Shadowy creatures of ironically furies inspired madness appear streaking towards the clouds as massive black ram headed shields of force swathe Damien and Mopsus in protective charms. More magic flows around the skeletal beast and the heroes as Cherios begins to unspool the twines of fate to allow a little more slack and speed.

Damien vanishes in a faint blur of shadow and mist, his form perceptible only to the keenest and magically empowered eyes. The acid washes through him as if he wasn't there, though it pains him to see Cheiros assaulted in a way that he cannot block or prevent. He closes his eyes for a moment, refocusing his mind, and then he prepares to intercept Furies.

EDIT- Awesome. He readies an action to attack the first Fury to get within 120ft with Searing Charge, which lets him fly in a straight line for his charge at his move speed (in addition to dealing an extra 5d6 fire damage). He switches to his Leading the Charge stance, as well as his Stance of Alacrity.

Cheiros lets the acid wash over him, glad for the protection of his magic, although it's distressing to see more holes appear in the dragon's neck. He nods with relief as he sees Damien handily evade the blast.

    * Were all of the furies killed by the Horrid Wilting? If not, what did the survivors do?
    * Are the ten furies who flew at us all of the furies in the assault?
    * If not, roughly how many more are there, and how close are they?
    * Did the acid balls seem to come from spellcasting, or something more innate?

Still climbing, Cychreides veers off to the left, to delay their inevitable clash with the furies as long as possible. Cheiros, taking his measure of the opponents, opens the gates of hell for another blast of desiccating energy. He reaches back and slides his entire scythe into his packsack.

Cheiros nods back to Mopsus. He sends a quick telepathic message to Hestia, explaining that the new spark that's just appeared is a summoned friendly creature, not one of the furies.

"You are a man of many fascinating hidden talents, sir. Just as these furies have hidden talents. But their attempt to hide from our eyes does nothing against one who can see their very souls."

His hand, already in his pack, draws out a slender black rod. He whispers a dark sentence, and points towards the grouping of furies. A dark cloud, smaller but just as nasty as the one in which they had travelled, appeared and enveloped the entire group of bird-women.

Cychreides veers left again, now travelling away from the battle with the titan, away from the pursuing furies.

Meanwhile, a pair of babbling allips continues to bumble along towards the clouds, about 200' back and 100' below.

The dragon turns left again, so is more or less moving directly away from the harpies. He continues to climb at about a 45 degree angle, with a base movement rate of 180.

The old man ducks instinctively as half a dozen furies abruptly appear around them. He manages to evade the touch of the figure that reaches for him.

The fury delivers a touch of black death to the dragon...but the blackness is absorbed into his already-dead flesh without further impact. The other furies' keen claws are quite another matter, however, and tear whole hunks of his decayed flesh from the bones.

Sensing the presences of new living creatures nearby, Hestia reaches out from her gem and tries to seize control of one.

Sizing up the situation, Cheiros decides that keeping all of them flying is more important than taking out one or two of the furies. He sends a wave of sustaining energy into the dragon.

Cychreides wheels away from the furies' onslaught and flaps away.

    Spoiler
    Show
Lifesight isn't a spell, but a feat (Libris Mortis) that makes living creatures give off light seen only by someone with the feat. No range is listed.

Technically, you can't take any other actions after dimension door-ing. But what the heck, it's epic.

Avasculate is a death effect, and undead are immune to death effects, so the spell doesn't hurt the dragon.

All attacks miss Cheiros and hit Cychreides.

Cheiros will take a full round action to defensively cast an Empowered Heal on Cychreides.

Hestia will try to possess one of the Furies. If it's possible to distinguish, she'll go for one of the more powerful new sparks. If not, then may I suggest a random pick (1d7)[3]? Will save DC 31 or she takes possession and shouts out "Well, this is a MUCH more attractive body!"

Cychreides does indeed need to move to stay aloft, and he will opt to level off and move 90' in a direction away from the furies. Attempting to tumble to avoid AoO's (what the hell, I have a 20% chance!): (1d20-1)[4]. Similarly, Damien's attempt to avoid AoO's as he moves away from the fury that engaged him. (1d20+8)[18]

As the furies appear around the group Damien reacts instantly, his speed and skill honed to a razor's edge. He seems to explode forward in a burst of flame and speed, slamming into the central warrior fury with his greatsword wreathed in flames. He shifts his stance rapidly, bringing his blade down to intercept a strike, and he begins to dance on the air as if it were firm ground.

He twists in a large, spinning blur, lashing out at the furies around him and the others in a massive flurry of blows, striking each of them again and again, attempting to cut them down or drive them back. His blade roars with intense flames, flames that lash out at the furies with an elemental rage.

Readied action to attack the first fury in range goes off. He initiates his Searing Charge as a part of this action.
Power Attack for 1, Charge: (1d20+49)[51]
    Damage: (3d6+53)[61] + (5d6)[20] fire damage

He then counters the successful attack on (the first one). If another fury is close enough, he'll use Scorpion Parry. If not, he'll use Fool's Strike. The only difference is where the attack ends up.
    Redirect, DC 51: (1d20+49)[69]
Thanks to his Counter Stance ability, he'll change stances as a part of the action, from Stance of Alacrity and Leading the Charge to Balance on the Sky and Dancing Blade Form, assuming that the +5ft reach is necessary to reach the three warrior furies. If it isn't, he'll stay in his Stance of Alacrity.

He'll then use his Adamantine Hurricane maneuver to attack them all twice, with his Inferno Blade boost, Power Attacking for 2.

    Fury 1, Attack 1: (1d20+49)[67]
    Damage 1: (3d6+36)[49] + (3d6+19)[29] Fire Damage
    Fury 1, Attack 2: (1d20+49)[54]

    Damage 1: (3d6+36)[44] + (3d6+19)[32] Fire Damage
    Fury 2, Attack 2: (1d20+49)[61]
    Damage 1: (3d6+36)[50] + (3d6+19)[31] Fire Damage

    Fury 3, Attack 1: (1d20+49)[59]
    Damage 1: (3d6+36)[43] + (3d6+19)[28] Fire Damage
    Fury 3, Attack 2: (1d20+49)[66]
    Damage 1: (3d6+36)[44] + (3d6+19)[33] Fire Damage

Feels good to finally use that. Here's hoping his melee is what it should be at this level. If they're too far apart (shouldn't be, based on the size of the dragon/our relative positions) or if the first one completely ignores the fire (judgement call) he may alter his actions slightly.

The sounds and clash of battle fade away from the trio as they flap northwards towards the towering spire of the Gods. As they fly the dragon and furies slowly diminishing to tiny specks in the sky the ground flows underneath them as the olve groves and corn fields lie fallow and empty.

Berenike smiles and says a prayer of gratitude to Athena when she sees the nightime flyer at day, and moreso when even the owl keeps up flawlessly. She normally wouldn't say anything, but she's worried that Angela might get spooked. As a savage Amazon (yes, Berenike has culture-prejudice issues) and huntress, she's worried her flying friend might shoot first.

Berenike looks over to Angela. There are tears on her face, but a joyous expression ... it must be the combination of flight and the wind making her cry. She calls over, "Angela, Athena's owl watches and escorts us in our flight."

If she can respond to Cheiros, "Thank you for the screen. And I shouldn't marvel that all of you are wonders. By the way, I believe that Athena's servant flies with me .... we've picked up an incredibly fast, daytime flying owl that has no problem keeping pace with us or with the wind shear we faced as we came over a farming valley."

Turning away from her contemplation on the owl Angela looks to Berenike with a bit of a puzzled look as to why the obviously strong woman would be crying before returning a shout.

"If you fear that I'm going to shoot our small feathered friend you don't have to worry about that. I make it a habit to not shoot peaceful creatures first and ask questions later. Athena may of sent the owl to accompany us, but for what reason exactly?"

Hearing the voice of the undead spellcaster spooked Angela more then the owl could hope. Just something about the fact a spellcaster could speak to one so far away in another's mind concerned her a great deal.

If she can respond to Cheiros: 'It's weird that a owl taking flight during the day lite hours journeys not only so fast as to keep up with us and not be hampered by the wind, but to travel so far... I daresay that its unnatural enough that it may be a servant of the Goddess Athena. But to hear that you are doing well is good news indeed.'

Hearing Berenike's words, Alcaeus figures she must know what she's talking about. The owl might not even be paying attention, but he gives a crescent-moon salute with his bow in tandem with a slight nod downwards, but otherwise keeps flying and makes sure his senses are fully online for any other trouble.

The giant roc trailing primordial ooze streaks downwards towards the remaining 2 furies that didn't make the transition and only now are emerging from the thick bank of acidic fog. The ooze laden claws ripping great shreds from one of the beasts as it held in the massive pincers.

Onboard the dragon the heroes leap into action delivering massive blows and causing carnage even as the dragons flaps onwards, the massive claw marks regenerating as the liche channels a massive blast of negative energy into the decaying body, huge bones and limbs regrowing and dead flesh knitting itself back together. With three furies engaging the massive globular alien Roc and two dead by Damien's hand the battle seems to be turning in the heroes direction. Below them is still a scene of chaos though you can see dead harpies floating the water or pinned to the decks. Mighty Ajax beating one to death with his hammer, 2 falling with huge arrows from the bow of Odysseus and another couple fighting Bellerophon as he and his trusty pegasus took to the sky.

On the edge of th bay, sails full of summoned wind are the red sailed ships of Sparta and the golden sails of Agammemnon. Any fury that dares come to close targeted by a hail of magical energy or the magical hurled spears from the warrior spartans.

Sadly, for many others the battle does not go well. Scyalla dismembering greeks by the hundred as at least 5 ships lie shattered in wreckage in the frothing water at her base.

In the sky the 2 surviving harpies recover from the strong wind and drop like clawed stones towards Mopsus and Cherios...

Cheiros slides around in the saddle, barely evading the skilful charge of the fury. And he smiles, anticipating the opportunity to counterstrike. He glanced at the glittering wall created in front of the dragon and scowls. More of a problem, but not a lethal one.

Cheiros focuses his attention on the two casters, acting again to literally suck the life out of them.

Exulting in the power of her new body, Hestia darts after the nimble casters and slashes into one of them with all the power she now possesses.

Mentally, Cheiros sends a word of warning to Mopsus, and an instruction to Cychreides.

"Mopsus, please take a firm hold on your saddle. Cychreides, old friend...blast this creature attacking Mopsus, and stall."

The dragon glances back at Cheiros with a surprised nod. He lunges at the fury, then simply furls his wings and plummets a hundred feet or more towards the water below.

Hestia will charge and attack one of the casters. DrK, you'll understand if I leave the actual resolution of rolls to you, since I have no way of knowing what part of their bonuses are part of the body and which are skilled based. Hestia would have a BAB of 10, an epic attack bonus of 2, and the benefits of Haste.

Cheiros defensively casts a maximized horrid wilting on the casters, dealing 120 HP damage, fort save DC 34 for half. If any of the other furies (except for Hestia, of course ) can also be included in the 60' area, he'll hit them too.

Cychreides breathes acid at the fury attacking Mopsus. (9d4)[22] acid damage, reflex DC 23 for half. He then stops flying and plummets 150'.

As the incoming rain of ruinous magic blasts down on Damien he remains calm, balancing on the air, his eyes nearly closed and his composure serene. When the fell power of the furies reaches him he does not attempt to intercept the assault with his blade, or dodge, or redirect the magic; instead he becomes one with the shadows. He becomes One with Nothing, and Nothing accepts him as a part of itself.

Damien's shadowy evasive tactic proves less effective than it was before, and though two of the three bolts of fire pass through him, the withering chill of the Furies' magic sinks into his muscles, eating away at his strength and his stamina. His arms hang limp, and his stance in the air falters. His head falls in what looks like shame, hanging heavily, his back stooped.

The Cheiros and Mopsus drop away, and the sky is clear of anyone but Damien and the Furies. The moment they fall, the air grows dry and still, the ocean breeze beaten away by a dire and terrible heat. Damien looks up, and in his eyes is a kindled flame, brighter and more terrible than the sun.

"You are immune to my blade, fury. Let us see if you are immune to flames as well." He grips his sword tightly, and the air around him begins to grow hotter, until embers and sparks begin to kindle in the clear sky. "You called up your magefire, Furies, and I found it to be lacking. Allow me to show you how a warrior burns!" Damien thrusts his blade skyward, and when he brings it down it is accompanied by an explosion of fire, a massive sphere of flame that reaches out in every direction, hot enough to melt iron and turn bone to ash.

The fires rapidly fade, spiraling away into the smoke and vapor. Damien stands tall and proud, his muscles tight against his armor and his blade held high. He seems to shine with an inner light, and his eyes seem to look beyond the world. For a moment he is divine, the power of his blade and his flame and his heart too much for a mortal to bear. The magical power of the furies is washed away, undone by his power and his will; and then, as swiftly as it came, the power fades, leaving him restored but little different than he was before.

Okay. So. I'm relying on the fact that we're working by RAW here. I don't think what he's doing is overpowered, given the level of the game, but if you disagree please let me know.

So, here's the breakdown. He used One with Shadow, which took no action due to his stance. The next round, he used Inferno Blast, and his Swift action was White Raven Tactics, targeting himself. He then acted immediately after himself in the turn order, using Iron Heart Surge to remove the Strength damage/penalty. I've fluffed it so that he mixes it all together, but this is the best tactical order, because next turn he'll get +2 to attack for Surging.

Inferno Blast deals 109 fire damage, Reflex DC 26. Not the best attack, but it's impressive as hell and it should hit most of them.
