Coyote waxes philosophical, how surprising. Though the inability to be inspired by ones surroundings or imagine seems counter to his overall personality.

Really? It seems to me that his inability to really create or imagine as well as a human is absolutely a crucial part of his personality.

If he's created by human imagination, which seems to be the implication, then he would probably gain some of their ability to imagine and be inspired - but he's also an animal, not a human, so he's not as good at it as they are.

Just because he thinks creativity is a disease doesn't mean he lacks that disease himself. Heck, look at the tooth: It is both a tooth and a sword, much like the hypothetical rock is a rock and a weapon and a woman.

So, Coyote is manifestation, not a being onto itself. Interesting. That would certainly qualify as big secret and provoke Ysengrin's reaction.

    It's all rather Discworld-esque, no?
Belief as an act of creation.
Of course, it is largely the same as our world, the very first step in fact.

The man in the desert may die alone, but it's not the end of the story for him! In both meanings of the term. The souls of dead people play a role in the GC cosmology, even if that role remains quite mysterious for now.

Also, this sheds a new light on what Mort says about his job. Scaring people is probably actually very important indeed!

So does Coyote have daily fights with god?

And do the manifestations of bigots also come true?:

Must be those dammed [Racism]! Its because of them I don't have a job!

Does the hate of a person as well?:

"This probably means he likes me."

So probably not. Maybe coyote is special because he was the first god or such?

It's different here. It's not attributing phenomena to an abstract and non-existent entity, it's blaming people who do exist already.
Unless, I suppose, bigots' train of thoughts is more like "they're doing it because of their evil gods", then that may force said evil gods into existence, by that logic.

This does have some interesting implications for the robot's belief that Kat is an angel of life and death.

I wonder if the robot's beliefs can shape the ethereal world as well. Perhaps that's why she appears that way to Zimmy.

    I don't see why they wouldn't.
We need more information though. Hopefully Monday's comic will provide at least some answers.

It's fine to be mysterious (terribly mysterious) but there has to be some pay off eventually or you'll just get frustrated fans.

Well that's an interesting but not really surprising answer. The ether absorbs dead souls, along with their minds.

So the Jeanne Barrier could be some kind of anti-ether field, seeing as Coyote is apparently powerless against it.

Makes sense that minds go into the ether. That's where the guides lead people after all. Not sure if Annie thinks the fact that this makes Coyote live is good, bad or simply interesting.

So the Moddey Dhoo was not just being poetic, he meant what he said. Sort of.

I like how Coyote's eyes are tracking Annie no matter where or when she is on the page. Time and existence for Coyote may well be subjective.

The question in my mind, though, is WHY is he telling Annie this? Coyote is a trickster, but also a manipulator. He's not expanding her understanding of the universe just because he feels confession is good for the soul, or because he wants to freak her out - much - but rather because he's giving her information he thinks is or will be essential to her. So what's he got planned?

I don't think Coyote has a plan as such. He probably knows that Big Things will happen, but he doesn't really know what exactly. He's flinging a turd at the fan and counting on being better at dodging that everyone else.

That's my read on him, anyway.
