Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Savin, Rayen, Enemies, Axara, Quill, [action stopped here] Maesyn, Ryxikor
Maesyn, in full defensive mode, moves towards Axara while looking for the wisp.
Ryxikor moves a double moves and get close to Savin ready to enter the fight.
Savin, tries to strike the shadowslain who has hurt him but the creature strong hide deflects the blow.
Rayen moves next to Savin and ready an attack with her morningstar.
The woman orders Back! and the shadowslain takes 5 steps and unleashes its javelin against Savin. The weapon flies very high above his head, The woman moves into an angle when she can shot at Rayen without obstruction. She shoots her arrow and barely misses Rayen. There still is no sign of the wisp.
Suddenly, the great hall doors open and 4 humanoids creatures appear. These creatures might be human, though they are tall and slender. Their skin is a dusky gray, and their hair is black. Their faces are marked with purple tattoos and pierced with iron jewelry stuck in their eyebrows, noses, and ears. They wear studded leather armor, and shadow seems to cling to them. They carry a short bow as well as a spike chain. In addition, they all wear large cold-forged iron band decorated with elaborate abstract design which has long needles piercing the wearer forearm.

SpoilerThese are Gal-Ralan. They do 1 point of CON damages to increase the wearer resistance bonus (+1 to +5). The Shadar-kai wear these bands to affix their souls to their bodies and prevent them from being drawn back to the Plane of Shadow.
The newcomers position themselves in the courtyard and load their short bow, ready to fire next round. The one that looks like their leader says What do you think you are , heroes? Are you ready to meet a heroic doom?"
Axara moves next to Savin and pulls her wand and touches him. He fully heals immediately.
The cleric says The wisp is a shy creature, feeding on fear of isolated people. As long as we stay together and kicks Shars minions butts, we should be OK.
SpoilerSavin at full health

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Savin, Rayen, Enemies, Axara, Quill, [action stopped here] Maesyn, Ryxikor
Maesyn realizes that a peaceful negotiation is not really in the cards, especially with the group having dispatched two people. He moves towards the group and starts singing, making everyone feel more courageous.
Ryxikor moves 5 steps, sheathes his weapons and grab his bow and arrows.
Savin, moves 5 steps and buries his spiked chain in the shadowslain deeply injuring but not killing the undead (<20% of HP left).
Rayen moves next to Savin and proposes to take the guardhouse and use it as a natural gauntlet. Axara nods Agreed. We need cover.
The woman orders Back! again and the shadowslain takes 5 steps and throws its javelin at Savin but the weapon does not even leave the room., The woman takes an arrow and fires it at Savin and pierce the warrior skin. Savin feels that something is on the tip of the arrow, some kind of sleep poison but his strong metabolism shakes it off easily.
The fours shadar-kai aim their bows and unleashes their arrows at the heroes. The first two ain for Ryxikor and Maesyn but misses they target. The third one pierces Axaras defense as the leader hits Quill.

Knowledge Arcana Shadar Kai
DC 10
SpoilerShadar-Kai or Shadow Fey is a race that made a pact with a dark power of the Plane of Shadow to cast the world into an endless twilight in which the shadow fey would rule supreme. But the experiment went awry, and the shadar-kai were left bound to the Plane of Shadow, cursed to lose their souls in its dark depths. This shadow curse affects shadar-kai to this day, and every member of the race is engaged in a lifelong struggle to stave off inevitable doom.
DC 15
SpoilerThe Plane of Shadow exerts a tremendous pull on shadar-kais soul, which is only tenuously connected to its mortal body. Any time a shadar-kai is stunned, dazed, staggered, or unconscious (other than from natural sleep), the shadow fey must make a Will save or lose a portion of her soul to the Plane of Shadow.
Axara deicdes to move into the gatehouse and attacks the shadowslain to allow the arcane caster to take safe refuge if she can kill it. she fails miserable
Quill tries to scare the shadar-kai using the threat of Wheloon IRS group and creates a minor image of a water elemental.

"Does evil people! They just lack imagination-- yes that's must be the reason why they saw through his illusion" the gnome thinks as the arrow struck within his upper arm remains.
Maesyn song of courage and the gnomes experience with sharp objects prevents the wizard from panicking.
With his illusion blown and not feeling for the idea to turn into a pincushion.

Maesyn fires his crossbow and the bolt finishes in the shadowslains head, turning it into dust. Free of the issue of having spells drained, he goes inside the gatehouse.
Ryxikor unleashes an arrow that buries itself on the closest Shadar-Kai and moves inside the gatehouse. (SK1 <50%)

Rayen moves inside the gatehouse, joining Maesyn, Savin and Axara.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Quill can't really feel al that gratefull for to the help he received from both Axara and Maesyn. The whole situation could have been avoided if they included him in there plans as well. He remembers he had barely finished his spell to discover he was left behind. He gives the bard a nod as thanks for the heal but his friendly attitude seems al gone as Quill fully realises it would have taken not much more and the healing would have been the least of his worries.
Ignoring the stares of the others in the guardhouse the gnome moves to. AT-28
With some difficulty he pulls one of the arrows from his body
"Point one never attempt to distract cultist with an illusion spell they seem to have a bigger head then most politicians"
There goes an other one.
"Point two his life isn't worth much to these vigilantes. Better watch out only for number one right now"
the gnomes hand goes to another arrow.
"The new lady "bone burner" seems to be a compulsive lair. She promised to protect him back at the lizardfolk camp but has yet to make true on that promise."
as he pulls the fourth arrow out of his shoulder.
He realises he didn't tack alone for these vigilantes but to save the citizens Cormyr from cultists that follow an evil goddess.------------------------------------------------------

Initiative: Savin, Rayen, Enemies, Axara, Quill, [action stopped here], Maesyn, Ryxikor
Quill gets up and decides to listen to Axara and enters the gatehouse.
Maesyn moves next to the injured gnome and nearly fully heals the illusionist.
SpoilerQuill: +9HP Currently at 17/18
Ryxikor unleashes another arrow on the same target he previously hit and it buries itself in the shadar-kai heart, sending back the creature to the plane of shadows.
Savin realizes that Axara is now the single target and decides to make himself a target. He moves to the entrance of the gatehouse and throws a javelin that lands feet away from its intended target.
Rayen urges the others to move inside the gatehouse.
The fours shadar-kai have now two targets, Axara and Savin. They unleash their arrows but both the warrior and the cleric can deflect them. After that they start moving closer to the gate house.
Axara goes back inside the gate house before saying to heal Quill, whispering under her breath Wait! Did we just cage ourselves? There is no other way out ..
Once in the gatehouse, Quill muses his situation. He realizes that he was not trained in the art of adventuring and that a lot of strategies which looks good in a book in the library are dangerously deadly on the battle field.

The elven warrior, satisfied that he took out one of the archers, after dispatching the first guard so quietly and efficiently, just about to relax a bit, hears Savin's instructions and readies his next arrow to help cover the other warrior. Having flashbacks of headstrong warriors charging into battle, and many falling, Ryxikor shakes the images from his head as he sights down his next target. Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Savin, Rayen, Enemies, Axara, Quill, [action stopped here], Maesyn, Ryxikor
Maesyn looks around the guard house and sees crates with the word Food on them. On the table he sees a deck of cards (depicting dragons of every color as well as a few humanoids) and a pair of ivory eight-sided dice with jet inlays.
Ryxikor buries another arrow on the shadar-kai, damaging him badly (<20% HP).
Savin charges the nearest shadar-kai. Using his spiked chain, he easily drops the shadar-kai. Once the man is on all fours and prone, the warrior hits his right in the face with the spiked ball. The bones are no match for the metal ball which buries itself deep into the skull, killing him instantly.
Rayen comes outside and unleashes her acid breath on the shadar-kai that Ryxikor hurt. Although he has enough reflex to avoid some of the acid, the quantity is still to big for him to avoid it hit his face and the acid burns the brain through the eyes.
The last standing shadar-kai gives them a strange smile. If it is the way you want it, heroes, lets do it and withdraw back in the building.
Axara goes back outside and sees no sign of living enemies.
Quill asks his assistant who makes him feels that there is no danger outside.
