Cassidy slowly nods. "Does anything else need to happen now?"

"Yes. In the morning, I will let you into the armoury where a weapon will choose you. Then, I shall give you an Orb of Brotherhood, a magical sphere capable of changing size and enabling instantaneous telepathic communication between everybody holding an Orb to which that Orb is linked. That's me and Omid." Although Defelent's is also linked to Terrowin's, Elezibethele's, Azurelle's and Charynrae's, plus a similar variant enabling him to order the slaves whilst he's elsewhere.

"Okay. And thank you for believing in me, Defelent." Cassidy gives a small smile to her teacher.

"It was no trouble, don't worry. Anyway, I'm tired so I'm going to go to bed now. We had to stay up to make sure you were properly asleep when we went in, after all." Defelent smiles.

"I hear you. I was sleeping just fine, but then I woke up for some odd reason," Cassidy replies. "I'll go back to my room now.'

"Goodnight, sleep tight and the bed bugs won't bite." An invertebrate will have to be magically compelled to bite her now; no more mosquito, bedbug, gnat, headlouse or other invertebrate bites. No stings, either.

Defelent will also sleep. Until about nine in the morning, at which point he'll go looking for Cassidy.

Cassidy is in her bedroom after eating breakfast, sitting on her bed and meditating.

Cassidy can likely feel herself filling with divine energy as Dalachrech provides the first snippet of His power to be used as she feels fit. However, it's doubtful that she actually knows what to do with it, but her existing training as a magic-user may give her some ideas.

Defelent will wait for Cassidy to finish meditating.

Cassidy isn't even formally trained as a magic-user, she just goes by instinct. She does recognize the feeling of magic energy, though.

In a few minutes, she opens her eyes and sees Defelent. She smiles warmly. "Hello, Defelent. Glad to see you don't have three hooded helpers with you this morning.'

"I can go get them, if you want. But I'm here to give you this." He holds out a reddish, fist-sized glass sphere. "Your Orb of Brotherhood. Concentrate on it, and ask it to shrink and it will do so, remaining that size until you ask it to grow. There's limits, however; it can't get smaller than a marble and it can't go bigger than a head." I'd use ball sizes, but I'm not a sporty person and can't say for certain how large any ball is.

"Just you is fine," Cassidy says as she stands from the bed and steps forward to take the Orb. "Thank you very much, I'm sure I'll get a great use out of this."

You may be interested to know that some of the female clergy at other Temples have had custom jewellery made in which it can be stored close at hand without the risk of loosing it. However, it's perfectly fine in a pocket but may get lost or stolen if stored carelessly. Defelent sends that through his Orb without moving his lips. Also, the Orb transmits how Defelent thinks his voice sounds like, not what it actually sounds like. It's still recognisably his voice, just slightly different.

"That's pretty neat, Defelent," Cass says. "I'm not much for jewelry, though. I'll just keep it in a pocket."

Is it as neat as my voice? Defelent's been sending me the conversation. The jewellery is a good idea. I keep mine in a special belt buckle. Omid is not in the room.
"Anyway, let's go find the weapon that wants you." I'm not sure if Cassidy is aware of the enchanted weaponry. Regardless, Defelent will stand up and head down towards the armoury.

"Actually, it is, Omid. Hate to sting your pride," Cass says. She's got to figure out how to do that. "Lead the way," She says to Defelent while heading out of the room.

"He can't hear you. Try thinking through the Orb." It's easier than it sounds! I think.

"Um, okay." Cassidy looks at the orb in her hand. Am I doing this right? She's pretty much just thinking while holding the orb.

"Dalachrech told me where to find it. It was in a drow's treasure-chamber, taken from the body of Dalachrech's last drow cleric. It's an ancient relic of the faith." The sword is well-balanced, slightly enhanced to make it easier to wield though the main enchantment chills the blade to well below freezing temperature. The rapier's sheath has been dyed deep purple and has an ornate gold leaf pattern of centipedes upon it, and the basket hilt is embossed with a two-tailed scorpion. It was created by a cleric, not a wizard, if that helps or hinders One's ability. "A hydroponic garden? That may be a good idea. How much space will be needed, and how much light?" The Temple's not very well lit, after all.

Kail stays quiet, letting One and Two have their moment. After all, they're doing well, so she doesn't want to interrupt when they could get something they want.

Acanthops gurgles happily into the blood, even as he drinks it. Yum yum!

And I could've sworn I posted a response to this before now!

"I estimate that I could forge her sister sword over the course of a week with the proper materials, Reverend Mistress. The frost enchantment on this blade is incredible! I'll struggle to reproduce it, but if you're willing to experiment with a rare enchantment, I can promise you a thrusting point unlike any other."

One answers. I won't hint at what she'll create if she's allowed to enchant the blade with whatever magic she desires, but I will publicly state that I've never read of a sword in the Nexus that functions as it would.

"I could install a hydroponic garden in whatever space you have to spare, Reverend Mistress. Any space between the ceilings and the floors! One might have a light spell that could theoretically facilitate the growth of vegetation. What matters most are how many plants you'd like to store, consume, and distribute and the selected plant life!"

Two is excited! If everything that transpires does so according to her design, Charynrae might even authorize elevator automation one of these days!

"Could you duplicate the enchantment into another weapon?" If so, Charynrae has a new method of producing money. And as One's a slave, she doesn't need paying, and the hydroponic garden will provide the food she'll eat. Meaning that the enchanted weapons will be quite cheap.

Turning to Two, she smiles. "How much space do you need? I'll instruct the spiders to start construction of a new cocoon you can use for it. Light is a relatively easy miracle; I can do that easily." I'm not sure if the plants will need darkness as well, but if not then that's good.

Unfortunately, there's no available power source for an automated lift.

Turning to Omid and Kail. "I'm sorry; this must be boring you."

Almost. It's faint, though. Try meditating. Don't go all the way through it, but start the process and then send your thoughts. Defelent smiles though, and Cassidy is doing something right.

Cassidy nods and takes a few breaths, doing her best to try and shut out other sources of noise before trying again, focusing a bit more on the orb. How about now?

That's it. Well done. Omid sends an image of a smiling camel. I'm not sure why it was a camel; if one's distracted sending an image it can be very confusing.

"Reverend Omid meant to send a smiling face, probably. If you get distracted when sending an image, you can send the wrong image. I'm not sure why he's thinking of a camel, though." It's been an open conversation; everyone's been hearing everything sent by everyone else.

"Oh, okay. I just didn't know what that, uh, camel was." There's probably a lot of natural wild animals that Cassidy has never seen in her life.

"Camels prefer warmer temperatures than we have here. Or at least, Dromedary camels do. Bactrians prefer colder temperature." Bactrians are also resistant to radiation, as the last wild herd lives in a Chinese desert that was used for nuclear testing, and drink the only water available- from a lake saltier than the ocean. Bactrian camels are very hardy creatures.

"If the ghouls you mention are flesh-eating, near-mindless yet surprisingly cunning undead monsters, I'm familiar with those. Devil rats, however, I'm not familiar with." And he suspect they're something to do with the Blood War. 'Devil' in his mind means only the Baatezu, the eternal enemies of the Tanar'ri.

Ghouls eat flesh, yeah, but they're not really undead. Just people that caught a nasty disease. Devil rats are just huge rats." Undead creatures don't really exist where Cassidy's from.
