Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
A fast, brutal, sci-fi card game that blends the randomness of dice and cards with individual skill and tactical might.

Overview

Spoiler
Here we are at PAX East 2012, with a little overview of what Hull Breach is:
Hull Breach is a tactical and strategic sci-fi card game that pulls elements from the worlds of wargaming, miniatures games, and real-world combat.
Players assume command of a space station in their corner of the galaxy and fight their opponents for dominance of their sector. You'll manage an economy, field a fleet of warship, and command companies of Marines. Use clever tactical options and special game-changing events to destroy everyone who stands in your way
Hull Breach is a game for two or more players and uses both cards and dice. A 1v1 game might be over in 15 minutes, but the more players you add, the longer and more complex the game becomes!Spoiler
Hull Breach Corporate Wars comes in a box set with three fully-playable decks, dice, tokens, a rulebook and fiction supplement - buy the box set and you're ready to roll! However - even though this isn't a CCG, you can tear down your deck and reassemble it with any number of combinations of cards that you can think of!
We've already brought an Alpha version of our game to market in New England, proving that the concept works and people are hungry for more. We've taken fan feedback gathered during that run (rules, tweaks, art, packaging, and more) and applied it to our next phase - Corporate Wars! It's bigger, better and shinier than ever before, and ready for a nationwide release! The goal of the game is to capture or destroy your enemy's space station and defend your own. How exactly you choose to do that is up to you, but you'll be able to leverage many different types of cards towards that end.
Each Commander starts the game with a space station in play. From there, you draw cards, manage your per-turn income, and balance your offensive and defensive production against that of your opponents. To do this, you'll draw up to five cards every turn and tally up your per-turn economic gain, which depends on how you configure your station. Are you a financial powerhouse, or do you focus on military strength at your station?
After that, you'll be able to deploy ships, Marines, and equipment that modifies them to bolster your forces.
You can then launch your fleet across the stars at your opponent - once your forces arrive in his sector of space you have two main methods of destroying him: use your Marines to board and seize his ships and station, or use your raw firepower to turn those same ships and station into twisted wrecks!
There are many classes of ships, ranging from tiny drones to enormous capital ships, each with its own strengths and weaknesses - some excel at confronting enemies head-on while others are relied on to perform vital support tasks in combat.
When you're not slinging dice and destroying ships like a pro, you can also use slightly more devious methods to defeat your enemies! Powerful Event and Tactic cards can tip the balance of power dramatically, either by manipulating economies and production or implementing clever battle strategies to influence combat results.
But Hull Breach! strategy goes beyond the cards and the dice. Your own command abilities will factor significantly into your success or failure! Knowing when to strike, what to strike, and how to strike are the marks of a truly great Commander.
Don't take our word for it; here's a great video review by the good folks at Skip the Rules!Last edited by LibraryOgre; 2013-03-03 at 08:56 PM.

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
I missed the kickstarter for The Banner Saga.
Well, at least I snagged Castle Story. And when the new update comes out and my new computer arrives... I will be playing the prototype (they decided that the beta backers had waited long enough)!Last edited by Hiro Protagonest; 2013-02-20 at 04:05 PM.

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
Factions* goes free to play on Monday, so you can still get in on some viking fun.
Banner Saga Factions is a multiplayer-only component of Banner Saga - you build a team of hardcore vikings from a bunch of classes and then fight with other players for renown, but there's no story beyond a (really awesome) intro sequence.

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
Yeah, I know what Factions is. I'll probably play.
I want to play the single-player, though. That bit in the trailer where the girl was asking "what will happen?" and there are a few different answers? That looks like gameplay. King of Dragon Pass gameplay.
Of course, it also looks sorta like Bioware dialogue, but whatever. In my mind, they're bringing back the event system!Last edited by Hiro Protagonest; 2013-02-20 at 06:32 PM.

Single-player is slated for release late this year or early next. There's a very detailed update about the single player portion of the Banner Saga.

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
Channel A--a party game where Apples to Apples runs smack-dab into crazy anime concepts...
- A sentai series about magical girls called Tokyo Wars Blue 120%
- A series about steampunk dolls called Shining Custom Valkyrie S
- A show about blazing spirit and supernatural battles called Key Sword Darkness Story
Well, you get the idea. Out of 10 cards, throw down up to four Title Cards to make the most awesome/ludicrous/memorable title ever...and then come up with a brief series pitch. Group-vote for the best series!
Seems like a simple but brilliant combination.

Banner Saga Factions going public tomorrow! For everyone not backing it in the Kickstarter, this is your chance to get in on some sweet viking combat.
Since BSF isn't Kickstarter anymore, really, we should make a thread.

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
Big news for the Torn Armor project!
"Reaper Miniatures has given us the greenlight to add their Clockwork Dragon as a Torn Armor unit; complete with unit card. When we hit 60k, we'll even create a new map set and special scenario. Of course, this gives us an excuse to introduce the "flying units" and "breath weapon" rules =D
The best part of this? The first 500 backers to pledge $75 or more (the game or any combination of add-ons and pledge levels) gets the Clockwork Dragon FOR FREE with no extra shipping."
Talk about a collaboration! =D

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
WOW! Even MORE news from Torn Armor!
There is still about 24 hours to go for the current Battle for An Gearesdan: REFER A FRIEND competition.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...rn-armor/posts
HUGE NEWS!
The two HUGE miniature units (the War Elephant and the Behemoth Kerrosus) have been UNLOCKED! That's right, they have unlocked early and are now available as add-ons on the Torn Armor Kickstarter!
MORE GREAT NEWS!
Since the Torn World is now collaborating with Reaper Miniatures and there is that special offer of the Clockwork Dragon, it is now revealed that it will be a mercenary unit for the Torn Armor game, meaning that either side can use it!(The mini will come complete with its own unique unit stat card).

Very cool!

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
This isn't entirely the place for it - but regardless, I'd like to point to a project I'm enthusiastic about.
Mode7 made Frozen Synapse, a neat and wonderful little turn-based shooter/tactical thingy that I've spent countless hours on.
They are making a new game called Frozen Endzone, using a similar interface (but better graphics) for a turn-based robot american football/tactical thingy that I think looks very promising.
It isn't on kickstarter tho (far as I know) but on Steam greenlight. So ... I don't think I can link to it, but if you have Steam, go check it out.
Go ahead and Greenlight it too - I'll go out on a limb and promise it will be fun =)

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
I don't know anything about it, but here is the link for Frozen Endzone
Steam uses a basic web interface so you can get to (almost) everything Steam through another browser too. You can get the URL by right clicking on the background and selecting Copy Page URL.

Re: Kickstarter Thread I: Cash for The Cash God
Here's another reminder for Channel A! It's got a week left to raise its goal. Channel A is a party game where players mash together elements to make ludicrous, awesome, or ludicrously awesome anime titles...and then invent a description for the series, in the hopes of impressing the other players.
Quick, lightweight, and a fun, geeky party game.
