In the current plan, we* probably won't be able to leave Little Rock much before midday on Thursday; realistically, accounting for stops for gas, food, and very very very VERY frequent bladder breaks** , we probably won't roll into town until midnight or later. So it'll be Friday sometime, probably before noon (though I won't swear to that part), before we really get our Meetup on.


* The present count is RHL+1, LightWraith, Mango, and myself, plus possibly Qaera.

If you buy non-refundable tickets a month or so in advance, flying is pretty cheap. You can fly across the country and back for less than most people spend on gas in a month.

Pretty much what mangosta said. I'll be in the States before the meet-up, so I'm just buying a fairly cheap ticket in advance, after considering a lot of options. A lot. Like seriously.

I'd been saving up a stash of money precisely for the meet-up. This is like the third year in a row that I've been considering going.

Pick a big airport to fly from and a big airport to fly to. Then buy in advance, keep checking for flights, especially +/-3 days if your dates are flexible.

Remember that airlines use a very precise tool to decide flight prices.

I usually check CheapoAir.com when I'm looking to travel. Tends to be less expensive than the other savings sites like priceline, travelocity, etc.

I know some sites, like Travelocity.com, help you out, but I bought my ticket directly from Continental's website (AKA United, now that they merged.)

And a friend is giving me a ride to Chicago so I can fly from there. As far as big airports go... that's one of your better choices.

Yeah. I'm actually practically right in VA beach. So a rental car is looking like my best bet. CheapoAir is also $400+ for me, since there are no particularly large airports any convenient distance from here.

So about the Thorsday night party...let's say I went crazy and decided to start driving at like 5 pm, arriving at your hotel at midnight. Would anyone be awake? Would there be a spot on the floor (because for reals, I can't afford more than the $200 I'm already spending on the hotel, even after recouping ZRS/Chris's portion)? The Thorsday night party intrigues me.

There's probably not going to be much of an actual party. We'll probably get together eat some food, and game a little bit, and then crash because we drove all day, and want to be rested for the rest of the weekend because sleep will be lacking. It's probably a better investment to just get there on Friday.
