Unfortunately, that's the way things go when through a combination of holiday and illness/injury staffing levels drop to about 50%

Slight change of plans: in addition to working 9-5 Thursday, Friday and Monday, I will be travelling down to Birmingham Monday night. So my flat is unavailable then. Soz.

Since many people have completed that table, and I'm the only one so far arriving Saturday PM, I bit the bullet and booked a train. I will arrive in Newcastle Station on Saturday the 7th at 1839, and will leave Newcastle at 1217 on Tuesday the 10th. Near enough AM for me to leave the table intact.

Oh, and Dvil, good spot on that. Totally my fault - my keyboard's been playing up, randomly pressing numbers and moving the mouse about and clicking. Pressing delete or backspace when this happens means things can disappear that I don't even realise have gone.

when i first saw Succ's post I was going to comment, then I decided that I didn't really need the ego boost of being one of the "greatest hits", i'd much rather be the one on the album that everyone loves but was never released as a single... Think Headlong more than Innunendo... though they both made it into Greatest Hits II so bad example...

I assume "pregen chas" = "pregenerate characters", relevant for RPG sessions, of which so far we have none definitely planned. If someone quickly puts something together (I might do so myself), then I'm sure they'll figure something out.

Also, on the subject of additional people coming, could you invite your brother/my ex-housemate?


@People who might want hotel-type accommodation: Going to look at that pretty much right now. Generally, as far as I'm aware, Premier Inn type places are dotted around the area, but certainly some are near the town centre; while B&Bs are more common out towards the coast, which is further from the main meetup venue, but closer to my house, which might well end up being used for some post-meetup stuff? Anyway, watch this space.

@People wanting floorspace or similar: Anyone who's just coming for the main meetup, you should be fine whatever. Things might get a little crowded, but we're fine to take as many people in here as will fit, and I imagine Qwaz/Serp likewise. People staying longer, obviously we're operating based on the goodwill of my parents if you're staying here, and other people have limitations as already stated, but I'm going to take a look through the stated arrival times and such now-ish as well, to try and figure all that out.


@Anyone staying for post-meetup things: In the absence of any objections, I'm going to assume we're OK with the idea of Sunday's main planned activity being kind of a picnic-type thing and possible outdoor games (Frisbee anyone?). Any preferences for whether we go to a park or the beach?

OK, so hotel-type accommodation:

Search results for Premier Inn Newcastle. The top result, Newcastle Central, is the one I mentioned which is only 10-15 minutes walk from the venue, but apparently it has no rooms available for the meetup dates? The one on the Quayside is still reasonably close, and others would certainly still be alright if you're driving.

It looks like the city centre is pretty well supplied with Holiday Inns. Though, something weird is going on with that, I searched briefly for the rates over meetup dates and it seemed to give me cheaper for staying two nights than just one? Something's up there or I was reading it wrong somehow.

Travelodge search. Again, the Newcastle Central one is definitely close, but the others, while I don't know exactly where they are, should still be in reach if driving, and it looks like they're cheaper, so could be worth it?


On B&Bs, just searching "Bed and breakfast Newcastle" came up with a bunch of results, not sure how good any of them are. If willing to go a bit further, I know there are some nice ones in Whitley Bay (Where I live), and indeed there's actually a specific website : http://www.whitleybaybedandbreakfast.co.uk/
Probably some in the other towns on the coast, but I can't be bothered to search for all of them.

I don't know how helpful that's been for anyone, since all I did was some fairly basic searching, but maybe that'll make it at least a little bit easier?

Thufir, a question: is it easy to find a parking spot near the meeting place in Newcastle? That could influence the choice of hotels/B&B: if it's easy, we could book something a little more distant.

Also, how are you people traveling from Whitley Bay to Newcastle?
