Probably against the rules. Taking an aspect directly from your opponent (like a 'core leach') is apparently considered an unfair or cowardly tactic.

He'd be able to stomp any non tacit caster easily after that.

There is supplemental stuff like stories on the page?

That's the only supplemental story I know of.

I found it by looking through the wiki.

Quiggers could simply have dodged it though, or countered it (although that would've been more difficult since Duane is a tacit caster). Taking an aspect from an opponent requires accuracy. Sette could probably have dodged it herself if she was at all expecting it.

Wow. This was a good one!

So, Duane can replace his own body parts with those of others. That's not a pyramic. It's a severed leg.

Duane can silence impertinent fools instantly. That should make dealing with Sette a bit easier, assuming she learned anything from it.

I liked how Sette gave a handwave indicating she'd only tell something resembling the truth, more or less. I suppose Duane figured that would be close enough for him to guess the rest.

Now the fun part- does Duane remember anything about being in the khert, and if not, will Sette ever tell him what she saw?

So, did a reread and forgot how intense Chapter 7 is, left me all shaking. And just, Sette's face in the last three panels here, I can't look at it without tearing up.

I like how the comic shows the wear and tear on Sette and Duane both as they proceed on this crazy mission. For that matter, I like how damage doesn't just go away when it's inconvenient, whether it's to Uaid, Sette, or the Khert itself. It makes things like the detonating pymaric trap much more important than Action Movie Explosion #297846512734.

    Indeed it did.
Now he's probably trying to sort out if there was any other possible way she could have known about that, and if not, what sort of "dream" could have possibly shown her this?

He's a smart guy. Let's see if his anger keeps him from understanding it.

The author has said that none of his arms and legs are original equipment.

I hate seeing a kid get hit, especially so viciously, but you can't say Sette hasn't been provoking him for a long, long while. Playing with fire and all that.

Still, as Ashley said, bad, bad form on Duane's part. There is never a justification for hitting a child. Never.

The raven is not Ssael, she's Lady Ilganyag (or something to that effect), and is a patron (matron?) of the Black Tongues.

Duane seems angry, but that just might be my impression.

    Ok, that was just heartbreaking.

I wonder if Sette is a reincarnation. It's been 6 years - maybe catfolk mature faster than humans (Sette looks and acts 9)

There's no such thing as catfolk in that comic. Whatever Sette is, it is not a normal thing documented by scholars. She is probably not an actual child, but some magical construct or divine avatar or whatever.

Then that actually makes the reincarnation angle more likely if you think about it. Her feline features are due to the flaws of the process.

Sette is a human with lionlike features, BUT..
her brother is a lion with humanlike blue eyes.*
That suggests something more than a simple accident. Exactly what, I couldn't guess.

*= According to one of Ashley's featured paintings on her website.

Anyway, it kinda bites to have to wait another week for an update, but nice to get a triple-play like this week's. Ashley promises answers to big questions, too. I'm all a-tingle!

What an amazing comic. And it's supremely satisfying to finally see Sete put in her place like that. Girl could use a good beating.

No, she could not. No one deserves to be beaten, particularly a child. Punished and guided yes, but there are more effective and less barbaric methods to that end than beating.

Sette has sorely tested Duane, but he's still the adult in this situation.

The one drawback of Ashley's decision to post the whole week on Monday is the waiting for next Monday.

Sette's a chaotic evil sociopath that only responds to force and has only respect for the strong. You can't really "guide" that, unless by guide you mean administer a good thrashing when she gets too out of line.

Let's just say Duane is now a lot more of a father figure to her after this.

If you want some refreshers: look at her face, especially the left eye, thwack!, look between the second and fourth panels, and how she's rewriting her memories but the old ones are still in the margins.
