"I'll recover, Gus. I promise." She says, patting a spot on the bed next to her. "So, what happened?"

Clinic Room 12

Bugs ignores the two for just a moment to dig through the drawers of supplies and pulls out a little scanner wand. He waves it slowly over Terral's body and it should tell him if anything's borked.

Vas - Infirmary

"She didn't have anyone, Vas. I... I think people took advantage of her. She didn't tell it like that, but I just got that feeling." He sits down on the bed, his shoulders slumped. "And she loved me before there was a me. I don't understand that."

Vas - Infirmary

"She's your mother, Gus. She never had to know about you to love you. It's how being a mother works." Vasquez explains as she squeezes his hand. "You should tell her about how you and Jake are getting along. She could learn a few things."

Vas - Infirmary

"It won't be easy. They've been at war all her life. She went to that shop hoping to kill Elaine and Jake." He shudders, then crawls back into bed with her, being very careful to be gentle. "I'm going to need your help. Yours and Jake's. I want you both to watch the recordings. Vas, please don't give up on me."

Vas - Infirmary

Vas wraps her arm around Gus and strokes his cheek to calm him down. "I'd never give up on you. Billie won't be going anywhere any time soon, so we can try to get her used to things slowly. To avoid culture shock."

Infirmary - Vas's Room

"You'll have to explain all this to Jake. I wrote to him while you were in surgery... I'm too tired to add to it. And he needs to... let me talk to Billie tomorrow.... I promised her." Gus's voice slurs, showing his exhaustion. It's been a very long day, and he's close to falling asleep in his clothes. "I love you, Vas."

[Front Gate]

The soldiers lower their rifles. One of them, the male one, pulls out a stake launcher and aims it at the vampire. The other asks Caet:
Specialist Nor, can you confirm that you suspect this man of murder?

Infirmary - Vasquez

Vas pulls Gus close against her and rests her chin on the top of his head to comfort him. "L...Love you too." She finally admits. After all she went through to get him back, there wasn't any other word for it, was there?

Infirmary - Vasquez

She'll feel his reaction in a gentle squeeze, a kiss to the base of her throat, and a murmur that isn't quite intelligible, but seems very happy, as he falls asleep in her arms.

[Front Gate]

It's at this point that Caet arrives, carrying a staff alongside him. He's in enchanted remnant uniform, with spell component pouches hanging off of several belts.

His first order of business is to send a short divination over the things the man just placed on the ground., attempting to discern what they are without opening any of them. this'll take a moment, so the guards can do what they wish, Though they can see Caet casting the spell.

[Front Gate]

((while we wait for Morty I can reply to the spell))

The spell will show that the items are all mundane. A few of the blades are poison-coated and the pistol is loaded. They'll want to be careful how they pick up a few of the smaller poisoned blades as they're not sheathed. The leather document fold is full of official documents, and not trapped or in any way dangerous.

The soldiers lower their rifles. One of them, the male one, pulls out a stake launcher and aims it at the vampire. The other asks Caet:
Specialist Nor, can you confirm that you suspect this man of murder?

The winged man shifts his weight slightly as people do when they're growing bored, otherwise he simply stands there with his hands on his head. Interestingly, his attention is completely focused on Caet, the soldiers aiming stake-launchers and rifles at him do not seem to warrant his attention.

He's one odd-looking vampire, with such lushly feathered wings. One would expect leathery wings on a vampire, or none at all.

Clinic Room 12

I don't know how accurate that wand is, but his head is undamaged. There are several places that will become bruises, and his left knee will give him trouble for about a week if it isn't treated.

If it picks up other details, feel free to say so and I will go into detail. His Internal anatomy is very far from human, but he doesn't have any other injuries.

"Indeed," Caet says, grimacing at someone using his real name. Not like they weren't allowed to, but he prefers the assumed name for several reasons, "Chimeric mix between phoenix and vampire, and he matches the other points of description. This is him."

[LadyOfWar]

[Front Gate]

Hearing Caet's words, the man replies: "If the victim in question is one Jessica Lin of Limit Street in this city then I am here seeking her murderer as you are. Look in the documents, they will explain all. She was killed by another of my species, a traitor with a price on her wings. If that is not the victim in question, I'd thank you for information on any others the traitor has harmed."

Clinic Room 12

The scanner would be as detailed as possible, but unless there's something wrong with him internally, the details can be handwaved. "No concussion. Just being forgetful." Bugs surmises before taking a vial from a rack in a cabinet and offering it to him. "Take that. It'll knock out the bumps and bruises."

Infirmary - Vas's Room

When Vasquez awakes, she'll find Jake sitting up in a chair, reading Gus's journal and frowning.

Exam Room 12

Charity smiles and gives a sigh of relief. "Three cheers for absentmindedness."

Infirmary - Vas

Vas sits up, feeling much better than before, but sighs when she sees Jake. "It's been a long day with Gus." She manages to say before needing a drink frm the glass beside her.

Infirmary - Vas

"I never knew what had caused it. I should have realized. Once it started happening to me, I should have recognized her behaviour for what it was." Jake rubs his temples. "Gus thinks I should talk to Billie. Do you think that's a good idea?"

[Morty]

[Front Gate]

Fortuitous if true, the female soldier responds, then both of them look to Caet. He's supposed to know this vampire.

[Halae]

[Front Gate]

"Not good enough. The murderer was a man, not a woman," So, either lying or doesn't have the full story...

Caet nods to the guards, confirming that they should detain him, but he doesn't help. He'll be no help to a creature like this that is mostly unaffected by magic.

Infirmary - Vas

"I think you should talk to both of them. And then let Gus talk to the other half too. Take that camera with you so they can finally speak to one another if possible. You and Gus worked things out after all, so maybe they can too."

[Cafeteria]

Grimzig is sitting on one of the benches, with one of his subordinate engineers sitting on either side of him, all three peering at an open issue of Nexusmopolitan and, of course, arguing about something.

Exam Room 12

"It's a little noisy around here, even if you can't hear it. My ears are much more sensitive than human ears; it's easy for me to miss something if I don't pay enough attention."

He will look at the bottle before downing the fluid quickly.There's less than no reason to argue.

[Front Gate]

He repeats in a tone filled with equal parts authority and annoyance, "Read the documents. Then we will talk. You will want my help. As for this..." The man's attention flits to the guards, giving them a view of his chillingly dark eyes. "...I will come...quietly... after I've spoken with someone in charge."

Perhaps more importantly, however, he makes no moves to flee or fight just yet.

"I think you should talk to both of them. And then let Gus talk to the other half too. Take that camera with you so they can finally speak to one another if possible. You and Gus worked things out after all, so maybe they can too."

"I don't know if Gus will want to talk to Billie. He's pretty angry at her for hurting you." Jake reaches out to stroke Vasquez's organic hand. "I am too. I'll have to try though."

The notebook's narration of events only goes as far as Vasquez recovering from surgery. Jake doesn't know about Billie's self-harm, or Gus going to see her.

"He's already spoken to her." She tells him before squeezing his hand. "She attempted suicide in order to get him to." With that, she goes into detail about what happened. Even after that though, she sounds like she's not mentioning something.

Clinic Room 12

He'll feel the aches and pains vanish from his body. "Anything else you're concerned about?"

Jake tries to pull Vas into his lap. "Vas? What is it?"

"Not really... hey, what's in this? I don't think I've ever had anything that works so fast."

Some have come close, but most of those have side-effects like complete numbness or passing out.

Infirmary - Vasquez

With a heavy sigh, she explains the last thing that happened before Gus fell asleep. "I didn't know what else to say."

Clinic Room 12

"Just a small healing potion. Nothing particularly special." He tells Terral. "Quicker and easier than technological means, but many people have bad reactions and magic can't heal certain wounds."

Jake kisses Vas on the temple, his heart sinking. "Do you mean it isn't true?" he asks.

"I really don't know, Jake." She answers quietly and taking his hand. "I wouldn't know what it feels like, but what I do know, is that I feel the same for both of you."
