm not sure because I haven't looked into it, but there may also be more women applying for PR jobs because it's a high-powered job you can get a good career out of that's not "masculine". My sample of people I know who work in PR is too small to tell, though!
