Ezra considers this for a few moments, then nods and retreats. The humans are very nearly dead in any case - the dwarf only marginally less so.

Victor, and anyone else looking, has no success in tracking down the outsider. Being both invisible and fast at flying makes escape very easy, especially since things like Detect Magic require a few rounds to properly analyze an aura.

    "Thank you, Ezra."

Hal found his pulse racing faster in the confrontation with Ezra than it had been in the brief combat. Ezra Thrice-Damned may have done more to earn that title than Hal had thought.

"Now then, search for the creature if you must but in the meantime, assuming no objections, Buddy shall consume the soul of Hallack. I doubt I would be able to learn much from the elves and their souls are likely to be worth much less in Abaddon than his."

"Hexor and Vexor, let me be the first to say how impressive your display was. That lillend fled in fear at the sight of you no doubt. I could very much use your help transporting these prisoners to holding cells. I'll restrain these two if you would please ensure any others make no attempt at escape." As Hal says this he summons a pair of whips of crackling white energy. He flicks his wrists and with a cascade of sparks he secures a lash around the necks of the dwarf and the priestess. In moments their bodies are paralyzed.

With Hexor and Vexor transporting the other two prisoners Hal has a pair of skeletal servants carry the two inanimate bodies up to the holding cell on the first level. As he goes, he looks over his shoulder at the others.

Kin turns to Hal as he ties up the ceustodaemon's lunch for the next few days and bows, apologetically.

"I apologise that I could not leave more of them alive, but when they came with unexpected allies and that Lillend I could not hold myself back. The nice thing about enemies like those is that as long as we can handle them they will surely bring us a steady supply of bodies as we require them."

"Four is perfect. Your magic was indispensable as always," Hal offers with a smile, "I wish I had been able to prevent the death of the ogre."

"It seems we've set in motion a means of producing a constant stream of interlopers. Jurak's death brought the lillend, and now these dead elves will surely draw retribution." As Hal speaks he inspects the elves' clothing to look for any insignia's or markings. "Kydrak, do you think you'll be able to identify where these elves came from?"

The ease with which his illusions had been penetrated by the first group of adventurers was a little disquieting, Quint didn't like the idea of the hidden entrances being found so easily. He therefore had resolved to cover the entirety of the Horn in his illusions, time consuming though it would be. With such a long term project, it should ultimately prove worthwhile. He'd just finished his work for the day and was returning to his chambers when he chanced across Kin and Hal in conversation. Walking up to them, he asked "Did the Half-Elf woman survive? I feel I ought to discuss certain topics with her..."

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Il'Tara looked up at the Horn, it had taken a few days to get through the Jungle and the entire journey had been uncomfortably damp, leaving her in a less than cheerful mood. She'd heard in the town that a group of people had left a few days before her to try and attack the place, so presumably whoever was in charge had the means to run the whole fortress. Given that the place was still standing, she could probably assume that the party before her had failed in their assault.

Well, I can only see one way in...

She had to make it clear she wasn't a threat, that was the only way she'd avoid being attacked immediately. She took a moment to work it out. How could she be sure she wouldn't look threatening? A few moments later she laid her weapons on the ground and, backing away from them a little, whistled as loud as she could to attract attention.

With the sun low on the horizon, Hal was getting ready to leave Farholde. He planned to exit the town near several empty building so as not to be seen heading into Caer Byr, but to get there his route took him through Farholde's main square. One year ago today, Tori, Monty, and Van had all been burnt at the stake on a clumsy pyre in this very square.

Wishing he had chosen a different route he quietly walked through the busy square trying to distract himself from memories of three burnt and disfigured halfling corpses in the back of a cart on their way out of town. Hal only friends, his only family. All burnt by Father Harkon. One day Hal would avenge them.
    Spoiler

In the twilight Van hoped her presence would go unnoticed. Even though a year had passed since her escape from Harkon, he could still be waiting. She had to come though. Tori, Monty, and Hal all died that day because of her fear. Her inability to act meant their charred bodies now lay in some makeshift grave on the outskirts of town.

In a trance she walks forward towards the centre of the square, the tears on her cheeks hidden beneath her large hood. Her vision blurred with tears and distracted by memories of screaming friends and boiling blood, she clumsily bumps into a human child.

Distracted by his memories, Hal collides with a hooded figure. As they impact, her hood is knocked loose and her tearstained face is revealed. Speechless, Hal lowers his illusion, revealing himself.

They stand there staring at each other for what feels like hours as the bustle of the town continues around them.

    "You died."

    "So did you."

    "How?"

    At the Horn:

When Hal returns to the Horn, he is not alone. With him is a halfling woman with short red hair and large olive eyes. When she introduces herself its clear that something about her isn't all there. Her strange non-sequiturs and distant tone.

"A supreme pleasure to meet all you little ones. They say I'm Vancouver Eater, but you can never be sure. What a pleasure indeed; from what Hal tells me, you fine folk are a lovely sort of violent. This is a some kind of groove your in here. A rut of Hellish proportions. Happily so, you know?"

Van seems content stay and take in the room for longer to but Hal quickly ends introductions. Retreating to the war room, they spend the rest of the night talking.
    Spoiler

The next morning Buddy and Hal head into the jungle for a ride.

How? She died. They all died. There were three bodies. Is Tori Alive? Is Monty?

There are two members of the Eater Clan left now, Buddy. She said Harkon revealed Tori and Monty but kept the third body hooded. She doesn't know who it was.

Hal had too many questions. What had happened to Van? She was clearly different now, but would she get better? Who was the third victim? Had Harkon burnt an innocent in his place? Unlikely, it would have had to be a child to be convincing. Too many questions; no answers.

    Outside the Horn

Nothing responds to Il'tara for a few minutes. Then, from the direction of the base of the Horn, a small group of Boggards approach. The frog-men circle her at a moderate distance, hefting their crude spears. Their natural inclination seems like it would be to attack, but something seems to be making them pause.

When Hal finds the daemon's handiwork he takes a few deep breaths before asking Buddy to have them meet him in the hallway. He asks for Ezra's presence too.

"I take it you were hungry then? You haven't had much to play with in a while huh? What I'm trying to say is, I'm not angry, I'm disappointed. Hexor, Vexor, you knew that since the Asmodeans are here you could leave the Horn without violating your command to never leave it unguarded. You also knew that those prisoners had a purpose. Ezra and I were working on procuring him a body, but without those prisoners we can make no progress."

"What I'm really asking is why? Why those prisoners when there is a tribe full of boggards in the caves below? Like I said, I'm not mad. I probably wouldn't have stopped you if you'd told me you were going to kill them. Aren't we supposed to be working together here? We all want the same thing."

    Spoiler
    Show
Hal genuinely wants to understand why the brothers don't trust him. He's interested in seeing if they seem to have gotten their kicks from subverting Hal's wishes, or if it was just simple bloodlust. He is hoping Ezra will back him up in some way, but if the wraith is overly complacent he'll take that to mean Ezra may have been involved, and that the claw wounds were inflicted to cover up energy drain.

Also, I acknowledge that confronting a pair of rather powerful daemons isn't the wisest move, but Hal's had a rather emotional day what with discovering his childhood friend is still alive and such so isn't as controlled as usual. From his point of view, the daemons did something not in their best interests and were probably put up to it by Ezra. He'll probably have a minor breakdown if Ezra, who he was starting to think of as a role model, is actually betraying him.

Hexor and Vexor glance at each other, before looking back at Hal.

"Well, to start with... Just because there are Asmodeans here, does not mean this temple is guarded." Hexor says.

"Secondly, the Boggards haven't been begging for death. These were. Apparently being drained to the point of death every day will do that to you." Vexor says, smiling in his bestial way. "It seemed polite to oblige."

Il'Tara looked at her greeting party critically. They were clearly hesitant, uncertain of how to act. That strongly suggested to her that they were not the ones in charge here. All the same, she probably could not take them all on if they decided to attack her.

"Listen to me closely, because I'm only going to say this once. I'm here to work for whoever your boss is, so one of you needs to run back in there and bring them out here. Or, you could lead me to them, I don't much care which."

The Boggards seem to consider this for a few moments, croaking between themselves. Then they surround Il'Tara and, with pointed gestures, begin escorting her in the direction of the Horn. They lead her up one of the small trails carved in the side of the mountain and, at the top, walk straight through a particular section of rough-cut wall that turns out to be illusionary.

Quint was leafing through his spellbook when the Boggards found him.

I really need to get a new one of these...

He turned in surprise when the frog-people came up to him, he hadn't expected them to come up into the Horn itself.

"Yes? I hope it's something impor-"

His eyes widened in surprise as he saw they were escorting Il'Tara in.

Quint wasn't the only one who was surprised, Il'Tara threw her arms up in the air and started walking out of the room again when she saw Quint standing there.

    "It had to be you!"

"Il'Tara, wait!" Quint dropped his book and started to follow her, "We need to talk."

Il'Tara spun around, an accusatory finger flung out. "No! I don't need to listen to anything you have to say, not after what happened last time"

Quint glared at the audience of Boggards, he'd need to have words later about just inviting people in. "Get back to your caves," he growled at them, "Right. Now."

Returning his attention to the Ifrit in front of him, he continued speaking in a low monotone, "You should not be here right now, it would be far simpler for me if you weren't here right now."

He sighed, putting his hand to his forehead in frustration. "Why did you come here?"

A shimmer in the air had developed around Il'Tara at this point, the heat of her anger could quite literally be felt. "What does it matter to you?"

"I need to know if I have to kill you."

That took her aback. She scanned his eyes to see if he was joking, everything about him suggested he was deadly serious. She began to cool a little, realising she was treading a very fine line now. "Nobody sent me, I came to look for work. I didn't know who was in charge, but I figured whoever it was could use the help."

Quint had a cold look in his eyes, there was an uncomfortably long silence before he replied to her, "You will stay here and you will follow my instructions. If you attempt to leave without my permission I will track you down, and don't think I can't."

He saw Il'Tara was about to protest, raising his hand to stop her, he continued, "While you are working for me I will ensure you are paid and fed properly, once I am convinced you weren't sent here as a spy I will allow you to leave or stay as you see fit. What we are working on is simply too important to risk an intelligence leak."

He sighed, "I ought to make sure everyone else knows you're meant to be here. Come on, I'll introduce you."

Il'Tara cursed under her breath and followed the Sylph down into the Horn.

Mitrans who are seeking to destroy us. Mitrans who killed Ezra. I think death is too good for them. Their souls should eternally tortured beneath the Styx, but now they may petition in Heaven or Elysium. You may as well have freed them."

Once he's finished blowing off steam, he looks at Ezra hoping that mentioning his death would not upset him. From the look on Hal's face, its clear that he was merely ranting, but is now ready to move on to business.

"Now then, Sirs, for guarding this temple, what will it take to let you leave this place? What would you like me to do?"

The daemons eyes have gone cold, and for a long moment they simply stare hungrily at Hal. Then Hexor shrugs.

"While the temple exists, we are bound to guard it. In theory, one could also shatter our control amulets... but since possessing those grants the bearer authority over us, we hid them away a fair while ago."

I am obviously hesitant to go against his will so will need to ask permission to destroy the amulets, but that won't be long now will it."

"Anyways, Ezra, I was hoping for you help in organizing some patrols of the Horn. The surrounding area is hard to monitor and I was wondering if your wraiths would be able to patrol the area for us. With their ability to detect intruders without being seen they can provide an early warning system for the rest of the Horn's defenders. I hope you'll agree that they will be an excellent force for guarding the Horn."

Kydrak inspects the elves clothing, the only use from ever having be the prince of the elven kingdoms is that it was made sure he knew every last insignia of all the noble houses. Of course Kydrak never really had the time for that and preffered reading through books on devil and the holy writings of Asmodeous. After seeing if the elves were nobles of any kind, Kydrak takes any of the dead ones and decorates his room with their entrails.

After that he goes to bed to rest and burries his ogre companion, Asmodeous had decided it was time for him to depart this world. The next morning Kydrak leaves the horn early, he wants to go to Farholde to see if he can buy anything to help benefit him, some Ioun stones would be nice. Then he saw him, at first it looked like he was just another criminal on the streets of Farholde, but he saw the elven hand around his neck. This intrigued him so he studdies the man further. To his surprise it's a half-elf, who looks oddly like Kydrak himself, where Kydrak looks incredibly elven with bright blue eyes, this man had red infernal ones. Where Kydrak looked infernal with short dark hair, this man had flowing golden hair. He listened intently to the conversation between the guard and the criminal.

"Do you know who I am? I am the son of the king of the elven kingdoms. I am royalty and should be treated as such! My name is Caldrel Seldon of Kyonin!"

"I don't care who you are! You're going to prison for killing all those elves!"

"That wasn't all me! Someone else has been doing it!"

Kydrak is awestruck, someone was pretending to be his brother, someone who also had a hatred for elves. Kydrak uses his iron circelt to transform himself into the Baron. Then he approaches the guard.

"Let me deal with this man." He intructs.

After getting a safe distance from Farholde, he transforms back, grows claws and digs them into Caldrel's neck, trying not to kill him.

"Why are you using the name of Seldon, how dare you pretend to be my brother, I would kill you right now if it weren't for curiosity. How did you find my name?"

"Simple. I'm your twin brother, Kydrak. I know all about you. I can tell what those green signals are, you're working for Asmodeous and I want to help you. As much as I despise you and all elvenkind, I wish to work for you and any that might be helping you."

"Why are you lying to me? I do not have a brother... unless, we were sperated at birth, I stayed with my father-"

"And I was brought up by our mother, a human. I am an Antipaladin of Asmodeous, we could do great and terrible things together."

"Yes, we shall, but that does not been my hatred for is any lesser."

    "Nor is mine."

    The Summoning

At midday, the Nessian Knot gathers in the cavern levels under the Horn of Abaddon to summon their newest servants. Boggard warriors line the walls of the cavern, their crude spears beating out a stattaco rhythm on the crude stone floor, while the heat and fumes from the boiling mud pits give the air an almost infernal quality. The sacrificial animals have all been drugged to render them compliant and placed in the required spots around the cavern, linked by intricate engravings on the floor.

One by one, they are slaughtered with the specially prepared knives as chants are called out in Abyssal and Infernal alike. Their blood pools on the ground, running down the narrow channels carved in the stone to mingle in the basin at the very centre. And as the chant reaches its conclusion, your calls are answered.

The streams of blood burst into violent purple flames, the Eldritch fire racing back along the markings to reach the slumped corpses of the sacrifices. Hound and horse alike shudder and rise to their feet, mortal flesh burning off of their bones to reveal the new and terrible forms beneath.

Six Nightmares stomp at the ground with brazen hooves and toss manes of liquid shadow, their every breath releasing small gusts of flame as the great black wings sprouting from their flanks stretch and then furl back into place. Around their legs stalk a dozen Hell Hounds, whose eyes glow like hot coals as they gaze around the chamber with a disturbingly intelligent glint. And at the north of the chamber, the bubbling mud pits thrash and writhe, the shapes of despairing victims momentarily visible as it animates under the touch of dark magic.

Throughout the week, Ilvaria and Mira make several covert forays (using Iron Circlets) into Farholde, putting in place the beginnings of the infrastructure required to 'support' the adventurer's that will surely come. If asked, she is a minor noble drawn by the financial prospects that come with the adventuring parties that will surely follow the great flare of green light that was seen from so far away.

Whilst there, she arranges through proxy a meeting/planning session/dinner event with the Baron and Elsie. On the day of the event, she returns to the Horn, invites Kin and Victor - as well as any cohorts they may have - to the meeting with her, and then returns to Farholde with them as night begins to fall -dressed for the occasion.

The guards at the Baron's estate allow you in easily enough, and curiously, they don't ask for any of your weapons. When you enter the dining hall, you see why - the Knot Hibernal is here. All of them.

The first two you notice are a pair of humans. They are evidently twins, identical right down to the long black hair and hawk-like expressions, and both are wearing fashionable clothes of pale grey. The only difference you can see between them, actually, is that one has a small silver star pendent around his neck. They are seated across from each other at the table, and appear to be having a conversation of sorts, although entirely non-verbal.

Standing against a nearby wall is a half-elf in soft white cotton clothes. His pale grey eyes are hard as granite as he looks you all over, and there is a massive great sword propped up next to him that glitters coldly with the touch of magic.

Elise herself is dressed in relatively practical clothes at the moment, like a traveller or explorer, and her pale hair is held up in a long plait. She looks to have been discussing something with the Baron Vandermir before your arrival, and both of them assess you calmly as you enter.

"So good to meet some more of my allies. I do trust your manners are better than the ones exhibited last time?"
"Not trusting me might be the smartest decision you made since getting off of your horse."

Ilvaria's eyes sweep over the assembled Knot, eyes glinting with the innate sight of her kind, before turning her attention to Elise and Baron Vandermir, treating both to the abbreviated bow of an equal.

"I would hope so. It would be the height of both stupidity and discourtesy to be anything less than polite." Ilvaria responds calmly. "Elise, my Lord Baron, you two I know at least a little of - although I hope to know more. Would you care to introduce the others of Knot Hibernal?" She asks politely. "And would it be reasonable to remove one's mask?" She indicates the slender weave of metal that the Iron Circlet is currently masquerading as, implying quite clearly that she is under illusion.

    Knowledge (Local): (1d20+3)[21]
    Knowledge (History): (1d20+7)[9]
    Knowledge (Religion): (1d20+9)[26]

All above are general rolls to sound out the current situation and those unknowns within it. Now the fun part. Ilvaria will be idly concentrating on her Detect-Magic-o-vision for the entirety of the night. Considering the time available, I think it quite reasonable for her to take 20 on every single one of her spellcraft rolls.

In other words, magic equipment list of Knot Hibernal please?

Ilvaria is perfectly trusting of her allies. But it never hurts to know what they have at their disposal. And being trusting towards someone is quite a different thing from not classifying someone as a possible threat.

Interesting. I'll compromise on the identification, since it makes a degree of sense even though you can't examine them thoroughly without making it too obvious at the dinner table (also can turn them over etc).
    - Tallus has a magical bow of some kind, though you're not detecting any secondary effect auras.
    - Titus is wearing a short sword that is likewise enchanted.
    - Dorstan's great sword is enchanted, and his belt appears to offer physical enhancement in some way.
    - Elise, unsurprisingly, has the lion's share of the magic items. You can read at least an amulet and ring that radiate abjuration, as does her cloak. She also seems to be carrying a wand of some kind.
    - All four of the above have Iron Circlets identical to your own. Interestingly, the Circlets do not appear to be confined to illusion magic - there are also traces of divination there as well.
    - Baron Vandermir appears to be wearing a magical circlet of some kind, and also has an abjuration-focused ring.
    - The Baron, Elise and Tallus all read as long-term magic users of one kind or another, though each has a different feel to them.

Elise raises an eyebrow. "Of course. Introductions would only be polite, and one should have no need for a mask around friends. "

The human with the pendent rises and makes a courtly bow to Ilvaria. "Tallus Rakburn, my lady. And this is my brother, Titus." he says, indicating the other human.

    The half-elf merely grunts "Dorstan."

Arkov Vandermir waits for the introductions to be concluded before continuing. "Might I assume you had a specific reason for requesting this meeting?"
"Not trusting me might be the smartest decision you made since getting off of your horse."

As the days pass, Quint keeps a close eye on Il'Tara. Rather than keeping her under guard though, he takes her along with him as he works, occasionally asking for advice with how ambush sites should be set up. Before too long, Illusory walls created a narrowed entrance to the cave with hidden alcoves behind them.

Victor walks forward with Reyna on his arm, Victor dressed in a fine ruffly shirt and velvet vest underneath his usual long coat, and Reyna in a lovely black off-the-shoulder dress.

"Why of course we did. Several reasons, in fact. Any one of which would have been handled sufficiently by a message, but together we thought would justify a pleasant evening of discussion. First of all, we thought you might appreciate an update of progress in our endeavors. Secondly, I was hopeful for you to meet a few more of our new members that have proven themselves more polite than Hal."
Victor rolls his eyes in exasperation. "Thirdly, we are working to establish several streams of local revenues, and we wanted to discuss our plans to ensure that we are not infringing on any of your existing activities. Fourthly, I wanted to thank the Baron for finding and summoning my dear Reyna here, and thought he would appreciate seeing her, given that they're old friends and all. Fifthly, I thought we may want to follow up on our plans for friend Lord [insert name here] at a ball. Finally, I've been dying for a good evening of wine and conversation that doesn't involve demons, wraiths, or tortured screams. We have much to discuss and we hoped you would be amenable to some polite company."

Elise nods. "There shouldn't be much in the way of overlap. We've been funding ourselves with a secondary information brokerage, between keeping an eye out for potential threats." she shrugs languidly. "There was another group in town just a few days ago. Called themselves 'Brenden's Breakers'."

Tallus Rakburn looks up at this, a wicked smile on his face. "The name, as it turned out, was somewhat ironic."

"And I am always amenable to polite company." The Baron says, taking a small sip of his wine. "As for the good Lord Darian, I believe he still intends to make an appearance at the party. I can have you hidden away in the manor beforehand, with any of your allies you feel you might need, and you can stage a suitably dramatic kidnapping at the opportune moment."

    Back at the Horn

Those who remained behind are able to see quite clearly how the atmosphere of the Horn has changed in recent days. The air is constantly filled with the scent of ozone and copper, and occasionally the sounds of faint screams echo through the corridors without visible origin. More than that, the ambient light levels around the Horn have been gradually decreasing, surrounding the entire place in shade even at noon on the brightest day.

And, of course, there's the flickering field of green energy that covers the entire place. Some careful observation leads you to determine that the energy bears some resemblance to a dimensional lock - though the thrones inside still function to move you around, any sort of plane shifting here seems to be impossible, and you doubt teleportation across the perimeter would work either.

All this takes a back seat, however, as those of you still at the Horn and approached by Hexor in turn. Vexor is nowhere to be seen.

"We may have a problem. My brother and I can smell Celestials. More than one, inside the Horn."
"Not trusting me might be the smartest decision you made since getting off of your horse."

Do we not get to assume someone a cohort was manning the scrying eyes? I suppose this will be the incident that teaches us to always keep a watcher.

Also, are we all assumed to be in the same place when Hexor finds us?If so, where? The war room maybe?

"Only a matter of time I suppose..."

"Pretty. What lovely little creatures do you smell big brother?"

Hal lowers his tools and steps away from the workbench calmly. His face is business as he nods to Van. Letting the Lillend escape was sloppy, but this time he was expecting her. He cracks his knuckles and begins to cast.

"The lillend from last week I presume. With powerful friends. Where is your Vexor? Ezra and his wraiths? Can you tell me where the celestials are? Whatever details you have, please tell us."

"I wonder, big brother, are you hungry?"

    Spoiler

If its not clear, Van is calling Hexor brother, not Hal. The two halflings aren't related, but Van has spent too much time under Trelmarixian's patronage so likens the daemons to protective older brothers. Older brothers who kill for fun.

If we prep for a few rounds:
    1. Hal casts Mage Armour, Van casts Bears Endurance on herself and whistles for the Hell Hounds.
    2. Hal casts Cat's Grace on Van, Van casts Align Weapon on Il'Tara's primary.
    3. Hal casts Invisibility on Van, Van casts Instrument of Agony on either Il'Tara's primary weapon or Hexor's claws if natural weapons qualify.
    4. Hal casts Mirror Image on either Hexor or Van or Il'Tara.

If Hexor is going to dimension door straight to combat:
Hal casts Vanish. Van casts Bless on everyone and Rage on Hexor, the Hell Hounds, and Il'Tara (if she wants to be enraged).
If we regroup with Vexor, Ezra, and whomever first great.

"It's not the Azata. We don't recognize the scent." Hexor says, sounding rather irritated by this. "Nor can we work out where they are, probably because of invisibility. Vexor is guarding the entrance to the Sanctum, and the Thrice-Damned..."

"Is here." Ezra says, passing through the far wall. Two of his wraith spawn are with him. "If the Azata is not here, then this is likely an opportunistic raid. Something drawn in from the upper planes by the scent of the ritual."

"Not the Lillend? Then they don't know what a mistake they've made. Let's regroup at the sanctum. I want to know why the eyes failed to detect the intruders and I want to know what we're up against. Where is Vexor, could he be in danger?"

Not you Buddy. Scout this level. Listen for them. Alert me at once when you detect them.

What! You can't leave me here.

    Spoiler

Going to the sanctum justifies us having everyone together, since the daemons can't get whoever's up there themselves. Buddy has constant detect magic and detect good and invisibly flies through the third level at 50ft/round looking for clues.

Il'Tara examines her Rapier with a degree of curiosity, it had acquired a faint glow after Hal was finished with it.

How interesting... This should be fun.

She considers the offer of the Rage spell, "No, thankyou. I fight better with a clear head."

In another part of the war room, Quint begins to chant various spells.

    "Sciath. Treoraí Armúr. Fallaing Gaoth."

With the completion of the last spell, the air around the Sylph began to whip around him extremely quickly.

"I am ready for them. Il'Tara, I have a spell to help you before we fight, but it will not last long."

Quint is casting Shield, Mage Armour and Wind Cloak on himself. When combat starts he's planning on casting Displacement on Il'Tara. As a readied action if possible, if not he'll just do it in the normal order.
