Difficult decisions. While I originally considered that Ann was better as a friend than a wife, I think that last scene may well have changed my opinions on her.

Karen and Fox have such similar lives, and the strong independent personality seems to work well, but I'm not so sure that she's my favourite.

Placing my vote, I should add, was pretty hard, since it ended up being a situation where so much depended on it...
And because, until earlier today, I wasn't certain.

Maria's love confession is the best of all love confessions (well, best unless you want comedy. Then Ann wins so hard it hurts), and the one I'd most like to write a series of scenes around.
Had Maria won, I'd have been very happy to write the scene I had in my head for that.

But...
I feel like Elli's stuff in Spring of Year 2 is really interesting, and I wanted to treat it thoroughly; more thoroughly than I felt I could if Fox was 'with' someone else. I may regret it later, since it's going to be hard to do... But I'd regret not letting myself have the chance. And because I generally find that if I need Fox to tell me something about himself in my head, I pair him with Elli for an imaginary scene...
Which means that I also tend to picture a lot of late-game, post-marriage scenes as being with someone like Elli, more than with someone like Maria. She just seems to mesh well with stuff in my head. She feels like a character better suited to being Fox's wife, even if she's maybe not as so gosh-darn soul-suckingly sweet about her feelings in her confession as Maria is. Maria's probably the better 'girlfriend,' I think. Aaahhh, what a tangled web.

I know you've said you're not doing this, but I do want to remind you that while there are normally 6 possible marriage options (5 girls, the bachelor life), and you need to choose one, with the power of save states and narrative you can show all six. Actually, with the power of save states and narrative, there are actually 32 (2^5) possible endings.

That is...quite a lot to ask of one LPer...especially when all of this is being tied together by a narrative.

Dropping in 32 alternate endings would...sort of break that narrative apart.
