I might travel up on the Friday and leave Sunday or I might come up Saturday morning to dodge a hotel day.

I'd want to be in the same hotel as everyone else if I do 2 nights. If all the fun is happening at Qwaz's place (or something like that) then I'd probably just abandon the Friday night.

I might be able to assist Grlump and Lime with transport but only if it fits around the times I want to be travelling.

If we have the room booked from 12 Noon, I'll most likely drive to Newcastle on the Saturday morning, to save on cost of accommodation, and I will have to leave early Sunday morning, as I'll likely have to be either in Glasgow or Dundee at about 12:30pm on the Sunday.
Or, if I get a few of my friends roped in who can spell me for driving, I may just make it a day trip to go down there on the morning of the Saturday, and then head back at some point late in the evening.

Hi Englishmen! It's official; I will move to Newcastle in September, from Montreal, to study for a Master! Classes start the 24th, planning to arrive around the 18th, so I have a week to get my bearing on Newcastle ^_^

I wanted to know how costly travel between London and Newcastle. Should I take the coach? The train? The plane? Suck up a lift from one of you gentlemen?

So. I was Thinking About Maybe Perhaps coming up on Friday, but that's no longer possible due to needing to be down the opposite end of the country that evening. Saturday is still a possibility though.

If anybody is travelling North up the M1 on Saturday, could you let me know:
a) if you'd be willing to swing by, say, York and pick me up in exchange for contributions to petrol
and b) what sort of time that would be.

I don't have all the details yet; it may turn out that I won't be able to set off back up north until Saturday evening. I just thought it best to let people know what I'm thinking in advance with the caveat that I can't confirm anything for certain just yet.

Well, I was kind of asking for that a whole page ago:

The main point my mum has asked me to make is that while I've kind of been operating so far on the principle that there is considerable space and we'll figure out where to put people, we should get that figuring out done before the people in question book train/coach tickets in general.

Which makes this kind of my big priority meetup-arranging-wise right now. I need to know who (if anyone) is arriving before the Friday, and who is staying beyond the Sunday (And for how much longer). And then we can match them up to the available space and argue over who gets to accommodate the pretty people.
Please respond, preferably with rapidity.

Walking directions to Bar Loco from the train station:
Come out the main entrance of the train station, with the big arches, and cross the road to Greggs. Turn right, then immediately left again to go up Grainger Street. Keep going until you reach Grey's Monument. Go past the monument, turn left and walk past all the buses. You want to be on the right side of the road as you come up onto Percy Road and immediately cross over to another Greggs. Right by said Greggs is the turning onto Leazes Park Road, Bar Loco is a little way up on the right.
Oh, and we're in the gallery right at the top, I believe (Though obviously you can go to the other bits as well)

Information For Sleeping
Thufir/Tasroth can offer a sofa bed, sofa, and floorspace.
Hazyshade can offer his bed while he sleeps on the sofa, also floorspace. Though he will want his bed back for the monday night.
Qwaz has a sofa, a mattress and floorspace. Though that may only be for the weekend as they may be back to work on the monday.

There are also Premier Inn type places but I don't know details.

So far floorspace or similar has been requested by: Curly, Grlump, Etcetera, Fergo, Succubus, Cassie, Mercenary Pen, Fred, Lime, Minion, possibly Ku.

Partly because we all love eachother so much, and partly because it makes the trip more worth it for the people who have to travel further, the meetup is probably going to be extended in both directions for those who want to come early or stick around longer.

I will be taking part in a G&S sing-along in the evening, at the Cleadon Little Theatre (I don't actually know where it is yet...) at 7:30pm. Facebook event has information. Any Playgrounders who are here on Friday would be welcome. It should be fun!
