Arriving at the right hand turret just before the second Sabre lifts off, Volsung lifts himself up into the firing area and begins adjusting it to his liking, the ammo counter and targeting reticule blooming into life on his HUD. "Rho, can you get me a lock on any of the Seraphs or the corvette?"
"Not right now, but give me about six seconds and one should be in range."
"Right then, begin charging the Moddey Dhoo!"

I'm holding my turn, since everything looks to be just out of range.

"Alright, let's get this show ship shape!" And with that, Val pulls Saber One out into the vastness of space, keeping it direct she simply pilots the vehicle straight at the enemy. She didn't quite have the hand for combat manuevers.

The Seraphs all begin to climb space-ward towards your team, some of them banking in a spiral in order to turn around. The tension was palpable as the edge of battle drew nearer with the closing distance of the enemy ships.

[Erik Vale]

Argyle speaks very simply.
"Targets still beyond range. Gnomere, have you and Valkyrie finished the deck plans this unit has requested?"
"Soon."

[Erasmas]

X666 dials in the controls of the his turret, making minor adjustments here and there to fit his preferences. As the nav points appeared, eight for the Seraphs and two for the allied Sabre fighters, he started whirring the gun into rotation so that it was plenty warmed up.

"Ivory 6; in position."

[Thump]

"None of them are in range. Hold your fire, and release it on my go."

Ceara gives a small smile, and types out the appropriate command on the console. She shifts slightly in her seat with excitement.

C'mon, you sons of bitches, just a little bit closer...

[Erasmas]

Valen walked over to where Jason was standing and looked over the digital representation of the looming battle. After a moment, he turned back to the Spartan piloting the Dawn Evader.

"Alright, Ivory 1, bring us in range. I want to be able to provide some support for our birds. Sabres, stay in tight formation until you need to break away for evasive maneuvers. These Seraphs' do have shields and they sport both plasma turrets and a plasma bomb. Watch yourselves and keep an eye out for each other, if you can."

[moomoo]

Yes sir.
Anex radios in as he moves to the same depth as Sabre 1 to close the formation.

Silently, James acknowledges the order from the Major and edges the Dawn Evader closer.

[DoctorFaust]

Volsung leans back in the gunners chair, putting a point on each word as he begins talking to his AI. "Rho, you said you could get me a targeting lock, so what the h^ll is going on?"
"The damn seraphs aren't moving fast enough, is what. You just don't get covenant like you used to."

[Erasmas]

Jason stared hard at the holographic display, as if it would reveal some sort of ancient secrets that would lead them all to victory, buried somewhere in its blue read-outs of digital visualization. The brilliantly glowing forms of the two advancing forces reflected crisply in the unmarred surface of his silver visor.

[Erasmas]

Valeria, remembering the Sabre's boost capabilities, hits the thrusters and burns them hot. As her ship rockets forward towards the approaching Seraphs, the targeting computers come alive for the Medusa-class missiles that the UNSC fighters were sporting.

Valkyrie broadcasts, "Missiles are online; you may fire when ready!"

You all also have noticed that the purple streams trailing behind the Seraphs have intensified suddenly, almost turning white at their centers as they too pick up speed.

[Thump]

"First shots against the Covies, coming right up!"

Ceara then hits the button, and four massive missiles fly out of one side of the Sabre, right towards a clumsy pilot.

C'mon...

[Erasmas]

The four projectiles streak silently across the black expanse between Sabre 2 and Seraph 3, leaving tightly spiraled trails of thin smoke to slowly dissipate behind them. In rapid succession, they hit, each finding its target before the impact of the first explosion sends the spacecraft off-course. The bluish-purple energy of the Covenant vessel crackling as they are depleted just before the fourth and final missile slams home. You see a small amount of purple hull break free and begin to drift away as wisps of smoke start to emit from the area hit by Ceara's barrage.

Good hit! Good hit! Now keep your eyes open, there's porbably going to be a return volley!

[Erik Vale]

"Compound Volley on Tango Seraph 3 Over."

And with that, Argyle sends two missiles at Seraph 3.
"Away clean."

[Erasmas]

Argyle fires two missiles at the target, one of which hits its mark and the second barely sails past! The Seraph reeled and smoke and plasma discharge could now be seen trailing from the purple fighter as it continued to limp forward.

[Creed]

Dante taps his fingers nervously on the edge of the gunner's chair, watching the battle take place ahead of him. Without a target within effective range of the guns, he had little to do aside from watching his comrades have all the fun.

[Erasmas]

The Seraphs press the advance, still boosting their way closer to the Sabres despite the barrage of missiles being loosed in their direction. The one that had been damaged so far, the one marked as tango 3, cut the boost of his fighter, however, and instead fired a glowing green comet-like projectile headed straight for Anex & Ceara's starship! With skill, Spartan 544 pulls into an aileron roll, spiraling out of the way of the incoming strike.

[Erasmas]

"Good hits, Spartans... keep those groupings tight!"

Valen paced back and forth between watching over the shoulder of James at the piloting controls and watching over the shoulder of Jason and the battle read-out. His anxiety was clear to anyone who could see him by his body language; it was obvious that he didn't like not being in the fight himself.

"You are in range and they are weapons-hot! Let's get this done, ladies and gentlemen... everyone goes home today."

JAmes continues to move the Dawn forward

Sir Mac round is hot. Shall I fire at the corvette?

[Erasmas]

Valen thinks momentarily before he answers.

"Valkyrie... I need a full scan of that Corvette, ASAP."

"Aye, sir."

V21 then walks over to James and puts his hand on the back of the Sergeant's chair.

"No. Let's wait on the scan. With all of that damage, I would be surprised if she's still operational."

[moomoo]

Anex easily evades the incoming missiles.
I saw them coming from miles away!
he mutters while lowering himself to the same depth as Sabre 2.

Valeria levels out and continues to lay on the boost, bringing her Sabre within range for all guns.

In addition, Seraphs 1, 6, and 8 likewise continue to boost forward and lessen the distance between your two groups.

[Thump]

"Good hits, T97. Another volley is ready and waiting on your go."

"Got it, Mack. That one is dead in space."

With this, Ceara thumbs the trigger twice more; The first volley launches, however, the second...

"You do have to reload, you know. It's not like the simulators."

Sigh.

[Erasmas]

Ceara's barrage rips through space once more, striking Tango 3 squarely. The Seraph goes critical, exploding into a silent cloud of fire, plasma, and fragments.

"Good hit, Ivory Three! Keep it up."

[Erasmas]

Argyle likewise sends a compliment of missile fire towards the Covenant fleet, targeting the leading Seraph. His Medusas slam into Tango 8 one right after the other, dropping the shields to nothing. Now smoke could now be seen coming from this fighter as well!

Two of the purple vessels fire their plasma bombs at Sabre 1, the first of which hits and the second soars harmlessly by. The fighter's shields crackle, but are still holding at 86% capacity.

"Sabre 1, pull up on that boost... you're leaving Sabre 2 and us too far behind to cover your @$$.", Valen called out. "You're so far out that you're the only target their interested in and it'll end up getting yourself a one-way ticket to the Cold Black!"

Onyx One paced like a trapped mother bear watching her cubs come to harm and helpless to do anything about it.

If someone would have been close enough to Anex, he would have heard something like:
mumble, mumble... downed one, mumble, mumble.. more for stealth, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble
as he clicks on the booster button and speeds after Sabre 2.
