Favourite Character Tournament

Xykon. Tied with Thog as my favorite character in the whole comic.

Ian. For making Tarquin look like a fool with the old Batman Exit.

Young Adult Black Dragon. This was close, but "Your hit point total" gave him the edge.

Jones. Another close one.

Xykon. He's interesting and hilarious without being at all sympathetic. A masterpiece of villainy. Sorry Niu, you're cool and all, you're just out of your league.

Monster-san. O-chul brought him out of the comic-relief/"dragon" role into being a real personality ... and more importantly, turned him into a fascinating Chekhov's Gun that I'm sure will be AWESOME when his kindly heart turns the tables when all seems lost.

Young Black Dragon. He gave us a memorable fight, rather than just a contrived-feeling level-inappropriate encounter where Samantha beats the entire Order.

Julio Scoundrel. A pity; I would have voted for Rodriguez over Scoundrel, but I guess the lawyer's matchups were just unlucky. It doesn't help that the quote provided for Mr. Jones particularly made me want to poke his character in the eye.

Xykon - Easy one. Hilarious villain.

Monster in the Darkness - I love this guy. As Elan is not stupid anymore, he remains the same loved stupid thing :)

Adolescent Black Dragon - Don't really like him, yet he is better then Samantha.

Mr. Jones - Julio Scoundrel took from us the stupid loved Elan and gave us smart one! I will never forgive him! Plus, Mr. Jones is awesome.

MitD There is something about him/her, especially when he saved O-chul.

If you didn't back the Kickstarter, I think the Giant has said that the PDFs are likely to be collected in print at some point.

Ian Starshine vs. Monster In The Darkness

I'm not a big fan of either MITD or Ian; I'll vote for Monster-san on the strength of his touching scenes with O-Chul.

Adolescent Black Dragon vs. Samantha

I don't have strong feelings for either character, but dragons=cool.

Julio Scoundrél vs. Mr. Jones

Another tough choice, because both of these characters make me smile. Julio has an airship though.

Niu's cool and all for a minor character, but she's a lightweight compared to Xykon.

The Monster In The Darkness is hilarious, sweet, and has good character development. He's also pretty much guaranteed to be a major player in the final confrontation. Ian Starshine has none of these things going for him, really.

The Adolescent Black Dragon wins this round--"your hit point total" was a funnier line than anything Samantha ever got. Plus, I always liked Samantha's dad better than her.

This last one was tough, but I'll take Julio Scoundrel. Brought out some good character development in Elan and seemed pretty cool himself; it's too bad that if he ever shows up again, it'll be to die.

Xykon-want to reread the comic just for his great lines. Comic Evil characters are great.
Monster in the Darkness-though I admit that I mostly like him for the mystery and his relationship with O-chul.

Niu: Niu may be a fairly minor character, but I find her more interesting than Xykon to be honest. Which I find strange, since Xykon is the Big Bad and all. But on the Big Bad's side Redcloak's always caught my attention more than Xykon. I mean, I should at least hate Xykon (though I actually don't think I hate any characters in this comic) but at the most I find Xykon boring and somewhat tedious. Doesn't ruin my enjoyment of the comic luckily.

Hmm. This one's considerably more difficult, but I think I'm going to have to go with Monster in the Darkness. His scenes with O-Chul were great, and if not for them I would probably vote for Ian.

Samantha. I thought the bandit arc was pretty fun.
My vote goes to Julio Scoundrel for being a vital part of one of my top favorite character's growth and for playing a very important role in one of my favorite parts of the comic. And for being a generally cool guy. That too.

Xykon. I like Niu just fine, but she just has no chance against the main villain and superlative jerkwad of the comic.

Monster in the Darkness. Again, I like Ian (as a character, not so much as a person) but the most beloved mystery of the comic has him beat easily.

Adolescent Black Dragon. Neither one is very great or memorable, but I find that thinking of the dragon provokes more feelings than Samantha does,

Julio Scoundrel. Mr. Jones is the least funny of the lawyers, and Julio is quite a find. An Elan with brains, who can really use his knowledge of the tropes and traditions.

General Chang - I'll take the Death Knight-fightin' General over a winged Kobold with absolutely no demonstrated personality so far any day of the week.
Leeky Windstaff - Druids are cool. Kids like Druids these days, right?

Enor, with reservations. Mostly because: what is Zz's deal, anyway? He just built himself to counter V for...some reason? His motivation is pretty flimsy. Thing is, I like his terseness in contrast to V's verbosity, I like that little smile he gave when Tarquin put ointment on his ear, and I like the mystery about him. But until that mystery gets pulled back a *little* more, he's unrelatable and not much of a character. Big Blue, at least, has some personality, some motivation, and a relatable attachment to Gannji.

Zz'dtri. As I've said before, Z's become cool for some reason since his return and Enor by himself isn't really anything special.

Eh. The chancellor's the more developed and visually distinctive of the two, but the general allowed for the Death Knight's "Burn" and "Terms accepted" lines to happen. Chang I guess.
Leeky. Saddened that this guy was beat by Jirix. My favorite one-off character in the comic.
