"Indoctrination of the young into bronydom" update: Dex Jr thinks Pinkie Pie is hilarious. He was a little unsettled last week, so I watched "Baby Cakes" with him to give his mother a break. Previously when watching MLP with me he would just stare at the screen for a while, presumably at the bright colours and movement. However, while watching this episode, he surprised me by giggling like a maniac on at least three occassions when there was a close-up of Pinkie.

Also, while my wife & I were watching S1E24-26, we realised that he loves (and recognizes) the music in the opening sequence & closing credits. In fact, when the closing credits were playing he seemed rather confused that the music was playing but the screen was black instead of the bright colours he was expecting.

Also also: Dex Jr is Pound Cake. Seriously, if I could sew I'd make him a one-suit with little pegasus wings and a tail, and he'd be the youngest Pony cosplayer ever.

I like Cadance and Twilight Sparkle... (mostly because Twi's a lot like me in ways).

Actually, here's a good questions: which pony do you think is the most like you?

Oh, since we're proposing thread locations, I have this one perfectly acceptable pocket universe, currently disused and, for all intents and purposes, a perfect copy of the Milky Way galactic neighborhood, somewhere down the 1980's Prime timeline. I have/had this neat facility up in the Horsehead Nebula, finest recreation spot you could think of, accommodations of any style from early Victorian to late 3020's trans-spatial surrealism (I think I even got a few natural stone caves and hovels, just in case), any form of entertainment you can think of (literally)... the works, in other words.

(Though when it was last in use, it might have been the pocket-verse equivalent of a danger room/meta-playground. I'm not sure what state I left it in... might have a few extra galaxy-devouring menaces and a few ravenous alien superfleets floating around, but should be safe. Probably. For some time.)

And as far as "Who is best pony" goes... I think you all know my answer. But I'll provide it regardless.

I've had that happen to me. A decade ago the company I worked for did a movie get-together within an unused section of the call center. So I'm sitting among a lot of coworkers I never formally met yet watching the movie Office Space.
A couple weeks later I met one of those coworkers elsewhere and formally introduced myself. Turns out we had much in common.

So... not too weird.
Especially when compared to episodes like The Cutie Mark Chronicles.

Which pony is most like me, huh?

When I first started watching, I expected it to be Twilight Sparkle. But it rapidly became clear that she doesn't care about books nearly as much as about the knowledge they contain. (Seriously, just look at how often she just drops books, or otherwise allows/causes them to end up sprawled all over the place, and doesn't panic and try to save their spines even a little.)

"Which Pony Are You" tests, when I'm not answering through my Fluttershy headvoice, tend to say Applejack. But that's not entirely accurate; it's more that Applejack is in many ways my ideal.

That's a tough one. I recognize bits of myself in most of the mane six, so I suppose I'd have to narrow it down by which dominant traits we share. I certainly have a good dose of Applejack. Watching her and RP-ing as a pony who shares her work ethic and "I'll do it myself" attitude, I'm noticing a ton of parallels. Not for the same reasons, but they're still there.

Twilight...I really shouldn't have to explain much. We're both academic types, we both squee with joy when we hear of something cool and sciencey/magic-y, and we've both got the social grace of a greased polar bear.

I share Fluttershy's introverted nature, though not quite to her level. I don't anger easily, I tend to clam up around new people, and I've got a good sense of compassion. That's about the best way I can put it without sounding completely self-righteous.

So I guess if I had to pick, I'd say I was closest to Twilight, with AJ and Fluttershy tied for second.

Rarity is best pony and I will hear no arguments to the contrary. Rainbow Dash is other best pony. Celestia is other other best pony. Other ponies are not best ponies and I can't really rank them. I guess Twilight and Pinkie are slightly more best than the rest.

Pinkie and Twilight are probably the two ponies I can most identify with.

Twilight, no contest. I'm more calm and less OCD than she is, but only through learned stoicism. I otherwise see her as myself more or less.

That said, I think there are times that I can identify traits of all the mane 6. Real people are complex, and there are times that I've been shy, highly competitive, nutty and silly, down to earth, or fabulous.

And now to see if I can confirm my 'Anarion lives in Australia' suspicion.
