KJ saluted smartly, resolved to never speak to the Commissar again. If that was what she called 'ensuring loyalty' then she could kiss his tattooed a$$. Sure, he could have handled it better by simply letting her 'win.' But the way she talked down to him when he had given no reason for questioning his loyalty or committment ... well, it had pissed him off.

And nearly gotten him killed. With the adrenaline running dry, his legs started to shake a bit as he realized how close to death he probably had been. Stepping past Stan, he headed for the point position. Stan realized this was one of those times where he didn't have to say anything. But he did anyway.

"Stupid, KJ. Really stupid." KJ ignored him, pulling free the auspex and looking over it with the Enginseer.

At the order to go stimm the mutant, Caileigh simply salutes the sergeant and begins to head up the stairs when a thought hits her.

''Sir, how am i supposed to get back up there? The door i still locked thight and i have no idea how else i'm supposed to get up there.'' she mused out, to the Sergeant.

Commissar Larkson nods to the Sergeant, before striding off to a corner to watch the Guardsmen and make sure they didn't do anything stupid, like leave their flank exposed or accidentally summon a daemon.

By the Grace of the Emperor, she misses Rook's quiet question to the Sarge about capturing a prisoner...

KJ had been staring at the auspex, trying to figure it out with the Engineseer when the shots rang out from the stairs. Blinking, he let the auspex drop and dangle on the cord he had tied around it and moved forward to follow his squad. At the Sarge's call to bring the melta up, he rushed to the point where he thought he could fire at the floor above, took aim and let loose a beam of superheated molecules towards the predicted spot of the adversaries.

Seriously, tossing Commissar Larkson into the fray would just make things messier and open us up to a semi-TPK if they've got grenades. Plus, I'm sick today, so my tactical mindset is pretty much switched to "off." Might as well hold her back and play it safe.

The rain of fire continuse from the two enemies on the floor above. Rook and Reid hit the ground. The lead enemy aims at the priority heavy gunner and hits him in the left arm and blood begins to pump out. The second goes semi-auto hitting Dr reid in the right leg, but the impact of the shot is stopped by her armour.

KJ Aims the melta gun at the ceiling, sweat trickles down his brow, obscuring his view of the auspex for a second. A bolt of superheated energy fires out, penetrating through the floor and bisecting an enemy above. He continues to fire and cuts a meter wide hole through the floor above bloocking the doorway a level above.

The enemies below continue to rush up to the door. Only a single floor seperates the lead enemy from you now. There are three of them.

The Battle intensified in the cogigator room intensified.. KJ fired and missed through the hole in the ceiling. Commissar Larksons fire was more accurate snappping back another enemy. The Enemies in the floor above dived to the ground brining them out of sight of those below.

Brother Zaphriel ran to the aid of those at the doorway- reacting to the new threat the enemies above opened up on him. Chips of ferrocrete sprayed out all around him. One slug hits him in the leg but is stopped by the weight of his armour, another immediately slams into the same spot breaking through the weakened flak material. A third shot hits him in the body. The troops from below dash up and add their fire to the weight, a number of hits hit zaphriel but cannot penetrate his subcutaneous armour. Rook is also hit but is less lucky, two shots draw blood from his torso and another glances off his leg.

Rook opens up but his aim is thrown by his wounds and misses. He rolls out of the line of enemy fire back into cover.

Reid miraculously makes it through the fire when a small black egg falls past her. Her body is protected from the explosion by the thick ferrocrete steps. The three enemies below are less lucky, they are almost killed by the Sgt's frag and look very close to death.

Keep your wits sharp and your aim true! Trust in your weapons, in your comrades, and in the Emperor!" she barks. As soon as she spots the pair of enemy troopers within her new line of sight, she raises her weapon and fires off two shots. The cobgoy moves towards the enemy in an effort to protect his comrades. The enemy soliders notice that shots to the body seem to have little effect on his martian enhanced body, instead they aim for his head, one shot hitting him shis helmet just above his forehead. As a result his answering fire sprays wide. The commissar moves to confront them but her shots too go wide

Inside the cogigator room the two enemies above have dragged themselves to the edge of the hole and started to fire down. If they had grenades the fight would have been much shorter. Instead they have to rely on suppressing fire to keep the loyalists down. In exchange KJ manages to burn one of them, but the other keeps firing.

The injured enimes on the stairwell try and drag themselves down out of harm. Unfortunately a second grenade follows and ends the matter.

Just above them the injured heavy gunner and medic move to meet each other, in a desperate flurry to quench the flow of blood.
