"If it's about the bed, usually I don't use it. Though it is monstrously uncomfortable." It's not just stiff, but also lumpy and parts of it are soft enough that after five minutes it's hard due to the bed itself underneath the mattress.

I mean, it's just a guess, but I'd think it would make more sense to place it at the heaviest concentration of ley lines we can find, regardless of where that is in relation to the forest."

Thank you for the offer, but it would be refused unless you pay, and make him suspicious besides." Defelent isn't jealous, he just doesn't want Naethalee to run off with Tracy. So if Naethalee asks for a new mattress for Tracy, he'll know they've been talking and getting to know each other, and Naethalee might be plotting Tracy's rescue. Or possibly capture, depending on if Naethalee intended to free Tracy, keep her, or sell her.

Naethalee listens to Tracy's outburst, and then leans over to hug the girl once she's done.

She isn't out to free Tracy on the basis of her status, per se, but seems to have taken quite the shine to the girl.
