Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Yeah, the confrontation with NO changed him. He's set his priorities higher...

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
There is no Baghdad. There is only...
The Nexus.SpoilerThis is the thief who likes to hoard,
That loves the bard with the puppet Lord
That admires the fighter with the green-hilted sword,
That employs the Wizard, whose bird is ignored,
That has the gender unexplored
That intrigues the Halfling, usually bored,
That slew a mountain of the goblin horde,
That follows the cleric,
That serves the lich,
That seeks the gate,
That guards the snarl,
That lives in the prison the gods built.
guess what I was gone but now I'm back

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Uh...no. He's a halfling "businessman." Not really a science guy, that'd be Magtok, he just makes the science people do stuff for him.

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Well, he still controls the stuff. The spirit engine, the drills, that whole operation. He just didn't build it or design it. His mysterious "friend" gave him the plans.

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
O.o That might be the oddest question I have ever been asked, and yes they are.
Technicallyt, Marciano controls stuff. He's a control-freak, greedy as Midas (In Ilpholin's words too.), and a cruel pyshopath. Not a genius though, he's harnessed by higher creatures. Though....honestly a snail could be a higher creature then Marciano...the snail would probably have better hygiene too.

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Yup, he's no Moriarty either. Still a nasty guy to fight. What with his various gizmos, Grantaire, and his skills at getting away from a fight and disappearing for weeks. He has more than a few interesting machines he carries around with him. Er...Grantaire carries.

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Oh! At the moment he's being attacked by a thief, I have to wait for Lazorath before my next action.
Marciano's plan is rather screwy....if all goes right hi splan will make himself possibly the richest man in the Nexus, if it fails....he'll have wasted a HUGE amount of his ill-gotten gold on it. His spirit engine is a complex device by itself...

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
This Memorial Day weekend was surprisingly eventful!
Anyway, I'm not quite back yet because I'm studying for finals. I'll pop in here and there with a post or two, but 's probably best to continue to forge ahead in any plots I'm involved in without me if I'm absent for a time. Between my rigorous finals prep and meticulously packing everything my family owns up to enable a move back down to California, I'm not sure how often I'll be online for the next two weeks. By next Friday, if not sooner, things should cool off considerably, and my schedule will be liberated for the all too short Summer season!
In regards to the ongoing discussion, I do have a hunch that Marciano's plan will backfire big time with his soul-sucking engine gaining sapience or sentience and retaliating against him for harnessing it to do his bidding. That or someone is going to kick him in the seat of the pants for ruining the Nexus's scenic landscape in general. Plus, I'm sure that whole "powered by souls" detail is going to aggravate a legion of do-gooders and a few hellions to boot, if info about the machine's fueling system is leaked, but that idea is dubious at best, seeing as many of the neutral/good characters I've been seeing out and about as of late seem to be fairly lackadaisical about intervening in any soul-nomming that goes on. On the other hand, many of the "evil" characters I've read of here are strongly polarized one way or the other on the topic.
Also, I recently noticed the return of a few notable names to the forum. Welcome back, guys! And hail all newcomers as well.

Wait, did you start this entire project without even finishing negotiations in AMEN that's in direct relation to it? Seriously?

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
As of yet, there is no solid deal at all. Marciano only now got around to even mentioning a drill, so Ilpholin is extremely wary of him.

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Even if it is, Ilpholin would need to assign people to it and she might have her own location in mind for where she wants it to happen. It's probably best that you remove that post and save the intro text until (and if) a deal actually occurs.
I'm feeling pretty poorly lately, so here are some ferrets wearing sweaters:

Re: [Nexus] OoC XXXI
Here's a backup, without pictures. Just the text. I have the pictures too, but the file would be a lot bigger since I'm not going to filter out just the ones that go with this particular thread.
I managed to save some 298 threads before the big cleaning they did. It's taking up a LOT of space, and I haven't found a good way to share it with others yet. Would need to find some sort of file storing service that allows huge files, probably, but I'm not even sure I'm allowed to share the full backup since it's technically a copy of Rich's site.
I'll remove the above file eventually, so download it now if you want it.
