Default Premade characters? Where to find them?

Semi-experienced DM here with a group of first time players.

I really want to skip the whole character creation part since my players have told me what class and race they want but they really don't care about the rest.

So is there any good place with a bunch of premade characters of each class and/or race (class is more important, race is easy to change).

I currently have the red box starter kit and plan to take them through that level 1/2 dungeon and THEN introduce leveling up and picking abilities and such.

If they can tell you what build they want to play that becomes much easier. Each time a build is introduced, they provide a "suggested" build. Not a full made up sheet, but it's a start. Others may have better sources.

Depends on what exactly you want. Do you need pre-made CHARACTERS or pre-made sheets? If you just want pre-made sheets, I'm sure an online character builder will fill it out for you quite nicely. if you want characters, youcould give us the breakdown of what they want, what your camapaign is about and how you DM'ing goes, and I'm sure some good souls at the playground would be more than happy to flesh out some characters for them to play, video-game style (pre-made stories, objectives, abilities and such).

I'd certainly be glad to help with that. I'm sure most of us have fun ideas floating around in our heads just waiting to be played that we don't have time to use.

Just the sheets please. We already have plenty of character ideas but I would like some general sheets to deal with skills, rituals, abilities and attributes.

Then google is your friend, if you don't have an Insider account. Just go after an online character builder for 4.0, and you should be set, simply type in the race, class and build, and it should not only do the rest, but give out the sheet ready to print.

Be careful with the Red Box. If it is the dungeon I'm thinking of, then it is certainly capable of TPKing a level 1 party if someone sneezes at the wrong time, or if you split it across multiple sessions and someone isn't there for the whole thing.

Experienced players will probably steam-roll it.... but as newbs they might find themselves in the position of being hit 50% of the time for 8-9 points of damage, and only second-wind-ing for 7... which can seem like bad odds.

A guard-drake in the first room can hit for 19 points of damage, and it's a "level 2" monster.

If no one in the group plays chess they may have a very bad time in the chess-board room.

If they get annoyed at the stupidly hard skill challenge and decide to attack the white dragon, it is capable of a 2 round TPK with two breaths.

There's a room with a bunch of level 3 town guards with pole arms and a doppleganger/changeling/thingy. The guards hit like strikers and have defences like defenders. Plus reach. So they have more hp than the party and do more damage than the party does...

If I was doing that dungeon again with a level 1 party, I'd want:

    (a) everyone to crank up their defences (17 is too low)

    (b) much more aggressive use of action points for second-winds.

    (c) I'd want a leader specialised in healing (e.g. both their encounter and daily powers as healing powers: for a Warlord this means something like Bastion of Defense and Myrmidon Formation. Yes I know this is 'suboptimal', but if the more 'optimal' choices result in party-wipe, then who is the bigger fool? Healing Strike + Beacon of hope for a Cleric perhaps.)

    (d) Additionally, I'd want at least one, possibly two or more characters built around 'regen' by which I mean those builds which when they hit with X they get temporary hit points, and when they have temporary hit points they receive Y benefit.

    (e) And lastly if there's a Cleric tossing around Sacred flame to give people a little bit of additional 'healing' (or someone else using a similar at-will) then all the better.

It's too much to ask really, but I'd also want my dice to not hate me! ;-)

On the other hand, it could be worse... it could be 3.5 :D I recently played a couple of different low level clerics, and managed to squeeze about 30 points of healing out of about a dozen cure light wounds. Great.. I rolled a 1. You get two hit points back. Again. **FACEPALM**
