    Default [Nexus] The Grid

    One, zero, one, zero.

This would be simple math to the untrained eye. One plus one equals two, and you ignore the zero's, cause everyone ignores the zeros.

But on the grid? Binary is serious business.

The Grid is the life in the circuits, in the servers, in the computers, in anything that can process data. Here is where the transfer of money to between accounts is played out, epic quests played by young gamers brought to dynamic life, and where information is free to all.

While the native inhabitants of The Grid (henceforth referred to as Programs) can be found in any computer, The Grid refers mainly to the major interconnected computing system - also known as the internet. Here, with the right amount of money, or the right amount of code programming know-how (which is cybernetic magic, in the eyes of programs), cyberreality can be shifted, and things brought into existence that previously were imaginary.
Most programs, architecture, and other stuff are based primarily on Tron, although deviations are possible.

It would be false to say that the only manner of interacting with The Grid is through cheeto-dust-entombed keyboards and flickering monitors. Technology is available to transfer your consciousness-or at least, switch it from your body to a digital fascimile. Of course, your fascimile can be killed- but it just takes a few minutes to respawn/make another one. But it ain't so lucky for other programs. So please, be courtious on your next cyberjaunt.

Admins serve in the same capacity as legislative officials, overseeing day-to-day running of their domains. Admins can consist of both programs and fleshies. Admin characters:

Moderators are the law enforcement of The Grid. There is no over-reaching Moderator's Guild- the authority of a moderator depends mostly on hot pursuit laws, and jurisdiction and yadda yadda cop stuff. Moderators are given enhanced data packets for enhanced armor and weapons- again, standard cop stuff. Mods can be both programs and fleshies, and mods also have the power to temporarily make other people mods. Mod characters:

    1. Spoiler all fanservice, and know when to drop the curtain! Whilest certain unsavory actions that can be done in real life with a web cam, that doesn't mean you should bring it up in here.
    2. Please, don't bring the whole system down without prior approval.
    3. No godmodding of other people's characters. Or establishments, without prior approval.
    4. In case I forget something, just look at the FFRP/Nexus FAQ's.
    5. Anyone can be a mod/admin/program that is a Griddite, or a fleshy.
    6. Everything (without purchasing mods to make it look otherwise) looks digitized- most Grid-born objects will look very Tron-like.
    7. Feel free to make your own shops/establishments!

    Cyberdiner Cafè

Mixed in amongst the countless and ever-growing collection of forums hooked up the Grid, the Cyberdiner Cafè is distinguished by being one of the much, much smaller number outfitted for full immersion as well the more simplistic keyboard/monitor interface.

While people using antiquated operating systems will see no more than a normal message board, virtual world users are greeted by a thriving, ever-shifting nightclub. Synth-tunes, music that isn't just heard but experienced with all five senses booms through the bar, a different tune for each person listening. The decor is nonexistent, just blank white walls, chairs, tables, but with easily downloaded tilesets it can be changed to anything from a wild west saloon to futuristic punk-rock club.

The 'drinks' for order include programs designed to simulate the taste and effects of normal booze, but also far more exotic fare like pure synthetic happiness, memories, even tiny virtual worlds in a bottle.

Mostly though, people come here to talk. It is a forum after all.
