"Go down all the stairs, along the long corridor lined by cells and it's the old guard barracks at the end. You likely won't speak to the Mayor himself, though; his secretary will do." The guard shoulders his musket and turns back to staring out across the barricade, hoping for an attack. Guard duty is boring.

Necanth Prison- Train

There's nothing too obvious for a torch, though the lighter and some uniforms could make a fire. There's no poles or rods available to tie the uniform to to make a torch, unless Zefir already has a pole or rod to use.

That's where Freddie will go!

No doubt Cat will go to.

"If the Mayor informs us that we have to speak to the Chancellor to get a visa-visa before we can get a visa I think I'm going to scream."

Seems he finds this rather annoying.

Sadei nods, allowing the little lamps she had created to snuff out before turning her perspective away from human and toward chimera. The Far-spawn's sticky gecko toes makes it simple enough for her to climb along the wall effortlessly!

And not to mention quietly, too.

As the party members sneak along some might notice a faint glinting from a clay jar set atop a wagon. The light is pretty darn dim, though. In the distance the sound of picks biting into stone can be heard.

Well Cat is surely not going to stay here alone.
"There there, Fred. It's just a piece of paper we have to get. We'll be done soon."
She'll pat him on his back if he allows it.
And off to the office! For a visa.

Chris just sort of looks around and stares at the place. His expression is one of surprised confusion.

"...Yeah, you were right Carrie." He says.

Necanth Prison- New London

When they arrive, they'll find a crowd of sixty or seventy people outside the Mayor's Office. Standing in the doorway is an obese man in a wheel chair surrounded by twenty people in four orderly ranks of five, each armed with a different type of energy weapon. Whilst every member of the crowd is armed, there's only a few with ranged weapons of any kind, and most of those are crude muskets. Cannibal Joe is in the forefront of the crowd, and seems to be the closest thing to a leader available for the crowd. Standing next to him is Lucy, stroking Fluffy the axe. "We're fed up with your rule, Mayor. Things 'ave gone down hill fast since you took over. Everyone not in the guard has scurvy 'cos you won't let us trade wi' the elves that grow the fruit. There was a murder last night- some poor sod was thrown from the top cell layer. Them that knows who did it ain't tellin', and that's the fourth murder since you took charge. Plus we've lost fifty two from the raids on the orcs and by the orcs- when we left 'em alone, they left us alone. So what if they're not human? They're stuck here, just as us. They fought the guards, just as us. They're doin' their best to survive, just like us. An' the worst? We ain't attacked the bones since this whole mess started, and we've not found all our dead. They're gettin' stronger on our war wi' the orcs and elves an' we ain't doin' nothin' about it. So stand down now an' no one gets hurt. Or don't, and die wi' your guards around y'." The crowd responds favourably towards that speech.

The mayor has a reply. "I am doing my best to catch the murderers responsible for the deaths. I am also saving you. Yes, you have scurvy. Better scurvy than slaves under the elf's whips. Don't deny it- they charge ridiculous amounts for that fruit. Since I kicked out the elves, we've had a better quality of life. Our work is our own to do with as we want. We're not dependent on the elves for food, we're self-sufficient. As for the missing bodies, Cannibal Joe, I think we all know where they went." The crowd doesn't like that response, it seems. A fight is imminent.

This looks terrible.

Freddie backs off a bit, not at ALL interested in getting involved with the city politics here. Mostly because he's pretty sure the city politics involve a whole lot of murder.

And murder is terrible.

Speaking of murder!

Some is probably going to be happening here soon!

"I don't think we're going to be getting those visas," the Huldra mutters.

Dani giggles cheerfully, still grinning at Sam.
"Ooooh, it's just as neat as it was before!"

[Shifter Hold]

A cry of outrage rises from the very forest itself. The Shifter is on his feet in a heartbeat, face clouded with anger. "How dare you. I offer a safe refuge from the night, I give you directions to this 'Shada', and then you insult my people, my system, my goddess? Out of my Hold. Get. Out!"

A ruffling marks others rising from nearby tents. Nobody is particularly happy. In fact, the only reason they haven't all simply attacked is that they haven't felt her eyes, meaning Marty's comment hadn't attracted her attention. Still, he's been marked as more or less dangerous, and the forest echoes with the sound of shapeshifting, including cracking bones, and soft wooshes of fur.

Marty isn't too happy about this place. Insult! No, this is tyranny! Don't you yearn for freedom? A life free of harsh rules and restrictions? Freedom? Fine. I dont want to take refuge here anyway. You're nothing but slaves to this goddess.

“Is it so difficult to understand that we like it here? Andaress has taken away war and famine! The Holds used to constantly fight before her.” And yet, if they speak out against her they all die. “We don't tolerate blasphemers here. You're going to get all of us killed.”

His skin turns green, splits, and forms into hardened scales as he begins his own morph. A draconic morph. “Last chance to leave my Hold, or need I escort you out? We have freedom here, but if you don't shut up, we won't get to enjoy it for very long.”

Marty backs down and frowns. No....I....fine. You're happy then. Fine....I will leave. Please....where do you think Shada went? I'll never come back here....I just need to find Shada.

She agrees with the whole idea of working together with everyone against the guards though.
In a place like this, fighting each other while also dealing with a common enemy is stupid.

The golem leads them to a table; it pulls their chairs out for them as well.
Carrie smiles as menus materialize at their places.
"Don't worry, Sam. They wouldn't dare hurt any of us, since some gods take offense easily and reply with fireballs."

Chris looks a bit surprised as Carrie mentions other gods being present.

"...Wait, other deities are here? Does this place commonly cater to divine beings? Is there anything I should be doing, or...?"

"Yes, there is!" Dani chirps, plopping into her seat with a giggle. "You should be of the sitting so that you can be of the eating!"

Chris sighs a bit. "Yeah, I probably should at that." Chris then sits down, glancing at the menu before him.

The menu is laden with rich and sumptuous dishes, some of them rather odd and otherworldly.

A gunshot rings out, and one of the guards falls over dead. "Traitors! Guards, kill them all!" The guards lower their weapons, but before too many shots go off the crowd has charged, Cannibal Joe at its head and wielding a sharpened rib in each hand. The fight's surprisingly quiet; there's very little shouting or war cries. These are murderers, not soldiers- they work best in silence. At least, there's not much sound except for the moans of dying men and the sounds of a young girl crying loudly.

Zefir has no pole and won't take uniforms to burn. he will use his elemental controll to crate a fire. He will hold it next to the lighter without using it.

Necanth Prison- Train --> Cavern

The cavern beyond the crack in the wall is very large, surprisingly so in fact. The floor has many stalagmites reaching up towards the stalactites hanging from the ceiling. A path has been hacked through the stalagmites; they have been smashed out of the way by pickaxe and hammer, the shattered stone piled up against the sides of the road.

Freddie leans over to Cat and whispers, "Let's go tell the guards at the gate about this fight. Then slip out when they leave."

Let the crazy murderer people go ahead and kill each other.

In the mean time?

FLEEE!

Freddie will totally abscond the hell out of there!

Unless someone stops him of course.

Hopefully no one will stop him.

That would be terrible.

Cat will nod and follow Freddy as he runs for the gate.
If they make it to the gate Cat will run up to the guards.

"Guards, there's a huge fight going on outside the Major's office! The people are rebelling and everyone's killing each other!"

"Really? Good. It's about time. Who's the rebel leader, did you see?" The guards really don't care. It's there job to stop people getting in or leaving, not stopping fights elsewhere. Besides, Cannibal Joe is a guard- he'd wait for sympathetic guards to be posted elsewhere to prevent reinforcements.

I'm somewhat surprised they don't seem to care about Lucy crying, but never mind.

These people are all nuts and Freddie just wants to get out of here so they can continue their quest! Well. Less of a quest and more just trying to find a way to get out.

Fredrick signs at that question.

"Cannibal Joe," he replies. "And since we obviously can't get a visa at the moment can you please just let us out?"

Seriously.

Given that they recently showed up it shouldn't be too hard to remember them.

Cat just wants to go home.

"Yes, can we please go? We just want to get a map at the tavern."

"Sure, leave. I'm off over there to see if he needs help. You coming, guys?" The other guards nod and follow him away.

Looks like it's free to leave now.

Also, it's not too important, anyway. She broke Fluffy on somebody's skull.
