This means that by combining slivers (which grant their powers to those around), tyranids (which get the powers of stuff they eat) and zerg (which direct their mutation on a spontaneous level to best fit the circumstances, I can start out with ten gaunts, have one mutate into a carnifex, one into a gargoyle, and one into a zoanthrope, and suddenly I have ten flying psychic tank-nids.

Actually based on the fluff I remember 'Nids and Zerg work the same way in terms of evolution: The Hive Mind decides what it needs and that's where it goes. Nids just eat things to harvest the biomass needed to make more Nids.

Why does she have toes?

Its how hats work in the My Little Pony universe. Look at what happens to Spike when he wears a hat. Instant transformation in personality. Bunny hat you can now hop and have toes. They are like the masks in Majora's Mask.

But Nids do it slower. If you have a squad of gaunts and you want a 'fex, you have to eat the gaunts.

What I mean is, the Zerg do the same as the Tyranids, but they mutate DURING the battle, while the Tyranids do so after.

I dunno, Wasn't Sliver queen the first 5 color card? That's gotta be either Rainbow Dash or, if you wanna be a little more abstract about a card that pulls together 5 otherwise unconnected elements to create something vastly more potent than the sum of its parts, the big crown thingy that is the centerpiece of the elements of harmony.

Also that "Clay is dirt cheap" pun drew a facehoof from me, so I consider us even for my link switching schenanagins that possibly exposed you to "Call Upon the Sea Ponies"

Ah; I drew mine independently of that picture. Only thing I'm not content with is the back of her mane. I used all seven colours on the frontside, and went for the reverse pattern on the back of the mane which I don't feel like it worked out as well.

Sliver Queen was the first legend, Sliver Overlord was the second. The Queen spat out piles of baby Slivers while the Overlord had the ability to cough them out of your deck. By name and fluff it would be better suited for Celestia to be the Queen, but by mechanics I like the Overlord better.
That and I don't own a Queen and by the gods is that thing expensive...

And in my defence I didn't realize I had made that pun until just now!

Actually I really like the Velvet blog. She's one of two or three OC's that I actually enjoy reading about. It probably helps that I really like Siansaar's style. I don't think it really gets flat-out NSFW, though it does sit right on the line a lot so opinions may vary.

Also I just finished forcing myself to watch all of Friendship is Witchcraft. I had started watching the first episode ages ago and got bored, so never bothered finishing it, but with everyone going on about how awesome the latest episode is I figured I could spare some time to watch them all and give it another shot. I really think the series has improved a lot, the last two episodes are brilliant. They do a great job writing songs for the thing too. Can't wait to see the next episode.

So, I finished my submission for today's ATG. And I don't hate it as much as I did for a while there. Oh the joys of making something that looks absolutely horrendous up until the point it's completely done. I swear I was tempted to stop working on it for the last hour or two just because it looked horrible, but now that it's done I'm mostly happy with it.

That building in the middle of the background absolutely refused to bend to my will, the left arm of the guy on the right could have gone a little better, and I really should have thought about the background colours before I decided to do Applejack because I couldn't figure out a good way to make her tail more visible. Other than that I'm really pleased with how this turned out, and am pretty sure I'm getting much better at cleaning unwanted stuff out of the background on these things.
