Almost every band that turned up in the top eight had another album or two that could have potentially made it, but I decided to narrow things down to make choosing easier.

I suspect that if we held run-offs or the like, some of the more polarizing bands like Dream Theater might get knocked down a few pegs, but Arrow's Impossibility Theorem states that we wont ever be able to come up with a completely fair means of voting, so y'know, whatever.

Good work. Definitely needs more people's top 10's to make this a better list though. The top 10 of the overall list should all have at least 3 votes a piece to make it feel a little more legit.

It'd be pretty cool to have a playoff system by seeding all the multiple vote albums and having rounds of voting. Albums with the same number of votes could be seeded by year, then alphabetically by album title. If it's an odd number of albums, the 1 seed auto-qualifies for round 2.

A run off election is one where the candidates who got the most votes go on to a second round where voters' choices are restricted to those candidates. I believe that French elections have a run off system, so you're probably familiar with the concept if not the English term.

Wow, that was awful difficult. I don't really like Opeth or Sunn0))) (or Boris), and yet Jester Race and Wildhoney are two of my favorite albums... Also, battle 7 was weird. I'm a really big fan of Slayer's Show no Mercy and of Blind Guardian's Somewhere in time.
