Re: Tools of Chaos
You definitely don't find the trail. With a roll like that you are lucky to have found the right forest. You do find a trail, but soon you realize that you are not on the trail you followed previously.

Does that account for my reroll?

Re: Tools of Chaos
No, with your reroll you manage to find the trail again and then the clearing, tree with the dagger in it, etc.

Re: Tools of Chaos
It takes you some time to cut down the tree, but it is a good workout. The tree falls and since you are no woodsman you fail to get the tree to fall nice and easy, but with a little effort you are able to retrieve the dagger. Now it is time for ale and butterscotch pudding.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Go meet Rothgar in town and see if he's interested in drinks. Ask if I can use his forge for a small project.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Rothgar is interested in drinks, especially as he isn't feeling so well right now. He is fine with you using the forge if you help out with some small things around the shop too.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Buy him a few rounds of drinks and swap stories. In the morning, or whenever we come back to his forge, do any chores he needs and start making a near copy of the dagger. It should have the same for and appearance, but since I don't know what enchantments are there, just put a detect poison spell on it. That will make it magical, and it might even point in a direction for Valgris to chase after, but it won't work the the same as the original dagger.

Re: Tools of Chaos
It takes you a couple days and some help from Rothgar but you eventually get a close copy made. Rothgar continues to deteriorate and by the third day is noticeably ill.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Nay lad. I am dying. weird curse from my adventuring days finally catching up with me. I am a lot older than I look. I do want you to do a couple things for me. My grandson has fallen in with a group of rebels in the mountains. Give him this letter telling him the shop is his. Also, tell Alora that the automaton under the shop is Elrays now. Never can seem to find the guy.He must show up in person though.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Of course, my friend. Would you like me to stay here with you, or set off at once?

Set off at once. I would like to have the chance to see my grandson before I die.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Which mountains? Do you know what they call themselves? What is your grandson's name?

Re: Tools of Chaos
The Wherdahekarwe mountains. The river flows down to the base of them and another joins it. You are then in another kingdom, but it is rebel held territory. They call themselves the True-Sons. His name is Beothar.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Of course my friend. I'll leave at once.
First stop at Alora's to give her the message that Rothgar wishes to give Elray the automaton, but that he must arrive in person to see Rothgar to collect it. Then, barring any revelations about Elray being long gone, head for the Wherdahekarwe mountains.Originally Posted by The Giant

Re: Tools of Chaos
Alora says that she will relay the message. You start out and get about a quarter of the way before night falls. You come to a small town on the water that has several shops, a couple inns and a small dock.

Re: Tools of Chaos
Go to the largest inn, get some ale, and ask if anyone is interested in arm wrestling.

Re: Tools of Chaos
As you walk into the largest in the atmosphere is quiet, even dull. Most of the people in it have a look of boredom and most are well built. At the mention of arm wrestling there is definite interest and a tournament is quickly set up. There are rules here, most of all, no spells or magic items may be used or worn. There is a five minute recovery window between bouts. Five others are in with you, 3 human men 1 dwarf man and a half orc female.
You are up first against one of the humans. Make a strength check for your first bout. (1d20+3)[11]

Re: Tools of Chaos
The third human participating wins his bout with the human opposite him. The dwarf doesn't do so hot against the orc and despite his veins popping out of his neck she puts him down easily. As the challenger you now have to arm wrestle the human. Winner of this one arm wrestles the orc. The rest of the inns patrons are enjoying the show.

Despite your awesome effort you lose. You do see a strange tattoo on the back of her hand as she slams yours into the table.

Congratulate the winner. "I don't think I've ever had my armed wrenched that vigorously. My name is Angus" Offer my hand to shake.

Re: Tools of Chaos
May I inquire about your tattoo? It is rather unique, I must say.
