She says, and I don't feel like going into detail other than saying "it's very very big." so I'm just going to assume they go through the whole thing offscreen.

Lone Star grinned wickedly. Gimme a few minutes to set up a table. I'm not sure which army I want to use yet...

He proceeded to set up a snowy and icy battlefield with a temple on one side, in neither player's deployment zone. The battlefield was littered with debris and ice chunks that counted as difficult terrain (which would slow down her earth ponies and unicorns, though not her Pegasi), but the upside was that line of sight was so hectic that a ranged list was going to be in serious trouble.

If i use Eldeer, I could blunt her speed advantage... but that would be jerkish. I could use demons, but like I told her, that could end badly quickly... Maybe a Descent of Angels... or Space Dragons. Shooty, but in a cool way... and close range... Paranids? Nah, Icy did that one already... besides, all i got for them is a Parasprite list. That's just cruel.

You'll be fighting a group of renegade space dragons. He said with finality as he grinned and moved away from the table. There's a codex right there for list building, or you can use one of the lists I keep in that folder with the figure box. We'll go... 800 points. Keep it small. Skirmish between scout forces, at best.

I'll go ahead and use a premade list - take your time. He winked and flicked his tail on her flank. If you want to~

He winces briefly at the reference to the old slave trade, but gets over it and nods. "I think that's it. I'll get to work on that contact and be back before sundown. I figure it'll take her...a day? To get here, though. In the meantime, at least it's quiet." Brief aside glance.

Authentic, unreadable, doctor chicken-scratch. "Give that to whoever's on-call tonight. I'll leave another with the secretary. That should get you in again without too much hassle."

(Apparently not. They're masters of hit-and-run attacks, the White Scars. My Space Marine lore might be a little rusty, so I might blunder into things, just saying. I was far more interested in Imperial Guard fluff. )

"Looks like most of these are made for larger armies. Looks like I'm stuck with this. Hmm... a few unicorns, all pegasi... this would do nicely."

Balboa didn't give a fart, he was rather comfortable in his home and power position to do stuff like that when he had guests over. Just not during actual business stuff, that's when he put his toys away. No business stuff was going on or meant to go on during lunch time at his place. After, not during lunch would business shenanigans have occurred.

Almost every unit was equipped with some kind of flamer weapon, though he did have one equipped entirely with plasma cannons in reserve. About half of the list was full of unicorns, while the other half was earth ponies. He'd foregone pegasi and vehicles entirely. His unicorn commander was a special character unit with a teleport ability as well as a heavy twin-linked flamer.

Normally we roll and the person who wins gets to decide this, but... He shrugged and moved to rub her shoulders. You're new to this (technically). Who do you want to deploy first? Keep in mind they get first turn.

He continued to massage her as he looked over the map, thinking where he would deploy. The Rhino was going to be a minor problem - he hadn't given it any weaponry but only two of his squads (the plasma cannon in and one group of earth ponies with meltas) both of whom were reserve, had any real chance of popping it, and if it exploded then...

He moved to the table and placed most of his mareines near the center of the board, grouped together to await the enemy attack. His unicorn commander went with the earth ponies with meltas in reserve, and devastators also waited in reserve.

Whoever has the temple at the end of the game wins. He grinned slyly at his fillyfriend and kissed her horn. Your turn first...

Commander Jewel didn't like what she was hearing from her sergeants below. Scanners had picked up chatter from a group of Rainbow Scar mareines. She may be a renegade but she still with the Princess of Ponykind, and did not relish fighting loyal servants of her will. However, the cultists of this temple had captured several of her initiates and taken them off-world, and she intended to get them back if at all possible. She just needed the temple's records.

She had ordered her mares to get together and stay together - Rainbow Scars were well known for hit-and-run tactics... though admittedly the 'run' part only came after the enemy had been killed quite thoroughly. Splitting up would just make their deaths easier.

Keep flamers primed and ready. She instructed. The Princess is with us, and Twilight is with us. We will not fail.

She gestured to the mareines behind her. Suit up, ladies. We might have to deploy early.

On the Surface

The Mareines slowly slogged through the icy terrain, moving towards the temple and keeping their eyes peeled. The enemy had not yet shown themselves, but they were not so foolish as to think they'd have ample warning.

He got a bit more awkward, he was all the time seeing her, not looking at her, it just makes him blush a bit and rub his head with his right forehoof.
"Uhh....I guess I'm off then, could pass by the afternoon to check if he's [Silent] awake so I can tell the captain....Uh- I'moffthen!...bye!"
He walks out of the room, as he's outside he just whispers to himself "what the hay is wrong with me?"

Now that Orzel has two seconds or sanity, Rainbow finally slides out the hovertank. Two boltsare varied in her mouth as she trots into the open bay of the hangar with an empty crossbow. Her lips are too busy to speak to Sandy so she only gives him mumbles.
