Re: Total War: Broken City
EBSA Esp Def 5
Press Briefing excerpt with Anala Weaver
Anala Weaver- "No Aenry, I am not trying to deflect away from the point. The EBSA does not own the Daisong Palace in any way. It, as always, belongs to the people. The current plan is to quarantine it, keep dangerous elements in and away from the public. Soon enough we shall be letting in specialists to try to neutralize the chaotic magics. Any specialists wishing to volunteer can contact the EBSA. Next- you.
Reporter- What does the EBSA have to say about this recent public feud between the Champions of Sovreignty and the Blackfist Brotherhood?
AM- By the Blackfist's own admission they have been funding petty gangs around the city, aiding them control a variety of neighborhoods in contempt of the law. We at the EBSA condemn anyone who supports violent gang activity within the city...
Church of Neposh
SpoilerThe infrastructure of the cities laws and regulations are just as important as roads and so forth. We want to set up to be able to help any new governments establish order. If you remain by your decision, very well for the time being.
We also wish to extend a olive branch to your allies the Hearthfeathers, as we had offered a peaceful solution before the Wreken's attacked. At the very least, could you ask to keep them peaceful? We will do the same for the Wreken Familu.
Lord Wallen
SpoilerOf course! We are building these field offices to expand the infrastructure for the new government not influence so I see no reason you couldn't do the same in our territory.
Esoteric Order of Gentlemen
SpoilerIf you wished to be kept informed by the provisional government, you should of become part of it. Despite this, we will tell the council of the wish for public transcripts of non-sensitive information. We will also find a way to get the Field Office without breaking any laws.Last edited by Greystone; 2012-08-08 at 09:29 PM.

SpoilerSure. Missed it in me EoT If they came to pick 'em up, they got 'em. But they also picked up the blueprints.
To the Blackfist
SpoilerWe might send a team. Never did like the arena. But, is this the football were you can't touch the ball with your hands, or the one where you throw the ball?

Blackfist Legion
"There have been a few questions about the rules of our football game. There is really not much to it.
Two teams enter the arena.
Each team is 25 people.
Each team starts at one end.
There is a ball in the middle of the arena.
There is a pole at each end of the arena.
If the ball touches one of the poles, the team starting on that side of the field loses.
No shooting or thrown weapons, no clockwork machinery, no magic, no bladed weapons more than six inches in length, no explosives or chemicals, no fire, no animals, no vehicles, no automata. No poisoning the opposing players before the game.
So far, we only have three teams. To make this a bit more attractive, we are offering [1 temporary wealth] in prize money."Last edited by Eldan; 2012-08-07 at 05:53 PM.

Re: Total War: Broken City
Hollow Militia to Ram Revolution (4)
Spoiler
Safety is kind of a joke around here, but if you think you can change that you're welcome to try.
Hollow Militia to Order of the Wren (4)
Spoiler
We'll tell you the same thing we told the Ram: you don't know what you're getting into here. We'd be happy for your help--grateful, even--but you ought to know the dangers first.
Gerald Neilson to Wardens (6)
Spoiler
You will excuse me if I do not take you entirely at your word. We do know of the history that the Order has in protecting caravans across the Shattered Lands, but I also know the contents of the reports sent back to Veras by Mr. Embler, reports where he stated that the past conflict was begun by Warden troops. Relocating, at this point, would not be expensive for us, as you have already destroyed most of the infrastructure we had built here.
However, I am personally willing to doubt the claims Mr. Embler made in his reports. I will remain in Sav Altulas to rebuild our operation here, in White Market, under one condition; that you continue to allow my men to guard our warehouses. Under the circumstances, I would prefer to keep their protection in-house for the time being.
Kylar DePoche (6)
Spoiler
For [3 t.WEL] I will work with you for one month. For a retainer of [1 p.WEL] I will work with your organization indefinitely.
Factory Managers to Doctor Vassari (6)
Spoiler
There is a swirl of muttering around the room as the managers discuss what you have said.
Finally: "Define 'veritable death trap,'" says one, cautiously.
Aside from that one unnerving comment, the main thrust of opinion seems to be that being forced into doing things by the city is about the same as being forced into doing things by the workers. Most of the managers are in favor of hiring more guards to put down labor unrest.
Hearthfeather Family to Church of Neposh (PM)
Spoiler
We have a candidate who might suit the position. We'll send them your way.
OOC: During the next EoT, you'll gain a new VIP. You can define this VIP however you like, except that their last name must be Hearthfeather.
Annosus Merchants Society to Church of Neposh (4)
Spoiler
Honestly? You lot scare us almost as much. We're businessmen, I'm afraid, and though we'll do business with anyone we like to stay out of things where gods and godslayers are concerned.
Sister Serina, Bleak Cathedral (PM)
Spoiler
The dead sleep, Sister. What do they care if the world burns? They have already earned their rest. They have fought and bled and died for the chance to be at peace, and by all that remains holy in this forsaken city you will not take that from them.

Re: Total War: Broken City
The Sausage Guild
Dovel
SpoilerStarting apparently at random one of the less intimidating members of the sausage guild starts going from house to house and politely asks what kind of meat the residents prefer. If questioned he will state that the Sausage Guild is looking to try and better serve its customers exactly what they want rather than randomly distribute sausages to the city.
As the young man approaches one particular house however a loose net of guild workers dressed in inconspicuous street clothes begins to draw up around one particular house. When the polling worker gets to it he will start with his usual questions, but once inside will do one of two things.
If it's a boarding house of some sort the guild member will attempt to gain access to the attic on the pretense of speaking to each resident. If it's all one residence then the pollster will pull out a fake coin and ask to speak to the Dove.
To the Residents of Dovel and the Exchange
SpoilerHow much are you currently paying the Ansigaris for protection. We offer to do the same job for less or even nothing at all, if you will allow us to expand downward from your lowest vaults.Last edited by ArcaneStomper; 2012-08-07 at 06:36 PM.

Re: Total War: Broken City
Ram Revolution
Constantine Addler, in a speach given in front of the Parliament Building:
"As I'm sure everyone has heard by now, the Champions of Sovereignty and the Blackfist Brotherhood are butting heads over the funding of criminal gangs. I know that to many here, the Champions are just as distasteful as the Brotherhood, though for opposite reasons. However, no one who claimed to be here to help the populace could stand by as criminals commit heinous acts against the populace. The Ram Revolution stands with the Champions of Sovereignty. The Blackfist must give reparations, either to the Good Doctor, as the Champions suggest, or to those who the upcoming trials show were directly harmed by those they supported."

I think we should have a private talk sometime. Can you send someone or should I?
TO: Technist Guild (D ESP 4)

Esoteri Society of gentleman Explorers[6]
to EBSA
SpoilerExcuse me, you tell me I should be a part of the Council? You think I don't know this? (OOC: I was asleep while nominations and voting thereupon took place and didn't have access to a computer for a while, and thereby missed out) Had I the chance, I would nominate lord StigBalathad, but that chance has passed, much toy regret.
EBSA HQ
"Excuse me sir, I believe experts in dealing with magic were requested?" said the strange figure approaching the desk. He wore some kind of black body armor, too thick to be leather, but clearly not metal, and carried loosely at his side a blackjack engraved with a pair of cards- a jack and an ace, both of spades. Over his eyes, he wore a strange pair of glasses- tinted dark, as if to block bright light.

Of course we'd be up to a meeting, but we can only send a minor representative. You understand of course, I have urgent matters to attend to, as does my right hand man.

The Champions of Sovereignty:
Spoiler
As long as you want Markus Heladuit as the face of that department, I may be able to convince him to take that position. Understand that whatever titles you give him, it is I who will likely be undertaking the majority of the work and requirements. Markus can be the figurehead, but he likes to focus his interests on his own pet projects. Whatever takes his fancy, really.

I can only put this bluntly: Do not get in the way of my vengeance on the elves. They sneered at my sister Meredia when she visited them, and that cannot go unpunished.

Our agreement to support each other's claims to their districts has of yet gone unused by either side. I can think of some help I could use from you, but first I'll ask: Can I help you with anything to secure Sky?

Re: Total War: Broken City
To Heladuit Court
Spoiler
Well... I'm preparing a party, and we could use some special clothes and suits, as well as ways to impress our fellow nobles. We want to give an image of Power and Tradition.
If you can sperad the good word about our party to your noble clients, it would be great.
What can we help you with? I'm all ears.
Lord Wallen.
City Council
"My dear citizens: I am to give the Party's opinion about the supposed deeds of the Blackfist's funding of the gangs.
We will wait to see the evidence before giving the final word; as we would with evidence against any organization in this city.
But we will support the actions of this government against anyone who supports gang violence.
If the Blackfist has had any activities supporting criminal organizations posing as defensive militias, they would do well in admiting their mistake it and make ammendments.
Because... What kind of a man would send funds to a goup knowing they are thieves and murderers?
But I disgress. Once we see the evidence, we will give our full support to these claims.
For now we ask the Blackfist to come forward and provide with any evidence and witnesses they have.
Let Justice make the decission."
To City Council
Spoiler"I will explain the Party's opinion more fully here.
We don't want to act without reviewing the evidence. We are sure it's good evidence, and have no doubts of the Blackfist's dealings with those dreadful gangs.
But, as my father used to say, the only way to keep Justice on our side is walking besides it, not sprinting past it.
The champions need to show what they know now, so we can give justice to the city!!"

Re: Total War: Broken City
Dovel (Sausage Guild PM)
Spoiler
The landlady answers the ground-floor door, and seems delighted to have a visitor. She insists that the Guild man come inside and have a cup of tea. It turns out there are three people living in the building; the landlady has the second floor, a scribe-for-hire has the basement apartment, and "Mr. Kohdt" in the attic loft. The scribe isn't home, but she says Kohdt should be in.
The man who answers the attic door is small and grey-haired, with brass-rimmed spectacles balanced precariously on the end of his nose.
"Yes?" he asks, uncertainly.
"I'd like to speak to the Dove, please," says the Guild man, producing a coin.
"Well, I'll just go get him, then," says the grey haired man, just before slamming the door closed. There is the unmistakable sound of a bar dropping on the other side just before the Guild man's foot hits the lock.
The net of plain-clothes Guild workers finds him as he's climbing out the back window.
The Exchange to Sausage Guild (3)
Spoiler
That would be acceptable. The Ansigaris are funded by ourselves and many of the moneychangers and other merchants in Dovel. We do not mind accepting protection from your Carvers, but the moneychangers tend to like having their own guards around. It may be easier to simply contribute funds to the Ansigaris. Becoming one of their sponsors gives you major sway in Dovel, from our experience.
Gerald Neilson to Wardens (6)

Little Zanchar Market Guard/Peacocks [6]
Spoiler
''As I've spoke about before, I'm working on attracting more people to do business in our neighbourhoods. I would like to propose each of us contributes [1 WEL] to this effort, for a total [3 WEL].''
''The second issue - Lucas Deplorian. You have heard rumours, he plans to move his office away from White Market and perhaps away from the city. Should we seek to convince him to move somewhere to our neighbourhoods or do you think this idea isn't worth perusing?
[Can't help but notice, the only damage dealt to Redcaps was due to my efforts. Market Guard owes me big.]
Heladuit Court [6]
Spoiler
''The quality was indeed beyond compare. In fact I wish to make a new order right away.''
''I'd like to purchase several very large tapestries, enchanted for durability, as they'll be displayed outside, and if possible with magic, that shifts the image on them with passage of time. I will send you drawing of what I want to be displayed on them as well as their size. At this point my budget for this would be [2 WEL], although I may invest more, depending on the circumstances.''
Mercantile Guild [6]
Spoiler
''Thank you for your concern. The donation made it safely and helped me open the clinic in the Runner's City. I hope to eventually build two more to cover the entire city.''
''I would like to buy wall space at the city gates for [1 WEL]. Would you be interested in selling?''
Yours Sincerely,
Dr. Morden Vassari
[Should I be returning the loan this EoT? Also, will probably dedicate new Clinic to Mercantile Guild for your generous donation.]
Factory Managers [6]
Spoiler
Doctor observed the shift in the mood. He was counting on his reputation to sway their opinions, but in the end they decided to trust their old and trusted methods of dealing with the problem. He tipped his hat and after thanking them for listening him out, left the building. There was a slight rain outside and his boots sloshed through mud. The smoke from the working factories was rising in the east, but the wind was blowing it south to the Runner's City. A good try, but you can't win them all.
Technists Guild [6]
Spoiler
''A question. You don't mind, if students from other neighbourhoods attend your school in Gaspar's Folly?''
GM Only
Spoiler
1. What is the situation with the Maine Gangs? I can talk with them in the hospital [and them being bitter, they probably can't help but tell about the injustices commited against them]. What has happened there? What is Doctor's impression of them? Are they thief's and murderers (in an socially unacceptable way)?
2. What do I know about Skeeve Redeye?
3. Can Librarian of Elements efficiently fix the neighbourhood by mostly magic? If I understand correctly the Trait: Elemental Specialization limits magic to only elemental?
I saw humans get on fine without power for millennia. You used to hunt and gather, what happened to that?

The Sausage Guild
Def Esp 6
Dovel (GM)
SpoilerIn the alley one of the larger members of the guild places his hand the man's shoulder in a friendly, but obviously unbreakable grip. "No need for that mister. We're all friends here, and we just want to talk. Or rather one of our other friends want to talk to you. Don't worry about it, we think he's a fan of your work not any enemy of yours." The large man stops and leans in a little. "And before you get any ideas about yelling or anything consider this. We don't care about your little hobby, but would your neighbors the merchants and moneychangers think if they found out."
After all that the Dove will be taken to talk to the Conductor.
To the Ansigaris
SpoilerWe are interested in your operation. We would consider funding you in addition to what you are already recieving from the residents of Dovel and the Exchange in return for a little proposition.
We, the sausage guild, wish to expand our operations into the rest of the Gilded district. We are quite capable of doing so by force, but we are a respectable guild not some criminal gang, and do not wish to resort to such measures. And our own operations do not require all the Gilded district just the underground. It would be acceptable to us to have all surface activity taken care of by others. We have already negotiated with the Exchange to handle financial and mercantile manners, and now we approach you to handle public patrols. If you can provide a respectable public presence for patrolling we can provide the necessary manpower to actually cover that much of the city. In this way you can expand your operations to gain many more clients than just the residents of Dovel, and we can acquire more space for expansion with a minimum of bloodshed.

I'm gonna be upfront with you - I really don't like the Blackfist having control of the major prison in the city, as well as being spread out just to the north of my home. I would assume that your just about as put out with them as anyone else. While my forces will be busy in the coming weeks, would you be willing to help knock them down a peg once my obligations are met? I would contact you again when I am fully prepared, or pretend you know nothing about it if you do not want to take part.
Also, Constantine will stay around to watch the trial, and write a broadsheet containing what he saw while there.

SpoilerGreetings. My name is Alexandre, head of the noble family House Laurier. Our nobility comes not from this city, however. Esoteric Society of Gentleman Explorers
Wallen Manor
"Ladies, gentlemen, and, *ahem* everyone else, Lord Bennet Founder," announced Sebastian as Founder entered.
"Thank you Sebastian, that will do nicely. My name is Bennet Founder, and you've all heard of me. If you haven't, what are you doing here? The invitation was for nobility. Now onto the business of getting slightly tipsy and pretending to enjoy one another's company." Sebastian looked distressed as his lord announced himself in such a manner, then shrugged and mingled with the servants.
Before the Council
Gentlemen, I'm sure you are all aware how dangerous the Mages Ubiquitous is. This group of criminal mages which originated in Ver Arcana, has since spread to become a multinational powerhouse of organised crime. This Librarian person has contacted the MU and agreed to attempt to destroy the Blackjack Boys, the organisation dedicated to keeping the MU Sifter Magi out of the city. Should she succeed, there will be nothing to stop the MU from taking control of the entire city.Last edited by Nyrt; 2012-08-08 at 01:50 PM.

Re: Total War: Broken City
mercantile's guild
to bloodhaven/GM
Spoilerthere is really no rush in repaying me for the loan. just whenever you can is fine by me.
as to the wall-space, are you referring to the area around traitors bridge? if so then i will need to consult with my factors(GM) before selling. may i ask why you need the space?
GM: could i sell wall-space to bloodhaven without interfering with my own control of the bridge and nearby neighborhoods? i assume the space would be just a sort of fluff aspect?
