Aaaagh, no! Everyone is going to be full of war and hate and distrust now, and he hasn't a thing planned for it!

Magtok tries his hardest not to look absolutely horrified and terrified and confused and stupidly lost. It doesn't work out very well. Instead, he just sorta mouths the word Tomorrow?! at Vas and Delisle before reluctantly hurrying along after Ms. Xar'Cha.

Surgical Bay 1

Bugs and the aides barely hear what the Bearer says, but they understand the meaning of it perfectly. The Head Doctor gives a nod and injects her with a mild sedative before doing the same with the inhibitor. They'll monitor her body to make sure it works before attempting the removal surgery.

If they're able to begin, one of the other aides begins to unpack cybernetic replacements for the destroyed organs while calling one of the clerics in. If the replacements don't work, they'll attempt to magically repair the damage, but in their minds, it has a lesser degree of success due to the nature of what caused the damage in the first place.

It's convenient, that the primary issue within Feia's body is fairly simple.
Simple is effective in this case, and mostly did its job.
Simple, however, also means that it can be easily corrected, on the off chance it is uncovered.

It's also wise to go the cybernetic route, as opposed to a more magical one.
Much more documented effects than what arcane energies could do in this situation.

This won't be a pretty operation, by any means. Much was damaged and will need to be replaced, but care can ensure its success.
The doctors can put another delayed death on their list.


And then there is the egg.
Tucked away within her body, the many strange veins growing out from its shell into the woman's casts a strangely malicious aura on it.
Upon severing all of these and upon extraction, however, it will simply be an egg. An egg of an oddly oily purple hue the size of a typical curled infant, but nothing more.

Such a simple little threat.

[A telephone wherever Remnant takes calls from cranky citizens who think they've witnessed a crime.]

The phone is ringing. If they've got caller Id, it will show a local number that has called here a few times before. Should someone pick it up, they'll hear a voice that is probably becoming familiar in an annoying way.

It is the husky-voiced nosy neighbor woman who has called a few times before. Usually she's just spouting off about some neighbor kids disturbing the peace with a late-night party. Sadly, the last time she called there had actually been a murder. Probably best not to ignore whatever she's got to say.

"You might wanna get someone down to Limit Street again." She'll say if anyone picks up.

((Anyone feel free to throw your Remnant character at this. It will hopefully lead to a merry chase through Inside. It is related to Jessica's murder, and the 'Reclaimer' dude who just showed up. Disclaimer: My posts will be patchy since I'm still sick and working and going to school and... *sigh*))

The Remnant reciever sighs. If this turns out to be another pointless goose chase from this old bag, they might want to slap her with a fine for wasting precious time. Still, a part of the Fast Response Team is sent that way...

Jyarl chuckles and shakes his head. "No, they aren't for tossing. What do you want to eat?" He asks as he sets her down.

Dizzy just smiles at the show and pours the drinks quickly, passing them out to their owners with a bit of a flourish, spinning the bottles and glasses in her hands.

Meeting Room

Vasquez pulls her offered hand back and simply gets back to her seat, ignoring the pair of AMENites by starting on paperwork. Ilpholin had seemed to miss the entire point of the conversation, but she wasn't going to spell it out for her.

The pair won't be escorted out unless absolutely necessary, and are free to go.

Interview Room

"Well, it's an armored vehicle that fires a massive gun. We could rig something up for you. You'd likely be more capable than a normal tank as well. Does that sound somewhat appealing?"

Edijar's Place

Edijar gives her a chuckle and carries her to the shower just to do that. About an hour later, when he and Charity are finished with the shower and other things, he holds her close to himself on the couch. Smiling gently at her, he gives her another soft kiss.

Surgery Bay 1

The egg will be placed in an incubator set to the temperature that she had requested for her cell, and it's likely several hours later when the group finally finishes putting in the cybernetics. Once the surgery is complete, the Bearer will be taken to a recovery room to sleep it off. When she wakes, she'll find the incubator next to her and Bugs seated across the room, monitoring her equipment.

Holding Cell

"Is there anything you want to eat or drink?" Vasquez asks, trying to make Elaine comfortable and welcome. "And don't worry, you two aren't in any real trouble."

"It doesn't sound bad. After all I get to work for the local authority."

Tovpir seems to be happy about that result.

"Will this 'making me tank' think include changes? Like you have to prepare my skin?"

A few of his race who where used as mount got a saddle carved into there stone body, that way they have less weight to carry.

Meeting Room -> Outside

Vasquez missed everything Ilph had to say in preference of sidestepping and ignoring any examination of which option would be best for Inside, culminating in the deference of the responsibility to a group whose vested interest in Inside is minimal at best. Makes Ilpholin wonder how Vas got her job in the first place. Certainly not for her people skills.

Ah well, no matter. For Ilpholin's purposes, things were going swimmingly and she really couldn't have asked for a better result. The drow happily exits of her own accord, smiling and nodding to anyone they meet as they leave.

"So Magtok, back to the Cave or the Volcano?" Where I'm sure Mag has much to say about the matter. Perhaps.

"Food?" Jefferies suggests.

She's not used to having choices about what to eat.

The goblins recieve their drinks and raise their glasses, but they look suspiciously behind them. Orcs expressing intent to toss them aren't good news, even if said orcs are little girl orcs. Mind you, a little girl of any species isn't an expected sight.
Didn't know we had children in the base, Grimzig comments to Dizzy.

"An' that creepy woman with the demon-wings is with 'em. She was here last night too. Then this morning that nice Jessica girl was found dead. I heard from a reliable source your people found black feathers Jessica had pulled out while fighting for her life. It was that woman that killed her I tell ya!"

There is a slight pause in the raspy voice's tirade.

"I see your people coming now. You get that demon-woman. An' you know that dark elf can't be up to no good either. Bunch of freaks breaking down doors to crime scenes. Hrmph."

Then the crabby woman hangs up the receiver with a loud 'clang!'

[Lord Magtok]

Meeting Room -> Outside

"So Magtok, back to the Cave or the Volcano?" Where I'm sure Mag has much to say about the matter. Perhaps.

The cyborg shakes his head. Nooooo way are they going back to his place, given the chaotic state it's in. Throwing Ilpholin in would just make things even nuttier, and we can't have that.

"The Valcano. Also, if you could maybe explain everything that just happened on the way back..."

Magtok really has no idea what they accomplished or why.

"I'll see what I can do." Ilpholin says as they move to Outside.

[Recovery Room?]

Waking up from surgery is always such an unpleasant process.
You're either drugged or uncomfortable to varying degrees.

But most of the time, you were expecting to wake up in the first place.
It's a little different, when the mere sensation of opening one's eyes is an enjoyable surprise.
Shines a slightly different light on the other unpleasant feelings.
Just more ways of confirming that Death has passed you by.


After a few moments, she'll take a rough glance around the room, to note the incubator and Bugs.
That was polite of them, to keep the egg nearby. Guess that means they don't plan on claiming it for themselves, or studying it?
Or maybe they have already, or are planning to ask first.

Feia closes her eyes again and makes a little sigh.
"Silly humans."

Interview Room

"No, I don't think we'll have to change you as we can easily modify some of our equipment." Aliz explains.

Edijar's Place

"Because you're obviously the most wonderful woman I've ever met." Edijar tells her with a smile. After another kiss, he gets up and stretches his worn body. "What would you like for dinner? Anything you want. We'll talk after, promise."

Rec Center

"There area few kids, but not many." Dizzy admits as she tosses a few steaks onto the indoor grill. "That one's Jyarl's. He took her in yesterday." As she explains, Jyarl grabs a large jug of milk from the fridge and pours out a couple glasses. One for him and one for Jefferies.

Holding Cell

Vasquez makes the call for tea before turning back. "If you agree to stay on base, we can give you some more comfortable housing, but if you don't, well, I'm sorry. We'd have no choice but to keep you in the cell because of Billie."

Meeting Room

It seems a lot of misunderstanding has happened all around.

Vasquez can't help but smile a bit after Ilpholin leaves. "I'll explain more later, but we won't have anything to worry about tomorrow. Part of the Council's role in things is to draw political and public fire away from us, but it's also to make sure no one could really rule Inside themselves unless they really deserve it. With so many people with agendas so different, there's almost no way to get a majority vote with something like Ilpholin becoming Ruler. She may have Magtok, but Dipsnig would never agree because of him, and the other Orgs have no reason to trust her."

Standing, Vasquez picks up her papers. "Besides, think the public would ever agree to such a thing?" She asks with a slight smile. While it'd be easy for Vasquez to learn of Ilpholin and her past, the same couldn't be said of the public. All they'd know is that an AMENite was granted power to be their Steward of sorts. "Bureaucracy is a beautiful weapon sometimes, isn't it?"

Surgical Bay

The egg would have been put under a lot of medical and other scientific scans of course. Magic would have been left out due to them not wanting to cause a reaction of course, but a cleric and mage would have at least looked it over. Most of the scans would have been to try and tell the power, design and purpose of the egg.

"Just fry up the leftovers from last night. That's fine with me," Charity says, remaining curled up on the couch while she watches him head towards the kitchen.

"I don't trust her," Delisle says. "Do you need me to do anything to prepare for the meeting?"

Iamar smiles at Jefferies's protests, and takes a slow sip of her tea. Rather than try to socialize with anyone, she finds a table where she can sit on her own.

The scorpion nods.

"Are you able to tell me how it effects my movement?"

Of course you are, Grimzig says. Without sarcasm, even. He's surprisingly good with kids.
Besides, orcs are tough as nails at all ages, the third goblin, Kulbig, adds.
The ones back home are supposedly our distant relatives. Wouldn't know by looking at us, Niltak chimes in.

The winged man merely nods in reply to Eileen's comment. He clearly agrees that one's weapons are one's life.

He will follow her inside quietly. Everyone he sees will be met with a sharp, critical gaze that is made slightly creepy by the oil-like swirls in his black eyes.

"You will want to see these." he still has the leather-wrapped documents folder with him and he holds it out to Eileen.

Eileen accepts the papers, and starts flipping through them with interest after opening the folder.

Eileen will find the papers are all in order and fixed with official seals.

The first establishes Reclaimer's identity as an agent of the Celestial Council whose official duty is to find and bring to justice traitors to the Council and Celestial Society, murderers, and others found guilty by the Celestial Court of crimes deserving, "The Reclamation of The Perpetrator's Wings to the Council," whatever that means.

The next pages are an official warrant for the arrest of one Winguardia, formerly titled Harbinger. The warrant describes her crimes in detail starting with high treason, then multiple counts of murder and assorted lesser crimes against both Celestial Society and "The Human World". A detailed description of Winguardia follows including reference to three other sets of papers. It bears the signatures of the judges that presided at the trial and the Council's High Chancellor.

The following three sets of papers are those referenced in the warrant. One includes finger and palm prints of the winged woman known as Winguardia and another has her photo. The next pages include copies of warrants issued for the arrest of a winged woman by various human governments.

The remainder of the file includes a warrant for one other Celestial, that is of little interest as there is no evidence that this individual is in the Nexus, and notes on the one known as Winguardia. Only one line among those notes stands out particularly. It is underlined and circled repeatedly. "The Celestial known as Harbinger has skills equivalent to a first-echelon blademaster," the page reads.

While Eileen looks at all this, Reclaimer sits silently in a chair across from her.

[Front Gates]

An extremely thin - though not quite as bad as she used to be; she only looks around a quarter starved now, rather than half - Tiefling, dressed in leather armor, with a pair of long, thin, knives on her hips, approaches the gate, looking rather nervous.

Jyarl smiles down at the orc and hands her the milk before scooping her up and putting her on a barstool next to the goblins as they await their steaks. "No worries, we'll get training soon, and then you can really show them." He promises.

After a few moments, Iamar might see one of the women playing pool approach. Anna is a curly haired brunette wearing glasses as well as her Remnant Uniform. The lightning bolt patch on her shoulder designates her as a combat mage. "New here? No worries, you'll get used to it all."

Front Gate

The newcomer will be met by a pair of guards at the closed gate. "Is there anything we can help you with?" The woman of the pair asks. While they're the only two at the gate itself, other guards are in watchtowers behind the walls, and others are on the walls themselves.

Edijar's Place

Edijar does as asked and fries up the potatoes into potato cakes before serving them hot with a couple beers at the couch. He leans over to kiss Charity before looking her in the eyes, smiling gently. "I...those papers..." He pauses for a moment to collect his thoughts. "I'm considering retirement. Those papers are the information packets about the stuff I'd get and the terms."

Meeting Room w/ Vas

"If possible, try to dig up some generic dirt on Ilpholin. Maybe contact Zefir to do so if he's still in AMEN. While she may claim to have Inside's best at heart, I sincerely doubt she does. We'll need something to hold over her." Vasquez says with a sigh. "I know you probably don't want to do it, so call Caet and see if he can pull up anything generic about her. Should have offered her coffee or something so we could get a sample, but hindsight is 20/20. I know it's nearly impossible for her to get elected "Head of Inside", but I want to be safe."

"Grrr..." Jefferies growls in agreement, before downing her milk in several continuous gulps and giving herself a milk mustache.

Edijar's Place

Charity stares at Edijar in speechless shock. That was not at all what she expected.

Meeting Room

"I'll see what I can do," Delisle says.

After a moment, he leans back and sighs, looking at the beer in his hands. "I...I admit, I sorta don't want to, but with everything that's happened...I should. I need to do this." He tells her before reaching out to take her hand and giving it a squeeze. "I don't want to...to..." he stammers, the thought of being confined to a hospital and eating through a tube going through his mind. "I don't want to lose you. One way or another."

Meeting Room

"Thanks, Alice. After that, go home and get some rest. We all could use it."

Iamar looks up at Anna. Despite her being in a relaxed place, her face is still a little shrouded by her hood. She doesn't ever seem to remove it. "Thank you for the reassurance," she says while smiling a little. "Things are just a little different from my last job."

"You can't lose me," Charity says. "What would you do, if you weren't here?"

Interview Room

"I can't say right off the bat, since we'll need to custom build something for you. I imagine the most complicated thing will be a "manual" control." The mage says as he begins writing down ideas. "That said, if you're willing to join Remnant, even after all I've said. Say so after I turn on the recording." Looking up for a moment, he flips a switch on the table.

Rec Center

"Oh? And what was the last gig you had?" Anna asks, sipping at her whiskey.

When Dizzy serves Jefferies and Jyarl their steaks, Jyarl's is medium rare, and he can't help but dig ravenously into it.

Edijar's Place

The soldier sighs and shakes his head a bit. "I don't know. I've never done anything but fight. I think I'd like to stay here, and at least teach. So recruits can at least learn from what I've done. I wouldn't be really active, and we'd have this place still unless you want to head back to the old house." He mentions with a slight smile to tell her that he wouldn't mind that.

She picks up the steak with her bare hands and lifts it to her mouth, tearing into it like a wild animal. Omnomnom!

"Not yet. I don't want to be far while Sunny's pregnant and Samuel is... still here." Charity says, and moves into Edijar's lap, buring her face against him. "But after. That'd be nice."

"I was a scout in the Saracen army of the Holy Land," Iamar lies. It's a well-practiced lie, though, so Anna probably won't notice. "I led a reconnaissance team while tried to invade our homeland."

Edijar's Place

Edijar wraps his arms around his girlfriend and rests his head on top of hers, sighing as he lets it all out. "Then we can stay here for now. And after..." He says, pulling back slightly to try and lift up her chin so he can look into her eyes with a smile. "We can get that white picket fence, 2.5 dogs...I'll be in the kitchen with just an apron on to serve your every beck and call..." He tells her with a chuckle. "And I'll buy the best damn coffee maker that money can buy."

"You don't look like a normal scout." Anna observes. She can't tell if Iamar is lying, but she does have a sort of a point.

Jyarl chuckles at Jefferies' barbaric nature and just shakes his head as he uses a fork and knife on his own steak. Old habits died hard after all, even when something as cute as the orc girl tried to show a better way to do things.
