Fade goes over the latest news. Seems like nothing interesting happened. The nexus news are very uninterested.

There's a few interesting tidbits on recent events - a war between a city and the empire it's seceding from, a farming village near Inside left almost completely abandoned, a charity auction at MaGLoG...

"What? What are they? Spheres of energy?" Teq asks, looking more closely at the orbs. "How do you use them?"

Fade skips over the city and the auction, mainly cause other chars of his player are involved and he don't really feel comfortable there. The village is another thing, maybe there is some strong being doing so. Could be worth a look.

"You could say so. They store energy inside. It's a hard work to control them and you need a natural ability to do so. They call their kind Planeswalker. Odd name. Using them is easy if I take an amount of the right color I can create an effect. So taking a few red would allow me to spear fire as one of the cheep ways to use it."

    The spheres just disappear.

"The problem Teq is they are only visible if I want. I could cast spells without revealing them like this."

He just follows Teq to the bar again, still checking the farm thing. Maybe there is a hint where to go.

"Mm. Well, good luck finding the battery on that little device," Teq says, pointing at his headset and stepping into the elevator. Presuming Fade follows, the two of them can travel downward and enter the base proper.

"Jane?" Teq walks toward the receptionist. "Is there any news on the job?"

Fade should be able to input the coordinates and get a GPS readout of the location.

Teq's eyes widen. He hopes the third member has transportation. "Five minutes? Fade, we need to go now. My ship can make it." Teq turns to leave, knowing that such things as mass-murder must be timely affairs.

Javert slinks over to Jane warily. Well, a contract at the moment please...Though perhaps in the future I may return. Javert grins and looks over the boring woman. He wasn't too impressed, but he knows that appearances can be deceiving. After all, Javert was actually a powerful shadow demon under his drow disguise....or was it the other way around? Is there someone I need to talk to?

Given that the disguise that Jane has taken is intended to be underwhelming, that's just a job well done to her. "You'll want to negotiate with the head of the organization. He's in there," she says while gesturing to the door to the Operative's office.

((How resistant is Javert to psionics? Would the Operative be able to, say, learn his true name?))

Thank you...Ms. If you ever need anything to contact me with, have my card. A business card flies out of his pocket and onto her desk...though...it has no occupation on it. It's a phone number only. He walks to the Operative's door and opens it slowly. He'll walk inside if uninterrupted. Greetings?

Well, Javert had been weakened by the holy grenades used to attempt to assassinate him merely hours ago. He does not notice due to his weakened state. His real name is X'anezoth. (pronounced Sanayzoth.)

Hello...I am Javert. I would like someone killed...obviously.

Due to the very demonic nature of Javert's real name, the Operative decides that he might want to hold on to that name until he needs it. Probably if Javert gets snippity about prices.

"Alright. What information do you have about the target?"

Javert tells The Operative blankly. I don't know. Which is why this will be a challenge. Yesterday someone tried to kill me, and I have reason to believe he was not one of you. He was sloppy. Failed to kill me or my partner. Almost killed the wrong target. He was a worm. A human sized worm. I don't know who he works you but I'm convinced that with the right price you could find the worm, figure out who he works for, and kill whoever hired him. I have...substantial payment. Sadly, the operative is genderless, so Javert's usual tactics of schmoozing would not work.

Not only is the Operative genderless, he has no emotions. No schmoozing could possibly work on him.

Upon hearing less about this target any other so far, the ghost just stares through Javert for a few moments. "In other words, you have absolutely no information. Apart from a generic description, with which I could likely find a dozen examples in the Nexus. How do you expect my agents to find anything concrete when you cannot even provide me with an alias?"

Javert frowns. I have a list! People that...don't particularly like me. Who would send and assassin to...dispatch me. I currently suspect Sornulu Xar'cha. Bastard was to meet with me but had some minions slaughter me. Of course, that is a conclusion far from the truth. Sornulu and Javert's murder were completely unrelated. Javert however does not know that. Also...Phineas Reinhardt. He attacked me to impress some dryad whore. I almost killed him. He'd hold a grudge. Maybe Magtok! Though I was more of an annoyance to him. Any of those three would have done it.

"And how much concrete evidence do you have to back your 'list' up with?" the Operative taps his fingertips against the desk, though no noise is made. "You are giving me incredibly little to work with, Javert."

The Operative probably would sigh right about now if he had lungs. Well, it wasn't his place to judge the source of a decent payment. Still...

"If you want anything resembling a contract, you're going to tell me absolutely everything you know about Xar'Cha." He was not about to instigate anything against a prolific house of drow without information.

I know that Sornulu Xar'cha murdered me. Had his minions murder me actually. Wouldn't show up in person like the coward he is. I know that he's some kind of Xar'cha ambassador or something. I met him at The Gambling League of Gambling. I had a proposition with Lord Magtok. It didn';t go as well as I wanted and I was told to meet with Sornulu at The Black Dragon's Den. Then two of his minions killed me. I want him to pay for killing me. Thanks to him, I have to borrow others bodies to survive. I want his body. I want his lifeless body delivered to me once you kill him. Then you will be payed. I am a rich man you see. With the aid of some quite powerful beings. I'd also like you to make this secret. No one must know I was ever here. He cleans a fingernail. So...How much do you want?

The Operative holds up a hand to stop Javert from his rambling. "And that is all the practical information you have? For that, I require (wow, that's a lot of money,) with 40 percent in advance. Secrecy in my contracts is standard."

Javert frowns. He had a lot of resources on his table. He could afford the assassinations, but only if that crystal guy actually supplied him with the magical crystals. He was going to have to make a risk. If the miners did not make a good profit off that mine of Louv're Industries, who knows how he would afford the rest?! Well...he needed the drow dead. Especially if he was behind that bomb that was planted to kill him in Trog's. ...I'll pay 75 percent of that price. He's just one little drow. Not like you're going off to kill Rot or something. How does Javert know Rot? He knows many people...

"You will pay the full price," the Operative says with no hesitance. "You have no information I can use, and you are paying for the killing of a Xar'Cha. For me to deal with a drow house that powerful is very costly indeed." He's budged on his prices before, but this was not going to be one of those cases.
