It's going to be something silly, you guys.

"... humans make more delicious bagels than the people of the Forest!"

And then later Ysengrin will say "I'm glad you did not share the REAL secret, Coyote."

Wait, WAIT!!! A THOUGHT has occurred to me! (Which is pretty epic in itself...) Coyote's Great Secret is why he loves humans, but it makes Ysengrin seethe... I believe Mr. Siddell said Coyote has (or had) a son... Is it possible Coyote had (or has) a HUMAN wife??? And if she betrayed Coyote or broke his heart, and Ysengrin knew about it...

Now we'll see how wrong I am!

He had a hand in creating humanity?
A common theme in Trickster mythos.
Raven found humans in a giant shell, Prometheus created humanity from clay, Coyote himself also had a part I believe.
Perhaps 'too obvious', but certainly in-keeping with the themes.

"We are all imaginary constructs of some human's mind!"

EDIT: Called it, in a way.

So, is that a philosophical statement or an actual revelation regarding Coyote's nature?

    Huh. That is very strange...
I guess it does explain why Ysengrin seethes with anger, he's being ordered around by something that doesn't exist. It also explains why Coyote's in England in the first place. I never really bought the whole "Oh I heard there were other dogs over here" excuse, especially since there are plenty of powerful god-dogs in South America for him to hang with. Perhaps he was created by Gunnerkrigg humans to separate them from the forest and keep Reynard and Ysengrin under control.

Wow, that was like a screamer page without any sound.
Seriously, that made my hair stand on end.
There is a variety of possible explanations for what this means. Perhaps the Forest, or Coyote in particular, was created by the Court, or at least humans.
Or a human, Antimony's father perhaps?
    Dammit.

Okay, huh, so my prediction is that he only "exists" through stories featuring him. As long as he doesn't get forgotten, stories are going to be told about him. Also, simply attributing him a power in a story gives him that power. He's that powerful because of memetic retelling (also explains why he's so mischievous and over-the-top; there is no better way to have people go "OMG, haven't you heard? Coyote stole the moon! I'm sure he's going to steal the sun next time!"). If, for some reason, people stop sharing tales and anecdotes about him, he will stop being (not existing, because he doesn't; just stop being altogether).
So that's why he begs Annie to tell him stories about himself.
If she won't do it with her acquaintances, he can at least force her to tell him about himself.
Now, as to where he comes from exactly? Heh, dunno. Maybe he was born from the first story featuring him, by accident.

Oh yeah, Annie's calm in the face of such titanic news. She's probably so used to Coyote by this time he'd have to claim he was her REAL father to get a rise out of her.

Too tame and predictable. Coyote will just turn out to have been Antimony's real mother.

Wouldn't be the first time a trickster typically presented as male was pregnant and gave birth.
For bonus points, the example I am thinking of was commonly associated fire.
