[Nexus] The Black Dragon's Den IX

[Eadin]

"Help.."
Is all the girl says in reply.
She seems to have lost (and is losing) quite a bit of blood. Her pulse is weak, barely there. Some haste is probably required.

She just keeps howling in pain, her hood sliding off.
She appears to have long and dark brown hair, clinging together with blood coming from the wound on her temple.
Her face is also covered in tattoo's, showing some sort of plant or tree, it's hard too see with the blood and grime. Her eyes glow a bright gold, full of tears.

[Gullara]

Valente sets his drink down. Dammit, he can't just sit here when she jneeded help. He moves quickly over to the two reluctantly. "How can I help?" His eyes widen as he sees the knife.

[Reinholdt]

She's probably in shock too. Reinholdt's not sure he can help at this point.

But it's becoming clear that there's really no time to wait for better assistance. He glances up at Valente. "Get ready to apply some pressure... here to stop the bleeding." Reinholdt says, indicating to Valente where he wants him.

Reinholdt goes to grip the knife handle. "On the count of three. One..." And Reinholdt pulls on one, going to try and slide it out of the wound carefully.

[Eadin]

A howl escapes from the girl as the slide the knife out.
She starts trashing, in great pain and scared.

The knife slides out without problems. Blood painting the engravings in the blade red. They're mostly symbols, hard to see what at this moment.

[Rebonack]

"On the count of move," comes a command from one of the few people in the tavern who's actually equipped in some way to tend to a horrifically wounded person. Zee finally managed to flail the dead-time away and she's heading straight toward the stabbed girl, one hand already blazing with a plume of almost organic looking opalescent white power.

As soon as the dagger is free of the girl Zee will aim to place the glowing hand on the mauled person.

The Eldritch power of K'rax-Naggath should, unless something rather odd happens, powerfully accelerate and direct the girl's own natural healing until the wound is erased. There will be a scar left behind where she was stabbed, though. This isn't divine healing after all.

Seems Kara is forgotten. At least for a moment. If she wanted to slip away now would be the time to do it.

[Gullara]

Valente is about to apply pressure as instructed. That is until a glowing hand is thrust there first. The vampire blinks in surprise and edges away a bit. It's probably for the best that he never had to do that.

[Reinholdt]

"Ok while you hold her still I'll clean and stit..."

Oh.
Glowing hand.

Ummm...
Well let's see if it works first he supposes.

[Eadin]

So many things and people at once.
The girl is screaming as the blade is pulled out. But then there's the hand.
The girl's face relaxes and she lays down her head and stops trashing.

Zee's power seems to have healed the girl's wound completely.
She won't mind about the scar.
'' Thank you.''

[Rebonack]

Whether it be miracles, magic, science, or something else completely having someone around who can heal wounds quickly is always nice to have! Especially in a place like the Nexus where people get violenced at so often.

"You're welcome!" Zee beams back in her usual ever-chipper fashion. "I don't suppose you would mind telling us why you had a dagger in your torso? That's a really bad place to keep daggers."

It's true!

Most people keep them in pockets.

Or boots.

Or sheaths.

But not torsos. Torsos are a terrible place to keep daggers.

[Gullara]

Valente gets to his feet and shuffles awkwardly. Well, looks like he's not needed here anymore. He'll hover for a bit though. At least with the flow of blood stopped it's a bit easier to tolerate. He's still very tense, though.

[Reinholdt]

Reinholdt frowns and takes a cloth to clean the dagger and examine it in closer detail.

[Artemis97]

Raril walks out of his office, looking a bit confused. Deadtime had taken hold of him and the world had moved on. Even after all these years, he still wasn't used to it.

"What'd I miss?" He mumbles, stretching.

[Reinholdt]

"Well I came here to go over those explosives with you, but Zee is somehow alive and this person came and bled all over your floor."
...
That blood is looking awfully appetizing now that Rein's not preoccupied with helping.

"Zee fixed them though."

[Rebonack]

"Alive is always a really fiddly term with me," Zee points out as she pulls up a chair next to the dead-timed former-inured woman and takes a seat. "But I am back on the material plane and that's great!"

Yay!

Greatness!

"And she had been stabbed. Really fancy sort of dagger. Not the sort you would expect someone to leave in someone else."

It's true!

The dagger is very fancy.

And in fact Rein is holding it right now!

Hopefully not licking it. That would be gross.

[Artemis97]

Raril frowns. He could think of one reason to leave a fancy dagger inside someone. Nervously, the drow scratched at the scar on the side of his head.

"It's good you helped her."

[Reinholdt]

"Yeah..."
Certainly.

"Oh and he helped too. Sorry, didn't catch your name." Reinholdt says, looking to Valente.

[Gullara]

Valente is looking rather intently at the prone woman when Reinholdt addresses him. The scrawny, teenage vampire demon snaps out of it and looks up. "Oh, Valente Ricci." He replies.

[Eadin]

When the girl wakes up from her deadtime she looks a bit scared, suddenly seeing how many people there are around her.
Vampires and well.. she has no clue what Zee is...
But she's so nice to her! And the people seem more worried about her and they saved her. So she tries her best to sit up, still sore and flashes them a smile.

"Thank you all for helping me.." And she sees Reinholdt holding the dagger.
The symbols seem to be some sort of runes.
"It's a ritual dagger... It's used to sacrifice people like me.."
She looks at the ground for a moment. "We live in a pack and hunt animals like everyone else.. We don't harm anyone.."
She swallows and looks up.
"They caught me, while I was picking herbs with other girls. They have some kind of tale that says our blood will give them strength and health.
No idea if it's true, why it would be true."
She points at the dagger. "They use that dagger, the runes make sure we can't morph back and escape. They were supposed to cut out my heart, but they apparetly underestimated me. They stabbed me as I fled. They probably think I died from blood loss in the woods.. I didn't even know there was a city here.."
She pulls her cloak around her, ashamed of her torn dress.

[Reinholdt]

Rein just gives Valente a head nod when the girl starts speaking again.

"They. Who are they?"
Blood that gives strength and health, huh?
Hmmm...

"Though maybe a better question is who are you?" He asks as he slides the knife into his belt and stands up properly, offering his hand to help her up as well so she can get to a chair.

[Eadin]

The girl doesn't seem to notice him putting the knife away.
"The Wynono. The humans. They don't see us as their brothers. They think we are wild animals."
She accepts the hand and slowly stands up. She lets him lead her to a chair before she answers his question.
I am Magena. Second born of Sakima."
She pauses a bit, and realises she should probably explain.
"My father is the chief of our pack, the alpha. We live in packs of around 30, but there are multiple packs. We're nomands, we travel around a lot.

[Rebonack]

"Sound like jerks," Zee concludes, nodding her head sagely.

Much sagely nodding!

It isn't unusual for mortals to treat other mortals with contempt if they're sufficiently different from themselves. Silly shortsighted mortals...

"There's a chance we can get you back home," Zee offers. "But depending on how fickle the Nexus feels like being it might be hard."

Very very hard.

Stupid fickle Nexus.

"I mean..." Zee adds after a moment's pause. "That's assuming you even want to get home?"

[Reinholdt]

"I don't think that's one of the problems here Zee." It sounds like a Nexus originated issue. But that is just a guess. She could be from another wild dimension.

"Nice to meet you Magena. I'm Reinholdt, that's Zee, Valente, and Raril." Reinholdt points out each in turn.

"So you're a shapeshifter then?"

[Artemis97]

The drow gives a wave when Reinholdt introduces him. "My sympathies. I know what it is to be on the end of a knife." Again, raril reaches to scratch the side of his head, but he stops himself, conscious of the movement this time. "Who are the humans who attacked you? Where might we find them?"

[Eadin]

"I.. don't know. I just know I'm a long way from home. I ran for two moons, I believe.." She says, trying to recall what happened after she ran.
"I didn't know there was a city here. I just ran and ran and suddenly I was at the gate. Maybe Father Wolf gave me Hare's speed, brought me here so people would help me." There's no otherworldly feel to her, she's probably from some remote corner of the Nexus.

"It's nice to meet you all, though the circumstances could have been better.."
And then the shapeshifter question.
"We are the children of the wolf spirit, one of the spirits that guard the forest we live in. He has given us the gift to take his form, the elders say the humans hunt us out of jealousy." A pause. "So I guess I could be called a shape shifter."
She gives Raril a smile as he waves. "I don't know, I suspect they are professional hunters. These daggers are not easy to find and even fewer know what they're for."

[Reinholdt]

"Jealousy makes sense to me."
Reinholdt admits, getting some water out and offering it to Magena.

"Personally prefer cats myself, but not like you were born with a choice. Are the tattoos you've got from your tribe?"

[Eadin]

"It's a thing we inherit from our father."
She gratefully accepts the water, finishing it quite quickly.
Must have been thirsty.

" Oh, yes. It's something we get when we come of age. Shows our place in the pack and our talents. I was training to be a healer, most of the symbols represent plants we use for healing."

[Reinholdt]

"I see. Well you should probably get something to eat and some rest before doing anything else." Reinholdt suggests. He'll even order something for her if she indicates a desire for food. With Raril right there, it'll probably even be nice and unpoisoned!

[Eadin]

"Food sounds nice..." She says.
"I don't have any money, though.."

[Gullara]

Welp, Valente is still standing there and being agitated. He closes his eyes for a moment and composes himself. No, eating this person is a terrible idea. <.<

[Artemis97]

Raril grins. "You're in luck. I happen to own a bar and restaurant and... oh look! We're already in it." He waves over Hooknose, one of the goblin waiters. "Order whatever you like."

"You said you can turn into a wolf?" The drow asks, dropping into a nearby chair. "Because I think we may have something in common." Raril was, in fact, a werewolf.
