Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Having now had chance to play a bit more B2...
That is more like it! MUCH better variety of Pokemon. BW, especially in the early game, felt really thin on Pokemon types, and I was heartily sick of fighting Patrat and Lillipups by the time you started to get other Pokemon. And heck, here, you can get about a dozen Pokemon before you even get to the first gym! That's much better!
Not done bad... Picked up a max attack Lillipup, which I suppose isn't too shabby (if a little bland), and the Riolu I caught was at least, if not great, neutrally-natured (seeing as he's gonna be replaced eventually, probably when I get Cinnicino, that doesn't matter too much). (Sewaddle is going to be great for W2, where I'd planned to use one, coming that early! Not a bad fill-in for here, either, for that matter, as I used one to knobble the first gym's last Pokemon; bugbite rocks at this level!)
While I think, as I had to search around to get it sorted out for B2, Mando, can we get the below link added to the OP for future reference? (You said you'd add it at some point, but that was about page 2 of this thread and thus a while back; and things have happened since then - like the release of BW2! - so I thought it might be worth a reminder.)
Edit, nevermind, it doesn't appear work now anyway.Last edited by Aotrs Commander; 2012-10-26 at 04:48 PM.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Yes, of course. Edited above as that method doesn't appear to work now anyway. I was trying to set my B2 up to my other games (as I won't be able to do any trading between them until Tuesday when i can crib my niece's DS again, hopefully.) there is that. (Assuming that you do trade amongst your own games, of course...! And that your game pals are in the same world...! If not, you appear to be, as they say, SOL...!)

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Apparently Genesect really likes the icy cave...
Also, once I got sparkling sea. Yuhbuhwha? I've been working on my white for ages to try to get to that (and trawling my black for Corphish, though it matters less now that they've upper (or removed) the number of times you can cross the dream bridge again.) So B2 gets it as a starting area...? Wuh?

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Yeah, the starting areas seem to have changed from B/W; I didn't get the Forest until the fifth or so day of accruing Dream Points. Expect to see a lot of the Sea and the Cave until your badges/DP go up.
The limit on Island visits did go up, to about 10-13, but it's still there.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Went breeding the Gligar, got myself an amazing one about 10 in. Impish with IV set up as
HP: 31
Attack: 29
Def: 29
Sp.A: 26
Sp.D: 15
Spd: 24
If I could I'd swap that special attack for special defense, but honestly this is the highest overall stat set I've ever had on a pokemon, so I'm pretty happy with it.If my text is blue, I'm being sarcastic. But you already knew that, right?

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
My one complaint with Black 2 is the lack of water types about. The only ones I've encountered with any regularity are Marill and Ducklett, and though I want surf, I don't want those on my team. Have I missed something glaringly obvous? Like a fishng rod or something?

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
There's Psyduck in the early areas...
But to be fair, like of water types was sort of a known issue with BW to start with, if you didn't pick Oshawatt. (Like fire-types in DP.)
On the other hand, as I've just discovered, you appear to get the sparkling sea right away with the Dream World in B2, which should give you access to a fair number of water-types. (If you can't use the Dream World, then yeah, you're probably pretty screwed.)

Also, Audinos learn surf, and are awesome, so there's always that.

I didn't notice a problem in my White playthroughs. Even when I took piggy. Mighta been because of the monkey, though. I guess dream world is an option, or trading.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Part of me wonders if you can complete the lost item subquest thing, and get a Shellos from that, before fighting the Elite 4. It's among the least efficient ways of going about that, though.
...And another part of me wants to see a triple battle round where all 6 pokemon have quick claws, all of which activate.Last edited by OracleofWuffing; 2012-10-27 at 04:15 AM.

If you can make it to Undella Town/Bay, you have some options. Starmie, Jellicent, Wailord, Mantine, Walrein.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
I taught surf to the dog, then nabbed the water stone right by the hometown. Now I have Vaporeon.
Kind of wanted a Tentacruel, because I've never used one, but I guess they aren't in Unova. Which is weird to me, coming from Johto and Kanto games where they're everywhere.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
After an (apparently pointless) three-city detour, I took out Drayden at a terrible price - my beloved Krookodile. It's starting to get to me, now that I'm losing teammates I've been with for a while. Cue montage, set to Adagio for Strings.
On the plus side, long detour means more opportunities to catch stuff. I also really like what gamefreak did with the dragon gym. I wish more gyms were like that - less puzzles, more interesting backdrops and gimmicks.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
Finished the main story. That was pretty darn cool. A little over the top. Pretty much every aspect was, but in a way that I don't think took itself seriously.
Now I want that fancy Kyurem. But first: pokeymans league. And firster: grinding. Much grinding.

Re: Pokémon Thread XIII: Our Ponies are ON FIRE!
And done!
And yeah, I did use IR trade. I managed to snag my brother's DS he doesn't really use anymore when i was home for Thanksgiving at the beginning of the month. Still though, that took a while. @.@ It's done, though!
And I grabbed a Ditto from SS as well, so now I can get to doing some breeding for Pokedex purposes. Still need to catch a bunch for natures and such.
