Once again, an absolutely gorgeous use of the web as the medium for a comic.

I'll have to look, but I can't recall if the smoke eels from the Ch 2 scene were red or not. If these red eels on the last few pages are different, I wonder what that difference signifies.
I have my own TV show featuring local musicians performing live. YouTube page with full episodes and outtake clips here.
I also have another YouTube page with local live music clips I've filmed on my own.
Then there is my gaming YouTube page with Kerbal Space Program, Minecraft, and others.
Finally, I stream on Twitch, mostly Kerbal Space Program and Minecraft.

I really, really liked the way this update's layout ran. It conveyed the tone of the scene extremely well O.O

I was thinking about Duane's inner self, but yeah, it could be.

Do you mean the red snake things? Those are called smoke eels. They're actually ghosts (fragments of memory lost in the khert). Smoke eels specifically are memorys of despair and death and horror and pain and etc. That's why they're Unsoundeds mascots of death and destruction (wonder why they're inside Duane...).

Ghosts can "infect" pymaric devices and control them sometimes (this includes plods). You may get a cool personality like Boo but more most ghosts that infect pymarics are not so nice. When the smoke eels went into Duanes shadow I though he was infected but now...

I have no idea what those other creatures are. I thought they may have been ghosts or senet beasts that went into his shadow and now live there but than why is the tentacle sex pymaric there? Then I thought they might be Khert related creatures as seen through Khert-vision (TM) but than why didn't we see normal versions of any of those other beasts? Argh so many questions!

Adding fuel to the fire is Ashley implying (on Formspring) that his shadow has nothing to do with pymary and is something completely different.

Hey...did anyone else notice that the tentacle pymaric inside Duanes shadow has very human seeming legs .

So .... the thingies could be representations. The picked-almost-clean corpse could be Turas, the leggy tentacle pymaric could be ... well the tentacle pymaric.

In that case I wonder if the two-headed giant shadow is Duane.

I'm still on the 'this is inside Duane's soul team' though. At least it would seem quite appropriate for someone as tortured as Duane to be so fubar inside - also, it's made of people. I don't think the Khert is.

We have a confirmation from Glass's (the creators) formspring account that the tentacle thing in Duanes shadow has no relation to the tentacle pymaric.

We have confirmation from the creators formspring that Sette is in the Khert. I have no idea if that allows Sette to see into the past or not.

Also, that symbol on the birds beak is supposed to represent the khert and it's mysterious, unsounded depths.

Considering what almost happened a few pages ago, it wouldn't be far fetched that Duane's thinking, "I've had to put up with Sette's crap for half a continent! I get to eat her, not you!"

Got a few pages in, very interested to see where this is going. I usually hate the anime/manga aesthetic, but I find this tolerable. Excellent art work and color. The website is beautiful.

So glad I clicked on this thread; this is a wonderful webcomic.

Where the index page shows only up till the end of the third chapter (without scrolling down) I thought I was close to being up to date. Imagine my joy when I clicked the next button to find page one of chapter four, only to then discover "up to date" is deep into chapter seven. A splendid treat for the rest of my weekend.

I'm genuinely having problems remembering that this is supposed to be an extended flashback and not the main storyline. Anybody else experiencing that?
