One of the Kolyarut's steps forward analysing Ombra, "Hmm, decrease in inhibitions, inability to form coherent thought. Facinating, I propose we allow his condition to progress a little further then find a cure."

V-65 nodded its gigantic head, "I would tend to agree though I believe Lady Gwyn would have an objection."

Gwyn glared the Inevitables still supporting a delerious Ombra, "Shmix 'im."

"I object to not being allowed to examine the effects of deific maddness."

A second Kolyarut stept forward, "It's for the best, we should cure his condition before he takes an action he regrets. Prepare the probing needle."

One of the Varakhut's arms folded inside of him and he produced a rather large needle. "This needle is designed to interact with your unique essence, as it had with Lord Isanloff. Now if you would be so kind as to hold still Lord Ombra, we simply need a sample of your essence... It is my duty to inform you, this will probably hurt."

"Faref, Farf yoth beinth findictive?"

"No, we don't have personal vendettas no matter his opposition to Order. This is, honestly the most efficient way short of dissection."

"Sophia?" Sophia turns and a middle aged man carrying a roll of parchment, stares back at her.

"I thought you'd gone mad."

Sophia looks stunned for a moment, she hadn't heard him at all, she swallows, "Good see you too." She muttered.

Under his free arm a crutch supports him a necessary step, to keep the missing left leg from interfereing with his duties.

Sophia managed a smile, "So, how have you been uncle?"

Phenelope gasped, mesmerised as shapes and colours ballooned around her. So this was how they made those windows! But...what skill it must have taken, to have gotten everything so perfect!

Ever the artisan, she had one question on her mind.

The Countess' eyes widened in shock as the two before her disappeared, seemingly not even minding their abrupt departure.

"Father..."

Shaking her head slightly, causing the plumes on her fascinator to launch into a cheery dance, Adelaide brought her mind back into focus. She was hosting, after all, and it does not do to leave one's guests waiting.

"My utmost apologies, Lord Belsheroth. It seems that even here, in my palace of tranquility, there can still be unpredictable happenstances. Are you quite sure you would not care for a refreshment?"

Eroberung said, "Thank you father", and continued to feast. As he feasted, he decided to allow petitioning of him wherever he was, by any of his followers, that he might review their requests and possibly fulfill them.

Razorpine Forest
Eom stood up and PRAYED, asking that the trees might grow two times what they were before being chopped down, and that trees might grow in minutes and not years in the Razorpine Forest.

And lo, Eroberung granted his request. The trees glowed with golden light around them and Eom smiled upon the council. He spoke, saying, "Our god has blessed your trees. Look at that sapling.", he said pointing to a glowing sapling growing as fast in a minute as it would in a year. Eom smiled, bowed, and strode back to his camp.

Dull-Coat looks around at the rapidly growing trees. And the trees will grow rapidly, and become overgrown in a matter of days. The trees will drop their seeds and the forest will spread uncontrollably. Your god has done more harm than good. he shakes his head solemnly and taps his spear on the ground three times. One by one the Lloya and their Fonun teleport away.

Gwyn's eyes widen a little bit and she looks to the Inevitable, "Blurry!"

"Very well, Lady Gwyn, please restrain him, this will be unpleasant."

Gwyn moves to comply.

If she is sucessful, V-65's needle pierces Ombra's cloak, and sucks some of his essence out.

Now, one may wonder why this would be painful. Is it any worse than when a human has blood drawn? Yes, because a human doesn't have his very being seperated, torn, and drawn into a pretty little vial.

In a way, Ombra is now trapped in a vial and standing outside restrained by Gwyn..

The vial suddenly shunts itself into V-65 there's a long hum and then a ding, "Ah, seems some of Lord Cam's dream infiltrated his system, luckily he and Cam have superficial similarities, such as hatred of government and structure. So, it didn't effect him as much as say, Lord Merolle's or Lord Isanloff's essence would have."

The needle comes out again, "I believe I can seperate the essence of Cam from the essence of Ombra without too much difficulty. Please continue to restrain him."

Snow Haven

"I'm well, I suppose," Justin looks around him, "All right, we need to get you out of sight."

He hops down a corridor to his left and Sophia follows. "I noticed there weren't that many knights around, what happened to them?"

She feared she already knew the answer

"Called on the third crusade." Justin says bitterly, "Before you ask, no I don't know how it's going, but I know we've at least gained one ally up there. Elfiens I think. Right now the Black Reach sovereignty and some area ruled by a child king are our enemies. Think, there are others but they don't tell me anything."

"I know you uncle, that doesn't mean you don't know anything."

He frowns, "We'll talk more when we get out of sight."

Almost on cue, Justin seems to find what he's looking for and pushes open a sturdy oak door. Revealing a small study. "Get in." He whispers.

Sophia complied took her 'cloak' off and set him on the hanger. Justin moved behind the desk and riffled through some papers.

"You sure we won't be disturbed here?"

"Yeah, my official study is two floors up, I never use the thing, so I betcha the maid is getting suspicious. But we have larger concerns."

He slides a few papers across the desk, Sophia reads them and her eyes widen, "Uncle, are you serious?"

"Yeah, I suspect Captain Eric is the one responsible for an attempted genocide in the Free Cities. I don't have proof, but he has a bad habit of being where the ghouls show up. But read the one below that."

Sophia complies and gets a very confused look on her face, "What is a vampire?"

"Something Eric offered to turn me into. I declined in the most polite manner, mentioning that my leg would prevent me from being of service. Kept me from getting killed, but it took me out of the loop. Now I have to break into other people's offices, like Sub-Lieutenant Joseph, to get to the good stuff."

"You could be expelled for this."

"Expelled? No, killed's more like. Besides look who's talking, as far as Eric and his cronies are concerned, you deserted."

Eom came back to the camp.

"Every man, woman, and child must take saws and axes! We must cut down the trees!", he declares in the camp.

All of the Kriegmensch begin cutting down trees and building log cabins at a marvelous rate.

The Flowing Sheen looked down to earth and saw Phenelope beneath the waves. He saw her true love of art, and thought on it... Maybe he would do something for her.

PURGE THE TYRANT!! THE NIHILIST!! THE SLAVEMASTER!! He roared, straining against Gwyn's restraint, trying to get at the inevitable. For fairly obvious reasons.

A new crusade is very bad news...The Doctor frowned from his perch on top of the stand, tail wrapped down around it. He was no longer a cloak... when did that happen? And vampires... i thought they were just a myth.

The Hidden Isle

Jib sees the rise of rank between their previous escort and this one as special treatment. It must be a bizarre enough event that the system creates exceptions for them. He keeps a formal tone with this new knight.

"Thank you Captain Jericho, we haven't eaten anything but coconuts, fish, and an unknown fruit in ages. This Scepter Charles VI, is he a king? I guess word of our presence here travels faster than we do."


Drestin

Drestin looks over the contract, when he doesn't see anything unexpected, he signs it at the bottom. "Here, I'll send a bird; We'll send a caravan over 'ere to pick up the logs. We came on foot, it should only take them a couple days. 'Guess we'll stay in town until then."

[Yeshon]

"Stop struggling!" During the thrashing Ombra had let go of her cheek, she began to show strain, but was able to keep him reasonably still.

V-65's needle split in two and as Ombra would soon discover, they did not pump the same way. He thrust the needles into Ombra and one began to extract.

V-65 hummed as he processed the essence that was passing through him and then, some of it began to flow back through the other needle. The excrutiating process went on for what seemed like hours. Then V-65 withdrew his needle.

"Is it over?"

"... Uncertain, but I have nowhere else to safely store Lord Cam's dream, so I stopped."

Promising.

Snow Haven

Sophia cringed as the Doctor made his presence known.

"A Shadow?" Sophia's eyes widened, "How-"

"I helped one overthrow a lycan tyrant up north back when I worked for a living. Nice guy, a little too slow to dodge that boulder, but in his defense that thing came out of nowhere."

"You never told me any of this."

"I did, but you were very young, I'm not suprised you don't remember. More importantly, you mentioned 'myths' Doctor? I admit I haven't heard any of these, care to share some specifics?"

The Hidden Isle

"'Scepter' is our word for ruler. In some of the old texts we called them kings."

At the mention of hunger, Captain Jericho nodded to a nearby servant. The girl bowed and brought forward a platter filled with what looked like small pieces of fish wrapped in rice and seaweed (Sushi!)

"Apologies, but we eat very little besides fish here. We do grow rice, but that's about it."

Tobi shrugged, "You wanna talk to Monte Mora or go straight to an Inn? The Dandy Chap is the nicest, but the Drunken Knight is cheaper and reasonably clean. Just steer clear of the Skull & Dagger."

Ombra's tortured screaming continued as Gwyn held him still and the inevitable worked.

Ombra gasped and slumped in Gwyn's grip when it was done. He coughed, and then lifted up, eyes bleary. Ughhhh...

Snow Haven

Not surprising. They're a fairly recent creation, far as i can tell. The Doctor slid up to them by the table and looked down at the papers on it.

'Vampire' is an old name that roughly translates to 'Blood Monster'. Mostly the stories are perpetuated by lycans: soulless demigods who drank the blood of their children, killed their women and drove their men mad. Humans in Sarkan tell stories of sharp-fanged killers with hypnotic gazes (which for some reason were very over-sexualized) and Ravenkin told tales of a goat-killing monster with terrible red eyes that drank the blood of it's victims until they were dry. The goblins speak in hushed whispers of 'Vargull's devils', beings that could change shape so completely even a mage could not tell the difference.

The stories were many and varied (some of them incredibly outlandish - there was one story that said they brought about the death of the gods) but the common thread was that the creatures survived by drinking the blood of others. I've heard of vampire bats, mind, even been one, but the idea of a second super-human creature of the night seemed... strange. He looked up at them from the papers. They didn't strike me as a very likely being for the gods to make. They seemed too subdued and hidden to be Vargull's cup of tea. Ombra might've made something like that, but their victims would've been very high profile, and the Shadows would know of them.

Cerune - The Hall Leading to the Young King's Chambers

Curiously, despite the rest of this floor of the castle possessing stone floors. But the floor in question was of high quality imported timber, so one could reasonably assume that it was an attempt to make the residential sections of the castle more comfortable.
That was, until the floor creaked ever so slightly, almost inaudibly.
However, no one would be likely to pay it any mind, probably just a servant or a cat wandering around doing their duties.
And there, at the end of a hallway was the assassin's destination. A solid wooden door possessing numerous locks and reinforced with seemingly decorative gilded ironwork. Not really an obstacle to a determined and stealthy killer.

"Once, one of our priests sat upon the sands of the beach on land. He was sad, because he had killed many innocents in the Calasanctium War. He raised his hands and called up a flame on the sand, to kill him for his misdeeds.
The sand melted and changed into a brightly colored puddle. The priest started, and his fire went out. The molten sand cooled into glass. He had discovered an art. There is a moral to this story: never assume you cannot find beauty in a situation or yourself. It is there, like glass hidden in the sand."

Phenelope considered this new tale, silent for a few moments.

"We have a similar tale, in terms of the lesson.
It is said that our Lady Adelaide's retainers have feathers much as we do, and through an accident, her valet lost two of his beautiful tailfeathers.
I should explain that to us, our tailfeathers are regarded as the most beautiful of all of the Countess' creations, which is why we regularly honour them in sculpture. As such, the valet was naturally distressed, until the Lady Adelaide took the two feathers, wove herself a hat, and wore them proudly in conjunction with the feathers. Thus, beauty, and the highest of honours, came from misfortune."

Instinctively, she thought-replied to the voice in her head.
That is very kind of you to say, thankyou for the compliment. Might I ask your name?

And the Moral of This Story Is...
The artisan considered. "Maybe truth is universal. It is a power that expresses itself through art most clearly, and you see that. I think that our peoples are not so different. We see the beauty in things and bring it out."

The voice in her head was silent, then spoke.
"I am known as the Father of the Sweet River, as the Elder Brother, as the Flowing Sheen. I am Aquaeris."
In reality, his Lights were transferring the message from Aquaeris to her., but it was Aquaeris, through his servants, who spoke to her.

"Ombra, are you all right?" She didn't let go, yet. She didn't want Ombra destroying the closest thing the universe had to an expert in deific physiology... aside from Belsheroth and Merolle.

When Adelaide arrives, relief washes over Gwyn's face.

V-65 turns to regard Adelaide, "Welcome, Lady Adelaide and thank you for coming. I do not know how much Gwyn and Ombra told you, though according to Gwyn Ombra began to act strangely before meeting you, so I will explain the situation."

He approaches Kipt's side, "3 millenia ago as you may know many gods died from a plague. It attacked their very essence. We Inevitables took it upon ourselves to determine who was responsible for this heinous act. We discovered evidence that the one responsible had retreated to The Dreaming (the realm where all dreams are reality), but had no means to pursue him. When the gods awoke this beast struck again, this time killing the leaders of the two pantheons, Isanloff and Kiolasa. Lady Gwyn uncovered our records pointing to the creature's lair being within the Dreaming and gathered Lord Ombra and Lord Kipt to hunt it down. During the fighting, Lord Ombra took a grazing blast, but didn't feel the effects until much later. Lord Kipt however, took a direct hit, leaving him instantly in the state you see him now. I suggested that we seek one of his daughters to pull him out of this and thankfully you answered the call."

V-65 hums a moment and then continues, explaining the specifics of Kipt's condition, "Understand, the dreams of gods are essential to their being. It is unprecedented for a god's dream to change. Or perhaps, it does have precedence and the gods that die simply let go of their dreams... that is an interesting theory, perhaps I should-"

"Focus."

"Moving on, when the Dream Lich (the name Gwyn gave to the monster) attacked, it tried to change Kipt's and Ombra's dream, their very selves. Ombra was infected by another god who had views somwhat similar to his own, but with a subtle difference that nearly drove him mad. Your father has been rendered comatose by dreams directly opposed to his own. Such as Merolle's dream for a world of complete efficiency and order, without the distractions of emotion. Or Cam's dream of complete strife, panic, and destruction. Orlur's dream of a world rotting within, while still bearin the outward semblance of your father's dream.

"Because of all these conflicting dreams, your father has in a sense, lost himself. And it is my theory that only a daughter could bring him out of it. Within you lies the imprint of Kipt's dream and if you pour your dream into him, it may be possible that your father will be able to sort through all of the false dreams and find his true dream... I believe it has something to do with love but I am uncertain."

Snow Haven

"This is actually good intel, now we at least have some idea of what we're facing. Assuming of course it wasn't complete Bull."

"So, could you get us an audience with the king? He needs to know."

"...No, they read all of my letters sent via normal channels and I haven't found anyone I trust enough to smuggle them out. Besides, all we have is my testimony and I think Eric is more in Stephen's favor than I am at the moment."

"So we came all this way for nothing? What about the High Ecclesiarch?"

"Dead, killed by a mad druid, I don't know if Eric had anything to do with that or not."

"Dead?? The leader of Belsheroth's church is dead??"

Justin shrugs, "Afraid so, it hasn't exactly done wonders for stability."

Birds Of A Feather, Craft Together

"Indeed, I am glad we met. May our friendship serve as inspiration for the most beautiful of masterpieces."

L-Lord Aquaeris? Th-This is...such an honour!
Phenelope's thoughts were jumbled, and she herself flustered, as she mentally searched for the proper way to behave when being contacted mentally by a God. What was the movement again...? Claw-wiggle, then brow-touch?

Adelaide nodded, her face grim as she took in all the new information. When she spoke, her voice was as light and her speech as polite as ever, although it belied the faintest hint of grim determination.

"How would one pour a dream, if you do not mind my asking? I have not yet encountered such a practice."

What she could do, however, was pour tea - and she gently pressed a blue china cup and saucer into Gwyn's hands, seemingly from nowhere.

"Please, do drink it. It's chamomile tea, for soothing one's nerves."

Sea the Art
Aris smiled. "When you've seen all you'd like to see, I would like to visit your people as well, to see your great art and to meet you. Would that be okay?"

"You need not show the sign of the waves. I see your soul, and it is art. You will be the greatest artist of your race or any, in your time and long after."
Her eyes shone with magnificent blue light, and she felt different.
"You have my blessing."

"Oh at the moment there is no known procedure, I could always use the needle, but I think Lord Ombra would advice against that. Besides, I've run out of storage capacity."

Gwyn accepts the saucer (assuming she's not still restraining a frothing mad Ombra), "Thank you and my apologies for the state of your father, I should have been able to do something."

One of the Kolyarut's studied Kipt for a moment, "Perhaps we should take them to the Dreaming. There Lady Adelaide's dreams would manifest and she'd be able to directly infuse them into Kipt's essence."

Making A Splash

Phenelope suddenly felt slightly dizzy, colours intensifying, her mind a rippling sea of blues and greens, spreading out into her tailfeathers, which began to shimmer iridescently. Her wingfeathers paled, forming matching lilac clamshells on a sea of blue, her mind awash with ideas and inspiration.

She was Phenelope, She Who Walks The Waters.

"Oh, I would be delighted to return such an honour! But...Will the charm to sustain us hold out that long?"

"Lady Gwyn, if what I am hearing is correct, you have indeed done something. You brought me here, which, as I understand it, may have saved my father's life, and for that, you have my gratitude.


...The Dreaming. Did you not just say that is where the monster is? If we go there, will I be struck down as was my father, and the two of us left without recourse or any chance of survival?"

Phenelope swam forward, leaving swirling iridescent eddies of current in her wake, and boarded the chariot.

A thought came to her, lazy and drifting across her mind, but somehow...right, like a cloud drifting across the sky on a summers day.

Phenelope looked upon the variegated squid sculpture, the first gift the Peafowlkin had ever received, and symbolic of the unity between the Peafowlkin and the Kalpan.

The Peafowlkin, due to their nature, will create art to commemorate significant events, as well as through their own practice and inspiration. When a work of such importance is crafted, it is unlike others of its kind - it exists both in the Mortal World, and simultaneously in Adelaide's Gallery.

Each exhibit is attuned to a specific individual - either the creator, or the one whom it represents the journey of, as indicated by the plaque on the exhibit's stand or display case. This duality allows the individual to commune with the Lady Adelaide, provided she is in her gallery - or one of her retainers, if she is not. In this way, the artisan is rewarded for their diligence and their contribution to culture, by way of having access to divine guidance, the ability to request intercession in times of need, and by becoming closer to their Countess.

Such individuals are naturally revered by the Peafowlkin, who see them as true conduits of divinity, and are looked up to as powerful and influential leaders.

Eroberung creates from fallen trees Lumber Spirits designed to cut down other trees and give them away to the Kriegmensch. Every time a tree is cut down in the Razorpine Forest, a Lumber Spirit is born. These creatures look like big, hulking green humans with fully green orbs where their eyes should be. They have double-bladed axes as hands, and can cut down a century-old tree in less than five seconds. The Kriegmensch rejoice, and continue to expand and subdue the Lumber problem. In fact, they seem to be , slowly but steadily, destroying the forest...
