Bass practice is paying off. I have been able to play all the basic "marching band" songs that guitarists learn to play as beginners. I've moved onto practicing (privately) songs like Thunderstruck, T.N.T., and Another One Bites the Dust (learned it an hour ago, and I can already play it very nicely).

This is turning out to be a good investment.

I got VAC banned in COD: Ghosts for using an FOV changer.

    Happens all the time.

On a similar note, I've once conquered pretty much entire Central and South America as Sweden once in Europa Universalis. And nuked Moscow as the same in Hearts of Iron II. I've heard from dad that the original Europa Universalis (the board game, that is) is more realistic: you conquer a region with the wrong religion and suddenly you're all up to your neck in various revolts. Expanding your territory is apparently nigh impossible.

No, I think I'll just stick to making up music videos in my head for songs I hear (and like). I have a fair share of them now and it's a shame that I don't possess any animation software to realise them with. Especially the latest one (for Life in Technicolor II, and it's kind of silly that I haven't come up with it until now, given that that song has been my favourite for quite a long time), because it's quite perfectly suited for being animated in Flash (or any equivalent thereof), and possibly also awesome.

Well. I like to listen to music more than I like to make music. My own music kinda sucks when compared to real musicians, but yeah, I share your view.

Of course, when I still lived at home, I used to get woken up Saturday mornings by my mum playing Rachmaninov or something. The joys of having a music teacher for a parent, heh.

That reminds me, I had a dream the other night where I was playing the lute. Hmm. My dad used to play the mandolin. Maybe he can teach me.

I find it crap. (As one can see by the influx of the word in this post.) Not interesting really, it just reminds me of the terrible dubstep remixes and taking it to a whole new level of wrong.

It's very much like German, but I just know I'd get the pronunciation wrong.
However, don't assume I know German because I haven't studied it for six years and I'm extremely rusty at it and didn't learn very much because I was thirteen at the time.

Of the road signs, I actually liked the "SIDEWALK ENDS" one best (it might be my overall favourite as well). I mean, there tends to be some explanation behind behind a seemingly reduntant sign, but in that case, I just think someone had a little too much money and nothing to do with it. Either that, or insanity.

Knowing a Germanic (and preferably Scandinavic) language helps a lot in understanding Old English. I guess it must be the easiest to those who can speak Icelandic, as that's the closest you'll get to the old Norse language that influenced much of the English at that time.

Not to be a killjoy, but...

"This is the other door" - That is a double door, a sign that says "Use other door" in that position may confuse people because many people assume (and quite legitimately so, I know I would) that the first sign refers to not using the entire double door.

"Sidewalk ends" - It may seem obvious, but when you are riding on a bike or other device, it is useful to have quite a bit of warning. Especially when, as is the situation in that case, the sidewalk not only ends, but the ground becomes a slope that is no longer suitable for travel.

"Open box before eating pizza" - This one is obviously a joke...

"No signs" - Obvious paradox aside, this one is quite legitimate.

"Water on road during rain" - While it may seem obvious, I'm guessing that particular part of the road accumulates much more water during rain than normal.

"Unlock door before entering balcony" - If the door is locked, obviously it needs to be unlocked. But that is not what this sign is for, it's to tell people that the door remains locked and remind them that they need to unlock it.

"This property is not for sale" - Guess it was in a very desired area and they got sick of all the requests.

Yes, they're very conservative when it comes to their language, and generally chose to make up their own words rather than importing them. I guess the best moment of sudden realisation for me when it comes to the Icelandic language and language was when I at an intermediate landing in Reykavik realised that the Icelandic word for "arrival" has an inherently positive tone to it, while their word for "departure" likewise has an inherently negative tone. I suppose that's what living on a scarcely populated island will do to the language...

It's safer to put a sign up in case someone merely tries to swerve around the signs and continue on the non existence footpath.

But because it's that isolated, no one even bothered invading it. It didn't hold any strategic value at all until WWII, when the USA used it for intermediate landings. Then they realised that hot springs make for cheap electricity, so it's become a home of many aluminium industries as well.
