Hmm, based on the pictures you posted later, I'm thinking it is the mane and that you like long blonde hair. Also her snarkiness from time to time and ability to put on a no-nonsense face perhaps. But especially the long flowing blonde hair.

MSE (eventually) picked it up - I'm not sure it was actually doing anything, but it's proving sodding hard to get rid of.

Even googling didn't help, as the solutions were either "buy this software" or "manually delete these files" (which I couldn'd find anywhere on my machine...) All the apps I found didn't seem to pick the virus up... MSE at least told me where these things were popping back up every few minutes, so after some effort in finding out how to get into the windows installer folder, I manually deleted those files.

No idea if that's going to have worked, but gotta keep trying... (I half-suspect that MSE might just be picking up the remnants of the virus or something, since I can't seem to find the virus doing anything. At least I hope so, anyway.)

Still waiting for the last bits of faff to round up, or the other boot to drop...

Oh, if I find the guy that designed that, infinite-agony-intergalactic space/time-pebble drifting-for eternity-spirit-binding's too good for 'em!

Malwarebytes, is, ironically, running a check as we speak. (It's found something, anyroad.) Apparently I've "lucked" (sic) out in that they appear to be offering a trail run for the moment, so hopefully that should enable me to knobble the nasty without having to fork out £30. I'm planning to leave it on for a day or few, or as long as this trial lasts, at any rate.

Give it credit, it's done the sweep quicker than the last time I had MSE do a full scan (which took five hours! Mind you, this virus may have been fully active at the time, and slow-down is one of it's symptoms.)

Frag knows where the virus came from. I tend to visit a fair amount of sites (well, mostly here, EQD, TGWTG and wiki and such)... Let me put it discretely - I am not the only person who uses this computer, and because I use the History section of the Favourites as my primary shortcuts, I am aware that some of the other sites visited occasionally are of a more...dubious nature, and it may have come from there. But who knows?



Changing the subject, everypony should go pounce on SiuiS, because as he's just said in the ME thread, that nasty he did to his fingers is a lot more serious than it looked (an' it looked pretty dire); and as I'm at a loss to suggest what else to do for him, having ponythread group-tackle-glomp him seems like at least a starter.



Changing the subject even further, Strayvian Dominion Legions are now painted after three week's graft, so I may post Humorous Pictures With Strayvians and Ponies tomorrow, as a special...treat? Curse? Thing That Is Happening? with SiuiS in mind.

(For those of you new to the thread, it has become my tradition to take Humorous Pony Pictures when I go to wargames conventions, so this is like a special bonus extra. Or penalty extra, depending on which way you like it...)
