Re: The Invasion of Toril
"If anyone is a decent tracker I'd suggest looking around for tracks."
he examines a set of dead bodies, formian and ex-survivor, to make sure their wounds look like they were done with each others weapons.

Re: The Invasion of Toril
The wounds on the human look like they match those of a formian. The wounds on the formian are mostly clean, precise cuts, with a few light dents to the exoskeleton caused by bludgeoning objects.

Re: The Invasion of Toril
Krgg the Providertarian
Ignoring the others, Krgg limps off towards one of the buildings that seems intact, emerging a minute or two later with a hunk of stale bread in one hand, and a chunk of raw meat in the other. He lays the meat out on the flat of his blade and begins searing it in the flames licking up the side of another structure as he munches on the heel of bread.
So...the plan?Just in case, in any game I've applied to without being selected: DMs are more than welcome to use my submission as an NPC as they wish!

As Garrin takes in the scents around him, all he is able to smell is blood from all the corpses, and the staleness of the bread that Krgg is eating.

"Okay guys, good news I think. Bailey is not here. He might have fled, maybe he led his people to some other safe place. My spell doesn't sense his belongings within eight hundred feet. Do we want to keep looking for him, or do we want to stop and rest? My spell will be active for 10 minutes, I guess we can try going in one direction as fast as we can to see if I sense something."

SpoilerIf several minutes have passed, fiendish resilience will have healed gale to full health.
Gale now looks bloody, but unharmed. As she is flying along, she is wiping blood off of her skin, and frowning at the state of her clothes.
"Noru, I agree, the rest of you seem to need rest. I think there are only two ways any survivors could have gone are back to the surface, or deeper into undermountain. If you can summon that bird to take a look around the surface, we should proceed deeper into the mountain. First, should try to find anyone hiding by magic."
Gale casts detect magic, and scours the area, looking for magic, hoping to pierce some concealment spell.Spoiler: Current Character List:

The raven goes out through the well, scanning the area around. The city looks normal, the only notable difference is that there is one less boat at the docks.

"There appears to be a boat missing from the nearby docks... Not necessarily indicative of anything. I will see if i can locate this ship but it seems unlikely."
Noru speaks distractedly as he looks about for a broad flat raised stone of some sort or an anvil.
He wills the bird to fly off over the sea to try and locate this boat.
"Personally, with eyes above already I would vote for deeper. But it seems that others have immediate need for rest, and i cannot guarantee the safety of either location."Last edited by Tharione; 2012-10-09 at 07:24 PM.

Krgg
Krgg gulps down his brazed and stale meal, but weariness still shows on his face and in the set of his shoulders. I'm pretty worn out too. The little one's also pretty exausted, as is the Elf. An hour or so of rest wouldn't hurt anyone here.

The orc lets out a powerful yawn, and begins casting about for a comfortable place to rest as he strips off his armor. You do that, and good luck he snickers, I'm here to kill invaders, not chase after smoke and scattered farm animals.

Re: The Invasion of Toril
Gale and Garrin find several passages that have been sealed off by different means, 3 tunnels are closed by a cave ins, 2 tunnels sealed by what seems like feet of stone with no discernible door.
They find 5 other tunnels, the first, which is east of the village, is the tunnel to the well at the Yawning Portal. The second tunnel, south of the village, begins to smell like salt water as the pair delve deeper into the tunnel, and opens out to a cavern on the water, the docks are within swimming distance to the east. The third tunnel heads north and has a gradual increasing slope about it, which leads to two double iron doors.
The other two tunnels, also to the east of the village, look similar to those dug out by formian, walking through them, the two find themselves back in the sewers.
Between the two tunnels that look like they were created by the formian is the tunnel that leads to the secret door that Bailey showed the party that they just came from.Intelligent doors FTW

Re: The Invasion of Toril
Gale pulls open the double iron doors, and they creak as the heavy doors put all of their weight on their hinges. A cloud of dust comes flying out at Gale, when settled she is able to see a dusty stone cellar. There is a door on the left side of the room, and a ladder below a trapdoor on the right side of the room. Around the room there are crates and barrels, as well as a table and 3 chairs, and a pile of broken wood.
In front of the crates and barrels are 3 humanoid skeletons. Next to the skeletons is a wooden spike, one end of the spike is stained a darker color than the other end.Intelligent doors FTW

Interesting, I wonder why they blocked off these rooms.
Gale examines the contents of the crates, and collects the spike, figuring it might come in handy later. She then takes a look through the door on the left side of the room.
