Sephyrdiam, I believe, is simply trying to settle a dispute with no conflict, which makes him a coward, but wise also. And nothing is ever truly lost. If something can be remembered, it can come back. Never forget that. As for the tenses, let me know when you see the might have beens, never were, always will be, and impossibilities. Then you will know my burden. What are we to do? I haven't the faintest idea. I am a goddess of endings, I know that everything has its time and every time has its thing. Your allies will come and go, but turn your face forward and press on is the only advice I can give.

Kansheri, if she had a way to know what was going on with Akna, would have gone to her as well. But, being embroiled in affairs of her own, and was on another plane from her mother until she was about to duel Artoran, she's blissfully unaware of what's going on with her.



The Changeling Queen shrugs as she waits, thinking about what she knows of Artoran's fighting style. "I'm not entirely certain what you mean about my 'direct approach to solving problems'. I've only dealt with one thing so far, at least personally, and there I simply tried to sway people to my side.

Certainly, I have no fondness for how he's going about this, as I said - that is the reason I would have imposed a price in the first place. But my rejection of his proposal would have been as polite as the way his request was phrased deserved, which admittedly probably wouldn't have been very, and verbal, if those were possible.

Besides, why do you think I put the penalty on his loss that I did? I dislike the idea of his creating a deity as his plaything, but that doesn't mean I won't help him make himself a goddess... As my Nayleth say, 'Be careful what you ask a Shaper for; they might decide to give you exactly that.'."

Artoran gives a shout as he rushes the Changeling Queen, twirling Smasher with ease, sending down in an overhand blow towards the Changeling Queen's head.

Gazardiel appears before his mother and sister looking different from when they first saw him. When he was a godling, the angel god was full of joy and curiosity. Now he embodies a sense of stability and maturity. He grimaces at the sight of his mother in pain and rushes to her side, casting a mostly unnoticeable scowl in the direction of his twin. "Mother, what have they done to you to cause you such grief? Please, allow me to defend your honor and avenge you for whatever wrongs have been dealt."

"On the mortal plane my children grow strong. The Lunaeri have built for themselves a strong city and they've learned many of the ways of this world, forging weapons and wielding powerful magic. They've even taken some of the lost kobolds under their wing to help in defending their land and to work for them. They are becoming a force to be reckoned with, though my children are fewer in number than most. I lead them through my mortal form which acts as their High King.

As for myself, I have been learning from Alorn, my companion and fellow member of the Guardians." He takes off the shield strapped to his back and shows his mother and sister. "I've begun to prepare myself in case things come to fighting, but I have not yet fought one of our counterparts."

The new study of magic spreads rapidly throughout the people of Alorn. It is not long before the newfound power leads to strife and conflict, those who would bend bend magic for their own ends coming into conflict with each other and the temple authorities.

The Judge of Champions soon finds it necessary to regulate these upstart mages, bringing them into the fold or casting them out. A new branch of the temple is formed, an order comprised of mages who submit to the temple's authority, tasked with regulating their defiant brethren.

Many join with less than altruitic motives, seeing a new way to advance themselves. Others flee for lands outside the temple's influence, unwilling to submit. Soon, unlicensed magic is all but stamped out, its users converted, exiled, or killed.

The inquisition Arcane is tasked with regulating and overseeing all arcane magic use in the lands controlled by the races loyal to Alorn. They are embodied in the Overseers, a prestige class blending magic with blades techniques (similar to the jade phoenix mage)

Alorn is aware of these events, regretful of some of the excesses done in the name of the law, but understanding the need and frailty of the mortals.

He returns to fashioning another aid, a steed of white fire to carry him across the planes, to join his allies swiftly in battle.

With that, the little girl melts into the shadows, having delivered her message.

Kansheri twisted just enough out of the way to avoid having her head bashed in, though Smasher did come down, hard, on her left shoulder, shattering the spiked chitin plate, and sending a spray of shimmering gold and silver blood into the Void.

Laughing, apparently enjoying herself despite the pain, she danced backward, spewing out a cloud of vile fumes, and dense vapors, all toxic, and rather hard to see through, which Artoran would be forced to enter and try to find her within if he wished to attack.

Leaping to her feet, Akna practically flies to Kansheri's side, physically positioning herself between her and Artoran.

Beast! How dare you try to ravage my daughter?! I will destroy you!

Kansheri laughs, flowing easily to the side, and from there slipping behind Artoran, before impaling him on the Boneblade, sliding it up along his spine, leaving a groove in the bone, though she doesn't actually damage the interior.

(And now over to Jeriah for whatever Akna does to him. )

"Cheater," he spits out, mouth filling with divine blood. "It was supposed to be one on one, no help. If I'd known we could do that Nysv would be here doing her tentacle thing," he says, spitting out a glob of blood.

Then he turns to Akna. "Why did you intervene? She decided herself she wanted to do this. Now nobody wins," he says, obvisously angry but also relieved that he has an excuse to not become a goddess.

The Angel gazes towards the collection of gods that her mother just ran to. She kneels like that for an eternity, or a second, who can tell with the gods, before she rises. She goes to the Lunar Temple and sits and looks at all the shrines wither before her eyes, and sees the spaces new gods will fill, and the empty places of when they have died. And she stands in this mausoleum to the gods, and cries, rages, fights, feasts, and eventually dies. But that is later, and in this now, she stands and mourns those not yet born.

"Maybe you should control your children better!" he says, getting angry. This wasn't his fault after all.

"Is it my fault for making a few sex jokes? That your daughter challenged me to a friendly duel? That I accepted? Void, she wanted to fight me!" he says, becoming enraged. "We had a deal, and now, thanks to you, nobody wins," he says, starting to slowly clap in a very annoying way. "Well done."

Nysv, the Moon

The god of Shadows watches as the events unfolds. As soon as Akna intervenes and effects the outcome of the duel, Nysv says mostly to itself and anyone else left on the moon "Fool... if you are to make an agreement, ensure that at least you have a witness, in case such breach in the agreement occurs." Nysv considers for a few moments "Regardless, the godling has a point. A duel was agreed, and one of the godling's clauses was that it was to be one on one.
