I was assuming it would still grant the natural powers of the King/Queen position, and the prototyping transformations are largely to help said King/Queen scale appropriately to still be a challenging end-boss for the player group they had to face. Now, an unprototyped King would be a walkover for players who had actually played the game, climbed their echeladders, and had sweet alchemized gear. But for ones just starting the game, or even worse (like Dirk) are merely aware of the game and haven't even begun playing properly yet? It's still a completely unwinnable fight. Especially when one side is blatantly cheating and pulling out the world-destroying powers far before they would normally be scheduled to.

I read an awesome theory on the invisibility thing. The ring modifies the appearance of carapacian based on what was prototyped. Prototype a cat and a tentacle doll, become cats w/ tentacles, prototype a dog, get a dog's head etc.

Prototype Nothing, and gain the appearance of.... nothing. In other words, invisibility.

Red Miles is probably the Black Queen's finisher for when Derse wins. Does make me wonder if Prospit has an equivalent.

Edit: Also, the invisibility would be how the White Queen snuck up on Jack.

That was just the battlefield evolving from the fourth prototyping. The queen's ring got all glowy because it is also affected by prototypings, but it didn't cause the change to the battlefield.

I guess the difference between him and Dave is that Dave never felt like he was being genuine about being the best. That he was just doing it to be cool. He also made mistakes and acted like a goofball.
