From what you can tell they are trigger or wards runes.

I look for an alcove for clan Redskin. Also, if the place is very dusty or has a lot of cobwebs, look for passages that have been recently disturbed.

Some passages haven't been touched in what could be decades or centuries, particularly those with elvish names. Some are well maintained while others have small rocks on the floors, presumably from the ceiling or floors. Clan Redskins tunnel is well kept, but a layer of undisturbed dust is on the floor. You start hearing men's voices behind you at what could be the entrance.

You start to see torchlight. Then a gruff male voice says
Any luck on those runes yet?"
A female voice replies All I can figure out is they are trigger wards. If certain conditions are or are not met they will activate and the crypt will somehow try to harm or kill us. Given the situation we will have plenty of undead and maybe other types of guardians all over us."
    "Can you disarm them?"
"Not without at least a weeks research and some luck."
Well then we will probably be fighting undead soon then. Good thing they sent us with an excellent cleric and wizard.
I am not getting paid enough to face much less fight undead.
If we don't make it out of here alive you get paid nothing.
Corporal. Tracks! I think we have company.

*The way to the Redskin Clan part of the crypt has taken you through some twists and turns, so you can't see the entrance. From the side passage you are in you can see the Redskin Passage entrance.
If they don't get in our way then we won't bother with them, unless any of you recognizes them and they have a price on their heads.
Well there is the Redskin passageway and their tracks go off to this other passage.
Stay here and give a shout if they are unfriendly. The rest of you with me.
    Yes sir.
They go down the Redskin passage.

From what you have been able to see each clan passage has only one entrance, the crypt itself also has only one entrance.
The man you saw who was told to keep a lookout passes in front of your vision, but doesn't notice you. You see a symbol on the sleeve of his left arm of a crossed sword and sickle. You remember seeing this on a lodge for some mercenary group back in Saint Marcus.

Angus sheathes his sword quietly, then strides confidently down the tunnel towards the exit, nodding to the man standing guard.

When I get outside the crypt, I'll look around for anyone else that might be part of their group standing watch.

When he sees you the human standing guard tenses for a moment and then nods back.
You get outside and some time has passed, as the moon has almost set. There is no one standing guard.
You start to feel tired from staying up this late when a ringing jars you fully awake, followed by the sounds of swords clanging and combat. The ebony skeleton statues come to attention with a gleam in their eyes, but make no move to attack you.

Get the tanglefoot bag out, and prepare to throw it at the first bandit to come out the entrance. Draw my sword and hold it in one hand, with the bag in the other.

You wait for a time as the sounds of combat continue to move towards the entrance. A group of 6 males and one female emerge, all of them showing wounds of some sort. You recognize the one who you nodded to earlier. You hear the same female voice say Wards triggered some sort of massive undead spell when we took the staff. More research would be... Just then the ebony skeleton statues attack.

You manage to take out the skeleton and stun 2 of the remaining group members, the corporal and one other. You hear a cry of "I surrender" and one of the non stunned ones throws down his sword.

The corporal, who has recovered from the stunning says We take the surrender option. Lower your weapons. I do object to the "Grave Robber" comment. We were here to do a job, it isn't worth getting killed.

They reluctantly set their weapons on the ground. One of them gives you a staff. That is the only thing we took. As far as arresting us, by what authority? Blackmoore crypt is shared among the clans who have relatives entombed there. All incidents there are dependent on the current clan heads decision on whether to prosecute or not.

As far as arresting us, by what authority? Blackmoore crypt is shared among the clans who have relatives entombed there. All incidents there are dependent on the current clan heads decision on whether to prosecute or not. Jurisdiction belongs to the wronged clan. Greendale is the home of clan Redskin. My only request is we be allowed to bring our two dead party members with us.
Greendale is about 10 miles from Saint Marcus and will take you about as long to get there as it did to get here.
