Ok, I just saw this, and had to share with you guys.

Yesterday, my dad and another store owner back home put their beards on the line for charity.The plan was that if they raised more than 5000SEK (About £450 or US$700) in just under 3 weeks (from May 1st until yesterday, May 19th) for cancer research, they would have their beards shaved in public, during a spring festive event organised by the local merchants.

This is how everyone in the community have known them to look for a long time (my dad's on the left, with the full beard):

I have personally never seen my father without a beard, as he's had it since sometime during the 60s.

Well, the collection of money was a success, and they managed to get about 7000SEK collected by the date set, so their beards had to go.

I can honestly say that if I had seen the picture showing them after the shaving, and I didn't know that was my dad, I'd not have recognised him. I could have passed him on the street and not known it was him.
It's kind of scary....

Apparently my dad did something similar (though not for charity) a couple of summers back at the camp he worked at. I never saw it, and don't want to if there are any pictures. He tells me that he can still count the number of times he's shaved on one hand.

The ballad of Little Musgrave and Lady Barnard is one of the names the song is known by, it's much more commonly goes among the name of (the ballad of) Matty Groves....And yes...Our Little Musgrave was female because our group has more women then men.

In fact, for all the eclipses visible in Brisbane over the next thirty years, totality will not be observable from Brisbane.
But by then, I can afford to travel, so I should start shopping for a suitable outfit to wear.

If you just take a visit up to Cairns in Northern Australia, there's a total eclipse due there on November 13th at around 6:30am local time.
