Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
The group discusses various strategies, from illusions to using daylight and protective spells.
Axara looks at Quill and smiles Quillmeister, you look funny with your assistant on top of your head with your muddy robes. You dont look like an accountant anymore. May be we can make an adventurer out of you
Ryxikor offers to scout around the mound to see if there are other entrances although he is surprised there are no guards.
Maesyn thinks it is not necessary as he did not expect to have wandering patrols.
Axara interjects I agree with Maesyn here. I do think the shadowscales expect to be attacked/invaded. We stopped anything or anyone that could warm them. I think they feel safe and confident. But Ryxikor is also right. Finding other potential entrances/exits can be important to make sure that our presence on this curse plane is still unknown. And the hide from undead potion should do the trick. Just try to be quiet and dont engage anyone. And the spell does not last forever.
After about 5 minutes, Ryxikor comes back. The hide from undead spell has stopped working. The rogue has seen no sign of undead outside of the warren. He did however found two more wicker gates on the other sides of the camp. These gates did not have lights. The height of the warren varies from 5 to 7 feet. The walls are more of deadwood, underbrush and a crude mud-wattle. The thickness varies from area to area.

"I've never liked crashing the front gates of any place." Ryx tells the others. "I suggest one of the other two entrances." he adds as he unshoulders his bow and nocks an arrow.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
The group decides to go to the door on the north.
Ryxikor approaches the door, trying to be as silent a possible. He put his door and hears a soft hissing. He checks and finds the wicker door is neither locked nor trapped.
However, as he inspects the door, he steps on a twig and snaps it. Suddenly, the hissing stops.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Ryxikor quickly throws his right hand straight up in the air, so everyone can see, and hopefully stop everything they're doing, "Ssh, there's something in here and I think it heard me stepping on these dead twigs."
The elf reaches for a vial on his potion belt as he whispers, "Everyone prepare yourselves. Quill and Maesyn, you should stay at the door, don't even come in until you know there are no undead near you."
With deft fingers, Ryx pops the cork off the vial and drinks it's contents, a concoction to help protect against evil, then looks to Savin and Axara, "Protect yourselves, strike true, and let's kill some undead vermin." he whispers with his sinister smile.
With that, the elven mercenary drops the vial, unsheathes organripper and a masterfully crafted dagger from a sheath strapped to his right calf. He opens the wicker door and does something he never likes to do, he leads the party into danger.
He moves into the room and to one side, engaging the first enemy he see, with two vicious slashes with his daggers.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Maesyn prepares the group by using the magic he knows well. He pulls out a scroll, read it and suddenly Ryxikor is much more agile than even before. He pulls another scroll and uses it on Axara. Suddenly the cleric is much more attractive and fascinating than she ever was. After that, the bard changes his appearance and looks like a lizardfolk.
Steersissk looks at him with a nervous lookWhat kind of curse magic is this? A silver lizardfolk?
Quill smiles No need to worry. This is good magic, approved by the Council of Elders of Wheloon and the Bardic Order of the Millenium Oak, as documented by Sir Geodefroy of the Leave in 1157 in his treatise .
Steersissk just nods, totally confused by what Quill is saying. The lizardfolk stays next to Quill, at Ryxikor, Savin and Axara are getting ready to enter the shadowscale mound.
Axara looks at SavinPlainsman, I think I should be the one following the elf. If it is undead as expected, I can try to deal with them. If it is more than that, you can step in and save me like a knight in a shiny armor!
In the meantime, Ryxikor drinks a potion of protection against evil and draws his weapon.
Finally ready, the elf nods and opens the door and enters the mound. The inside of the mound is muddy and wet. Roots and branches jut through the floor, walls and ceiling, almost blocking the passage in spots. The ceiling is about 5 feet high and the floor is tangled an uneven. A musky, reptilian scent pervades the air. Torchlight flickers ahead in a large chamber where several more twisting passageways meet.
Ryxikor steps in followed by Axara. The rogue is looking for shadowscales but does not see them. Luckily Axara behind spot one and warn the rogue, preventing him to be flatfooted.
4 javelins go flying toward Ryxikor but the elf easily avoids them. However, he hears the sound of a jar being thrown and broken and a stirge, now free flies toward Ryxikor and attach itself to him
Initiative time!

"Just let us know if it is 'save' enough to enter, brave heroes"
Quill said without any melange.
His hand goes to his scrollcase ready to wipe up the daylight scroll but he stops. Will the spell really remove the illumition where it's rays shine. And if it does would somthing else be just as good? As he remembers they haven't even used a light spell or an other source of light as there eyes could see.
he casts Dancing Lights and directs it at F28.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Initiative: Maesyn, Quill, Axara, Ryxikor, Savin, enemies
Maesyn moves closer to the mound but still staying outside to avoid losing his spells. He stands motivating the trouping, making them more efficient in their attack and stronger against fear.
Steersissk looks at him with a nervous lookWhat kind of curse magic is this? A silver lizardfolk?
Quill prepares to cast a lighting spell and directs it inside the mound. He realizes that he needs to be extra careful with his magic to make sure the spell works. to do so and this would suck his spells. He also notices that each light only does 10 feet of bright light for normal vision or feet for low vision. The Shadow plane has its peculiarities as the group is learning.
SpoilerOuro, what is Quill spell status? thanks
Also, without entering the mound, Quill can only place his dancing lights where he can see.
Axara goes inside the mound and raises her medallion of Mystra. Lady of Mysteries, please grant me the power to turn these undead monstrosities to dust!. Her holy symbol turns really bright and the sound of 5 undead turning to dust can be heard.
The group can also hear the sound of glass jar breaking and flying creature escaping.
Axara says Keep talking Silver tongue elf. I like it. And I think we are free of undead monstrosities.
Savin positions himself behind Ryxikor as the elf battle the stirge.
Ryxikor moves deeper in the mound and stabs the monster which was attached to him before he can drink his blood.
A now free stirge start flying toward Ryxikor while another one attaches itself to the cleric.

"Well done priestess !" Ryx says as he realizes Axara just destroyed all the undead in this room. "Savin, could you help her with that flying nuisance?" the elf asks of the plainsman, as he is ready to pick up his dagger until he spots another stirge flying in his direction. Ryxikor decides to keep his left hand empty, in case he need to grab at the large insect in order to not get stuck with the large needle of a nose. Ryx agreeing with the others, moves to the next wicker door, that Savin indicates. Holding only organripper the elf opens the door and looks to see where it leads. The elven mercenary again leads the others into certain danger, however with the potions and spells placed on him, and with hide from undead and invisibility potions still within reach, Ryx is at least comfortable with his own outcome.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
Ryxikor opens the southern door and the group sees several thick trunks supporting the tangled branches and mud wattle ceiling of this spacious chamber. At its apex, the ceiling in this area looks to be about 20 feet high. To the south is a pool of dark, still water and large wicker gates lead to the south and the east. Several fire pits lines with stones are scattered about the room but all are dark and cold now. A clutter of dusty with cobwebs wicker baskets, fishing spears and rusty knives are against the wall, evidence that this tribe was once thriving in this plane. Near the center of the room stands a low wicker cage with something dark moving within.
Several dark-scaled lizardfolks crouch here, fangs bared and claws extended. The shadows seem to cling to their bodies like thick black cloak, rippling silently.
One of them looks at the elf with the double blades and states You are not a black priest. Alarm!
All four shadowslains yell a loud a possible Alarm! Alarm! while picking up javelins.

Re: Cormyr - The Tearing of the Wave
"Wow, that was surprisingly easy. Thanks to the expertise of Axara." the rogue says with a smile.
As Ryx moves into the next large room, he sees the undead abominations, they yell something at him, but he can't understand their language. The elf doesn't wait for any translations, he understands they are there for only a couple reasons; to kill off the undead, and to possibly save some lizardfolk that haven't been changed yet. Ryx moves to the nearest of the undead and draws his masterfully crafted dagger, then attacks the creature with organripper, moving around the tree trunk as they fight.

Initiative: Axara, enemies (Action stopped there), Savin, Quill, Ryxikor, Maesyn
Axara enters the room and decides not to try to turn undead as the alarm has been sound. She expects more undead lizardfolks to come and wants to destroy as many as she can. She does not go into the room to catch all the allies and cast bless to ensure her friends are more accurate in their attack and stronger against fear.
One shadowslain goes to the wicker cage and opens it. A giant beetle like creature the size of a pony squats out of the wicker cage. It has two large claws, razor mandibles, and a flaring, bell like cup atop its heavily armored head.
One shadowslain throws its javelin at Rxikor while the other two rush Ryxikor. Thanks to the elf agility, none of the attacks reach him. While attacking the shadowscales scream Alarm! Alarm! Intruders

Spoiler
All info for 2 dagger attacks are in last IC post and OOC post.
