So apparently, they're giving a free month of playtime to anyone who has an active account and a level 50 character. Almost certainly an attempt to placate the people angry about the ranked warzone problem, but still pretty neat.

Yeah origin and EA are not happy with us Icelanders so there are a lot of games that we can't buy from there. Luckily I think it's only 6500kr from Elko and EA will accept your credit card for the subscription.

Yeah the free month is an effort to placate the people who are annoyed after the rated warzones being with drawn from the 1.2 patch.

After the "removal" announcement the official thread BioW started on the Tor forums has gone ballistic. Its been less then 24hrs and the thread is just shy of being the largest since the official game release. (the largest being related to the server ques experienced when the game first came out.)

With a few interesting games (D3, Tera, GW2 and Silent world) due out in the next month or so this couldn't come at a worse time for them IMHO.

Warzones, Shmorzones. The best part of the new patch I just found:

Tactical Advantage no longer triggers a "laugh" sound effect when it occurs.

The Republic get the standard commando action to rescue their VIP, not quite WAAAAAR. At the beginning of boarding party, you can bring up the treaty with Malak. He pretty well goes 'eh, it's about to break anyway'.

You then destroy a Republic fleet in Republic space in order to murder someone in the custody of the Republic. That's pretty well war right there.
Okay, that definitely makes the most sense.

THat actually made me sad. I loved the giggle. now it just mechnical shoomp sound. at least they made up for it by including /agent. that is pretty badass animation.

I love the new interface. and the legacy system that allows multiple buffs oh my is that great( we tend to have 0 sorcs or assassins).

I have question on crafting.and orange gear. I have some favorite gear i like. the Cadimimu chest piece and the imperial officer wear I think it was quest item. Can you reverse engineer them to get a craftable gear? or are we stuck with what ever orange craftables we have now?

In light of this, and some research into Lost Island, I think we should rethink the current weekend event.

    Lost Island HM seems to be based on the idea that people attempting it have pretty much full Columi, perhaps with some Crafted Rakata and the Rakata Earpieces and Implants and Campaign relics to make things easier (As a result, it drops the Rakata Chestpiece). I don't think any of the Usually Lawful Evil crew are quite here yet. With this in mind, we have two possibilities I can think of;

-Lost Island Story Mode: We have groups of guildmates do this, just to see how the story unfolds and to figure out boss strategies for later.
-Eternity Vault run: If MCerebus's free week is here, we'll have 2 healers (Muci and Dao-Ren), 2 Tanks (Hessar and Smash), and 2-3 DPS (Salur, Gorin, and Trin'ev, but coordinating with Trin'ev is difficult since I don't think Trin'ev visits the forum much). I think most of us have the gear to at least get through the first few boss battles, and with good coordination, I think we could take down Soa after a few tries.

Default Star Wars: The Old Republic Game Update 1.2 Released, Trailer

After several hours of downtime this morning, EA and BioWare Austin have announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic's Game Update 1.2: Legacy is now live, bringing the new legacy system, "Kaon Under Siege" flashpoint, "Explosive Conflict" operation, and "Novare Coast" warzone to the game. To celebrate, they've also released a spotlight trailer for Operation: Explosive Conflict:

    http://youtu.be/Fsrb7OnXW3I

And here's the full press release, which promises 30 days of free game time for players with a level 50 character and a week of free game time for all former subscribers:

BIOWARE RELEASES MASSIVE CONTENT UPDATE FOR STAR WARS™: THE OLD REPUBLIC™; GAME UPDATE 1.2: LEGACY

Update for Subscribers adds Tremendous Amount of Higher Level Gameplay Content and New Game Features to the Award Winning MMO

Austin, TEXAS – April 12, 2012 – Create a family legacy that can rival the Skywalkers! BioWare™, a Label of Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) and LucasArts today released Game Update 1.2: Legacy, the highly anticipated content update for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. This massive update delivers an incredible amount of new high level gameplay content for players and also includes the evolution of the Legacy System, a feature that ties all of your characters together into one family, regardless of class or faction, and allows them to unlock custom new abilities. Game Update 1.2 will also include some of the communities’ most sought-after game enhancements including user interface customization and guild banks along with gameplay and balancing fixes.

To celebrate the release of Game Update 1.2 and thank fans for their support, BioWare also announced that it would offer Star Wars: The Old Republic players a number of in-game rewards*:

    • All subscribers with active game accounts on April 12, 2012 or April 21, 2012 will be rewarded with an in-game Legacy Reward: the Tauntaun Ram Pet via in-game mail.
    • New players who subscribe to The Old Republic before April 21, 2012 will also receive the Legacy Tauntaun Ram Pet.
    • All active subscribers who have achieved a level 50 character by April 12, 2012 will receive 30 days of game time at no charge as a reward for their loyalty to the game.
    • Former subscribers with inactive accounts are invited back to play Game Update 1.2 for up to seven days at no charge starting April 13, 2012.

Game Update 1.2: Legacy is a huge milestone for The Old Republic and clearly demonstrates what we mean when we talk about this game being a full-fledged, ongoing service,” said Dr. Greg Zeschuk, General Manager of the BioWare Label’s MMO Business Unit and Co-Founder of BioWare. “Not only is Game Update 1.2 the largest update for The Old Republic, but it also addresses a lot of the game features and enhancements our players have been asking for since we launched a little over three months ago, We are incredibly proud of the team for being able to deliver an update of this size and quality, in a relatively short amount of time.”

Game Update 1.2 is highlighted by the next evolution of the Legacy System, giving players the ability to give all of their characters a strong familial bond in the form of bonus abilities and character customization. Players will link their different characters together into a single family tree, giving them the power to unlock and share special Legacy-only abilities, and new convenience items for player ships including the Galactic Trade Network terminal. The Legacy System will also give players the ability to unlock new races for new characters and will be advantageous in strengthening companion characters affection and moral alignment through bonuses.

In addition to the Legacy System, the Game Update 1.2 will introduces other game features, including improved UI customization, Guild Banks and valuable new in-game items. This game update will also introduce challenging new high-level content for both experienced and new players to enjoy:

    • Flashpoint: Lost Island continues the story of Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege from Game Update 1.1 – Rise of the Rakghouls. Players must survive a menacing island of mystery on Ord Mantell as they hunt for clues to the Rakghoul virus outbreak that ravaged the Tion Hegemony. But the answers to this riddle may prove fatal! This flashpoint is for groups of four Imperial or Republic players with characters at level 50.

    • Operation: Explosive Conflict sends players to a new zone on the planet of Denova, where traitors and mercenaries are selling the rare explosive mineral baradium to the highest bidder. Players will battle through hordes of droids, mercenaries and deadly creatures all fighting for control of the planet and its valuable resources. This Operation is for groups of eight or sixteen Imperial or Republic players with characters at level 50.

    • Warzone: Novare Coast pits two teams in an epic battle to control multiple mortar locations and use them to bombard vulnerable enemy bases. Like the Huttball Warzone, Novare Coast can be played Republic vs. Empire or with players of the same faction fighting each other in a thrilling contest of wills to determine each side’s greatest champions. Like all Warzones, Novare Coast is available for characters over level 10.

The Old Republic is set thousands of years before the classic Star Wars movies, with the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire locked in the middle of an epic, galactic war. EDIT:

Star Wars: The Old Republic Legacy Promotion Expanded

When BioWare Austin announced that all Star Wars: The Old Republic subscribers with a level 50 character would get 30 days of free game time, it was actually met with a lot of anger from those players who have stood by the game since day one but haven't yet maxed out a character. So in order to extinguish some flames and extend the free game time to more fans, BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk has revealed the team's plans to expand the promotion to anyone who has attained Legacy Level 6 - and they're even giving us until April 22nd to meet the criteria:

Hello everyone! At BioWare we're always listening to our fans and we've heard our community's comments around players with Level 50 characters being the only group awarded 30 days of play time. We appreciate the feedback and are pleased to announce that we are expanding our Legacy Promotion, also awarding 30 days of play time at no charge to players that have reached Legacy Level 6 (who may not have a 50th level character).

We just released the innovative Legacy System as part of Game Update 1.2, and felt that looking at Legacy point progression across all of your characters was a great way to reward our most avid players. This means that any of the experience you earn with any of your characters brings you closer to the goal of Legacy Level 6. The choice of how to get to Legacy Level 6 is yours.

First, you need to have passed Chapter 1 to unlock your legacy. Examples of how to get to Legacy Level 6 include:

    • A pair of characters Level 45 and 42
    • A trio of characters of Levels 45, 32 and 32
    • A bunch of characters Levels 35, 33, 31, 29 and 20
    • A single 50th level character that has enjoyed the endgame for a brief time

Remember these are just examples – you’re free to choose how to earn your Legacy experience to gain Legacy Level 6.

We've also got another significant piece of good news: everyone will have until April 22nd at noon CDT (5:00pm GMT - click here for a time zone converter) to have a Level 50 character or Legacy Level 6 on their account to get 30 days of game time on us. (Your 30 days of game time will be applied to your account on April 25th by 11:59pm CDT.) Players will now have multiple options, as well as more time, to try and reach these goals and play all the great new content in Game Update 1.2.

As always, we appreciate your feedback and will do our best to surprise and delight our customers.

Nine days to gain three levels (or get a ton of alts to mid-level)? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

...Although that would probably require controlling my compulsive completionism, which when it comes down to it is worth more than $13 (6-month subscription) to me.

Actually if you're legacy level 6 on any character, you're gold.
