Not sure that's worth a full DLC, honestly, based on the preview there...

They got rid of levitation (and jump) I'm almost certain because of the difficult it created in making open dungeons. If you have either of those spells you can fly as you please which would really disrupt a lot of dungeon designs. Also it would force them to put the towns in the over world or do some sort of force field door.

But I really do hope they bring back enchanting and custom spells.

Skyrim's cities are hybrids between Morrowind and Oblivion, btw:
They are not, like in Morrowind, completely "open", but they are NOT completely cut off from the land around them. The game just don't render any details inside the walls (or outside the walls, if you are inside the city). This is easily observed in say Riften, where you often get dragons attacking inside the city from outside (you see them going back and forth over the wall, attacking something on the inside).

If you have a powerful enough computer there are mods that opens the cities up.

Eh both get dual wielding wrong. Dual wielding is not an offensive style but a defensive one and anyone trying to use two weapons to increase their offensive power in real life would be quickly cut down by someone using just one blade or a blade and a short sword/long knife/buckler for parrying.

Dual Wield as increased offense works, you just have to have other advantages. Like terrain, or skill.

Of course, most of what people don't remember is that having two fists means bare-handed IS dual wielding.

If the 2nd weapon makes for a defensive style why not just use a shield, it appears more defensive to me at least.

Oh yeah, it also encourages you to go old dual wield fencing styles (Dagger and Sword) since DPS matters.

The shield is heavier and larger so it can both slow you a little and make you tire faster. In addition to that two weapons let you parry to get the opponent to open up and then attack with the other weapon.

So basically two weapons are for a faster more evasive defensive style while a shield is for the slower more turtlish defense style.

Also it's easier to carry a sword and a parrying knife then lugging a shield everywhere you go.

I decided I'd start up a new character. A sneaky one, just like my last 3. To prevent this from getting boring, are there any good mods for sneaky characters? Content mods, stealth mods, maybe even illusion mods tailored to ninja type characters?

My last character was a vampire and I particularly enjoyed playing with the difficulties it presented, namely the "everyone attacks you on sight if you don't keep a good track of time." I heard Wars in Skyrim created a vampire faction that fights with a werewolf faction on the landscape, which sounded cool, but apparently Wars in Skyrim is hidden for now. Which is a bummer, because I wanted to take sides and fight in large battles. So I installed the Warzones: Civil War mod. Should be fun.

Oh, and she'll also be balls to the wall evil. Suggestions?

Any other mods to look for? I haven't used any of them, ever.

There is a thievery overhaul on the steam workshop which adds a couple of vaults for robbing to the cities along with more guards and more alternate routes and entrances to buildings.

There is also a mod that lets you enter and leave through windows and as for other mods I'll just quote an earlier post of mine:

Quote Originally Posted by pffh View Post

Enhanced High-level gameplay - This adds a lot of new enemies for higher levels so that the game doesn't become trivially easy after level 45.

Dragon Overhaul - This gives dragons more health, damage and more shouts to use (disarm, unrelenting force, that frost form one). This also makes them use their air superiority and prefer to strafe or perch on high objects rather then land in front of you like and idiot waiting to be smacked by an axe.

More dragons - Basically dragons spawn a little more frequently without spawning so often that you get swarmed by them.

Great Wyrms (and various other new dragon type mods) - Just adds a new dragon type after ancient that's more powerful.

Actually a deadly verbal debate - Each perk in the speech tree now reduces the cooldown on shouts by 5% and shouts level speech. This lets you use shouts more often in combat and thanks to the dragon mods that I have the long dragon fights are now also shouting matches.

Wilderness war parties - Adds random groups of bandits, undead and what not to the land and roads for you to fight.

Spend dragon souls for perks - This is one of the more balanced dragon souls to perks addon that I've seen and is really nice for high level characters that have dozens of extra souls after having unlocked all the shouts. I think it's 1 soul for a first tier perk, 2 for a second tier, 3 for a third etc and perks that have more then one rank each rank counts as one tier up so it quickly adds up.

Fall of the space core - SPAAAAAAAAAACE

Real wildlife skyrim - Several hundred new animals makes for a really alive world.

Legendary Creatures - 8 Legendary creatures that are a blast to fight.

Oblivious horses - Horses ignore and are ignored by enemies.

I also have a couple of mods that add a new quest or a dungeon but I've only tried one of them The Abysmal Depths and that at least is a fairly fun dungeon.

Mods that I'm about to try:

    Shenk Thievery overhaul
    Lestrange Vault
    Dynamic merchants
Legendary creatures is crazy fun but unfortunately it isn't compatible with real wildlife.

RE: Tyroc. First, "unintentional homage" strikes me as being an oxymoron -- contradiction in terms. Second, Tyroc is fairly obscure, and known mostly for the absurdity of his original costume and the politics behind his appearance in the comics.

Third, I'd find it easier to believe this were a homage if this were a game named for the kingdom of the Redguards than the kingdom of the renamed Norse.

Finally, this is not poTAYto vs poTAHto. This is poTAYto versus "Hey, aren't carrots also root vegetables?"

    =======================

I'd be more excited about this new DLC if there were any solid information about it. So far there's just an image of a a Nord with bad allergies and some talk of new animations in the files.

    =======================

So, my character is 73. I've capped out Destruction & Illusion, and I'm about to turn in the Destruction ritual quest. For some reason, the Illusion guy hasn't given me the Ritual quest yet (I've been >90 for a while now), but I haven't visited him since actually capping it. With Destruction capped, my last attack skill is Archery. I'm made a training bow for just that purpose. Block I can cap whenever I get around to it, so I'm not terribly worried about it.

I haven't used the Ohgma's Infinium yet. Speech & Lockpicking are both in the low 90's, and logic would dictate I should use it before either hits 96. Obviously, this means I need to get Sneak & Pickpocketing as high as possible before that happens. PP is the higher of the two right now, because I've been spending my 5-per-level trainings on it for the last several levels. Sneak is proving harder to raise that I'd expected, so I may have to switch to training it instead.

The "Civil War" chain is starting to appeal to me now that I've finished the main quest. I usually put Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood off to last anyway in these games. Given that I'm all-but-committed to a second 'cheater' character, I think what I'll do is go Empire on this character and Stormcloak on the 'cheater'. Why Empire? Because frankly Uhlric torqued me off during the cease-fire talks during the main quest. I caught myself wanting to fanfiction what my character *really* said, which is never a good sign.

Now in order to do that I need to trap a dragon, and in order to do THAT I need to assure that neither the Stormcloaks nor Empire can take advantage of the situation to threaten Whiterun. I need you two to cool it until the world is safe. If you walk away from this table, that peace puts your still-beating heart in my hand instead of your chest. Now either be a man and sit down, or be a corpse. Your call."

    • The main problem with the world? So many grownups, not enough adults.

The best way to train sneak is to let someone become suspicious (The eye opens partway) and then let it die down since staying hidden while someone is searching for you trains it faster then simply remaining undetected.

Also keep moving. Moving around enemies trains it faster then standing still close to them.

I admit that the first time I did that, I wanted to violently murder them both, but that's just me.

The fastest way by far to raise sneak, is to sneak attack everyone and everything. Sneak Attacks push it up quicker than just sneaking around.

Combine it with ranged sneak attacks to train sneak and archery together. Sneak Attacks also don't care if the target is an enemy, so you can shoot deer for both sneak and archery training.

I wish they'd let spells allow sneak attacks as well.

P.S- Is Elderscrolls only WRPG game with a black race (Before skyrim game)? Inspired by this.

I know NWN had a whole variety of character skin options, although it's not until NWN2 that they had a explicitly stated black race (drow).

Googling a bit, Everquest had dark elves which fit the bill.

I think some earlier games RPGs had character skin colour options, but no dark skinned race as an in-game fluff option.

Black people as in African (Drow or Dark Elves don't count as "Black race" since their skin is Ash Black, plus they're elves).
Not to be racist towards dark elves, of course.

I think you're going to have to be a bit clearer in what what you're looking for.

    Are you only accepting humans?

Are you after fluff only or actually mechanistically different races?

What skin tone will you accept, as I've seen 'ash black' africans before.
