Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
Done fixing my class. Final feedback on formatting AND content are still welcome.
EDIT: And I've had good luck with finding art on dA and sending a note to the artist asking for permission to use it in this case.
EDIT2: DawnbringerSO, your image is stretching the page. Could you shrink it a bit?Last edited by 4th number; 2013-01-31 at 08:09 PM.

And it's a copyrighted image, so you're in violation of the copyrighted image rule since you never mentioned the original creator gave permission for its use.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
So what, you want me to email the creator of the image and ask him if I can use it? I don't even see where it says it's copyrighted, nor do I see a contact for the image. I also see that the image has been used many times by other people.

Here, you can read the actual rule that Roland gave us:

Edit: And I can clearly see the copyright, creator's name and creator's username in the bottom left hand corner of the image.Last edited by Tanuki Tales; 2013-02-01 at 01:24 PM.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
Yaaay, this month's contest has a photo now. =D
It was a pain finding a simple photograph of Pokemon merchandise or a mock-up of Pokemon merchandise though.
Also, please don't forget to vote everyone!

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
I have a question:
How come the contests never allow you to make a plane?

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
I think I may be breaking the theme a little, my entry isn't really based on one kind of pokemon (scyther was my first idea, but I wanted a pokemon that had stages of evolution).
I'll be making a base class around the Kython, a Bug/Lizard hybrid that evolves into different and more powerful forms as a race. I will be drawing on aspects of bug-like and lizard-like pokemon like Scyther, the Totodile chain, the Nidoran chain and the Charmander chain.Roll for it 5e Houserules and Homebrew

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
I hear you there, I once entered a plane for a competition that took up 28 pages of a word document, and I wasn't able to use it all because it was too big.
That was an extreme circumstance however, planes don't have to be nearly as long.
I don't see why there can't be the option of base class, monster, race, prestige class or plane when the situation warrants it. If a person wants to put in the work to make a plane it would be entirely up to them.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
What I'll suggest is this:
Remove mentions to Kythons, since that is both a 3.0 creature and not in line with the contest's theme. Then choose one of those Pokemon as the "main" inspiration and then just state you also wanted to base the entry on the concept of Evolution as it is in the games as well.
It's because people will either:
- Put too much work into it and exceed the scope of the contest.
- Attempt to complete it in time and not finish because of the size of the endeavor.
- Put in the bare minimum job and end up with an entry that is lackluster.
As I said, Planes are mostly fluff entries through and through. The only hard mechanics are any planar traits and that's not enough to base an entry for this contest on.
Now, if a lot of folks want to devote one month to just Planes, that'd be fine.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
I'm going to love seeing the different ways people go with Pokemon themed.
I have some ideas myself, so I may bite. It really depends on if Morph Bark's class goes in the direction I'm looking at.There was something here and in the avatar box, and there will eventually be again. I just need to figure out what I want...

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
Weren't they 3.5? Anyway.
I'll rework it to be based around Scyther, and redo the Kython bits. Chances are Scyther will be a monster that I will make using kythons as inspiration. Possibly even add an evolution at later levels to become an advanced Scyther of some sort.
Edit: Scyther on it's own was kinda limited, so i broadened the class to incorporate alternative companions. As far as I can tell, It won't be the same as Morph Bark's Duel Summoner as you will only have one chosen pokemon with you at any given time (ala Pikachu) instead of an arsenal of summons to choose from.Last edited by Kane0; 2013-02-04 at 10:56 PM.

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
Functionally yes, it would take the same role as the summoner in a party and share a lot of similar abilities. He differs in that he is more martial than magic based and has an animal companion as opposed to a fully customisable eidolon.
Totally stuck for a name though, and hopefully i can hold onto my kython idea for another time.Roll for it 5e Houserules and Homebrew

A monster template: Triad Creature: As Magnemites become Magneton, this ordinary owlbear has fused at the head with two others and gained a permanent levitate effect.
That one's up for adoption if anyone wants it.My Winter Warrior sweeps the awards at Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition X!

Re: Pathfinder Grab Bag Competition Chat Thread
I also have an idea for a template:
Hollowed Husk: Can only be applied to Vermin, changes their type to Outsider (Incorporeal), can only be destroyed by certain conditions:
- Cave-In (As described in DMG)
- Fire Damage
- Hurricane force or stronger Winds (As described in DMG)
- Negative Energy damage
- Rock Slides (As described in DMG)
- Vile Damage
These conditions remove its immortality, and instantly kill it.
But alas, templates aren't acceptable for competitions.Last edited by Milo v3; 2013-02-05 at 06:15 AM.
