Re: Careless Village WW
Day 11
With Originals rooted out, gaze turns to newcomers. "One of you has to be the culprit! People are still dying left and right! Explain yourselves!" Of those, two come to mind, talk bout selves. "I have to tell you: lynching me does nothing. I won't die. See, that proves I'm Village!" "I've explained myself enough for now. But we need to test that claim. If he doesn't die, there's nothing to lose!" Arguing continues, and Mob argues at gallows.
Watching over proceedings, Mayor is approached by Legislator. "I have the information you requested. The Assassin, correct? Anything you need to help keep this town running, old chap!" The papers read as follows: "The Assassin: no one knows where he comes from or who he is by day. He appeared one day and kills on whim, or maybe at command. He's skilled at what he does, takes job seriously, only killing when there's a job, flying under radar when none. Sadly, don't have much else on him."
Twins continue searching through town, not caring about chaos all around with killings. They'll die or not, but all that's on minds right now is finding their other. Similarly, Youth, Elder, and Other search for each other, trying to one-up each other. Other groups search, but those are most prominent.
Meanwhile, back atgallowsstage, Magician claps his hands with loud boom, and arguing quiets. "Yes, that's better. You know, we need to calm down and really think, yes, really think about who we're going to lynch." One from audience cries "You!" to laughter. "Yes, yes, funny, funny. But let's leave this all to the next day, hmm? We may all be innocent here!" "Not everyone can be innocent! Death to those who say so!" and out comes throwing axe, straight at Magician. Cloud of smoke, and disappears into flurry of doves, as does axe. Fading voice... "That's not good..."
With lynch attempted but failed, Mob disperses to sleep for night in hopes of less deaths. Realize that won't happen but hopes nonetheless.
SpoilerThe Magician avoided lynch. His role/player not revealed.
C'nor did not reclaim his old character. Newcomer #51 was Secret Circle Member B.
Gray Mage assumes his role.

How about 45, because all the real good links to three are taken. 4+5=9=3*3 so yeah guess that will work.

Re: Careless Village WW
The man with the big iron on his hip went down to the cemetery at dusk, looking at the names on the fresh graves that have been rapidly added to the town. He starts at the mayor who died nearly 12 days ago. So many dead so fast. Most of the original inhabitants of the town are gone. Why was the killing continuing? Perhaps things would have been worse if the spy in the information network hadn't been outed so quickly.
He stopped dead when he came to his brother's grave. It read simply "
James Slynt
Born: , Died: October 6, 713 AIM
Face of the masons, friend to the town. May his memory never be forgotten.
... may his memory never be forgotten? They don't even know his real last name. They don't even know when he was born. How can they remember a man they didn't even know?
He'll take a nearby rock and scratch in some more information for the tombstone:
James SlyntJames Tyler Johnson
Born: December 16, 689 AIM , Died: October 6, 713 AIM
Face of the masons, friend to the town. May his memory never be forgotten. Brother, son, and hero to a town. Refused all glory for a chance to make a difference.

sorry about causing extra work. Could I propose that you have the years counted by an arbitrary calendar that doesn't correspond to any real one?
For example have it be the year "132 cvr" (clueless village reckoning) or maybe "3920 ycw" (years from creation of world) or something?

Re: Careless Village WW
The man stopped in his tracks, straightening up. He looked left and right, then noticed a girl coming toward him. The cigar loosened in his lips, and he watched her walk straight up to him. She looked a lot like... no. But the resemblance was uncanny. As she came closer, she spoke, a determined expression on her face. He nodded, once. "I am. An' you are? Her nex' o' kin?"
(I don't know why, it didn't really strike me before, but I have the sudden feeling that Nighthunter would stand a head taller than most other men, which means he's likely a fair bit taller than the woman before him)

Re: Careless Village WW
Night 11
Was not a calm night, but not bad in spectrum of things. Successor keeping up killings, others running around with tasks to do. Mayor working furiously on papers. There were still questions to answer and couldn't go out to confront people without answers. They'd target him next. In notes, stumbles across relevant passage: "Magician: This fellow brings interesting things wherever he goes. He may have something against Executioner but likely won't act against it. Became magician to avoid killing, sating people's interest with entertainment instead. Loves puffs of smoke, I have yet to figure out where it comes from." Well that was something but not much.
Groups again, Network shuffles feet and mutters among self, not willing to put selves on line for this. Society feels same way, muttering distrust when people join, unsure who Spy actually was, cowl was covering face. Anyone could kill them at any time. Couldn't expect anything and took each day alive as small victory.
Up in Observatory, Observer watches proceedings with telescope. Looking for person, checking roof to roof, house to house, window to window for glimpse. Suddenly, flash of color on rooftop, movement that shouldn't be there. Gasp of confusion and shock for moment before scope meets scope and shot rings out. Suddenly, vision blacks out as Zar Peter tumbles to floor, bleeding out, whispering out last words: "But... he's... can't be... he... one of... uhh...". Body isn't found for while, and by then Sniper is gone.
In alleyway, Furious still searches for Escaped, turning over every stone, each can, dumpster, each alleyway. Grunting and ranting, infuriated at inability to find her. Suddenly, feels sharp pain in chest and grunts before trying to turn. Young woman there, wild-eyed and crazed. "You came too far. Made yourself known. I've escaped my targets time and time again, and this time is no different. But I didn't have to kill you. That's all on you..." before walking away, glancing back at body now and again and then rushing off to who knows where. Penguinator lies dead in alley.
Two dead this night, but day dawns with another chance. Can culprits be picked out or not? Mob gathers once again for lynch...
SpoilerZar Peter, the Observer was killed. His role is not revealed.

Re: Careless Village WW
I'm leaning towards
Devmaarright now. Seems like the executioner chose him from after the tie vote and he was protected from a lynch. However, he claimed his role was "The Knight in Shining Armour" whereas (assuming the non-lynch referred to him) the narration referred to him as the Magician. If that's the case and he's lying about that, then what about everything else? Thoughts anyone?Last edited by Tom the Mime; 2012-11-10 at 06:50 AM.

Re: Careless Village WW
We can do that? Awesome! I will hang onto Daring then. That will be fun.
I hope you used it well (not necessarily for good or evil, but well anyway...) ...
Let's see, time to put your opponent into office... bladescape for Mayor!
That's a good argument, actually. The best put forward so far. Until someone puts forth a better one, I think I will vote the same. The fact that Penguinator scried NightPenguin as town with a 50% chance leaves the claims' veracity rather dubious. Sorry.
___
She nodded. “Yes. It falls to me to complete her remaining last requests.” She opened the small bag and reached in, pulling out a leather pouch. “She wanted you to have this,” the women said as she handed it over.
“Has it been announced yet who died last night?” she said, resignation coloring her voice, a grim look in her eyes.
Spoiler
Inside the leather pouch is compass with an intricate design on the protective cover, much like a pocket watch would have. If Nighthunter is aware of any ancient/dead languages, he would see an old symbol of protection surrounded by runes for travel and speed. It is old, but carefully maintained.
((Since this is the morning after TigerFang was killed, and she was still a clueless newcomer, I assume she has not heard much of anything yet that Face’s brother (John now, I guess) didn’t tell her last night. ))Last edited by Kalrany; 2012-11-09 at 12:30 PM. Reason: spelling
78% of all DM's start their first campaign in a tavern. If you're among the 22% who didn't, copy and paste this into your signature and tell us where you DID begin. The players were attacked individually on the road on the way to town by werewolves. Re: Careless Village WW
Yes, but Penguinator stated that he scried you as town, however that scry was with only a 50% chance of accuracy. That 50/50 is dubious to the result being accurate. That's all.

Yes, it's dubious, but from your perspective there's a better than 50% chance of my being town, due to the fact that Penguinator could have scried me as town, neutral, or wolf.

No, it isn't. If it's 50/50 then the chance of it being wrong is the same chance of it being correct.
This is the reason why the fool's scry is not to be relied upon.
Also, he was the "Furious", has he ever said his role's name? Because that doesn't sound very seer-y.
Of everyone, I'm having a gut feeling on Eternis, and I think Dev is cleared.

Re: Careless Village WW
No role name was declared. See below.
OK. I would think that it is still early enough that you don't have to claim to avoid lynch. If it doesn't come to that, I can see why you would not want to in either case. It certainly killed me immediately.
Ok. Here is the relevant post:
((Font edits are mine.))
I this is one of the only posts I have been able to find with info and this is where the 50% accuracy comes from. If I have read it wrong, then I would like someone to please explain how I did so. Honestly, if there is anyone who has a better argument, then I will run with it. I guess you could call it more of a gut feeling than anything else.
@ Eternis: not necessarily. My scries on you and Ramsus (regarding your previous alignments) were both gut feelings since I didn't get much of anything off voting history to chose who to scry. I'd say gut feelings are about as good as any other arbitrary device used (coins, dice, throwing darts, etc...). Mind you, I am not saying that it is likely to be right, or that it is in this case, just that gut feelings are not "almost always wrong." More like they are arbitrary and that is all -- it's just a guess.
I guess what I am trying to say is that right now, we have little information on anyone, and unless we get more info, going with gut feelings work about as well as any other. That's all.
Edit: Do we know if there is a newcomer executioner? Because the entire original cast is dead now, so the original executioner’s role cannot be passed on...Last edited by Kalrany; 2012-11-09 at 06:43 PM.

Re: Careless Village WW
Well, if the Nighthunter had died in the narration, I would care a bit more. But it was clearly some Penguinator fellow who died, so the Nighthunter is still around.
His grizzled brow furrowed as he looked quickly inside the pouch, then stuffed it away into his satchel. He nodded in thanks. Perhaps it would come in handy. (I can't imagine that he would have knowledge of ancient languages.)
The man looked away for a moment, staring into the distance. "Nah' in so many words, nay; but I gets a feelin'." He took a long draw from the cigar, then removed it from his lips. "'Twas an ol' contac' o' mine. Use' t' tell me when 'ere were killin's about. 'E's the one 'oo told me t'come 'ere. But 'e's gone, now, an' I hain't e'en seen him 'roun', yet." He shook his head. "Bu' he ain' the only one, either. Oh, no. I feel another was slain. Not by the same folk, mind you."Last edited by Penguinator; 2012-11-09 at 06:31 PM.
